[Termes IGN] modélisation spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) A novel procedure to analyse the uncertainty associated to the output of GIS-based models is presented. The procedure can handle models of any degree of complexity that accept any kind of input data. Two important aspects of spatial modelling are addressed: the propagation of uncertainty from model inputs and model parameters up to the model output (uncertainty analysis) ; and the assessment of the relative importance of the sources of uncertainty in the output uncertainty (sensitivity analysis). Two main applications are proposed. The procedure allows implementation of a GIS-based model whose output can reliably support the decision process with an optimised allocation of resources for spatial data acquisition. This is possible in low cost strategy, based on numerical simulations on a small prototype of the GIS-based model. Furthermore, the procedure provides an effective model building tool to choose, from a group of alternative models, the best one in terms of cost-benefit analysis. A comprehensive case study is described. It concerns the implementation of a new GIS-based hydrologic model, whose goal is providing near real-time flood forecasting. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (Auteur) Maintaining a focus on the ultimate users ("the customers") during research and development constitutes a main concern of the Galileo programme. This article presents technically viable Galileo services required by the future users, according to recent EC studies. The authors then introduce the concept of a Galileo Service Developer, a company that would play a fundamental role in the commercialisation and provision of Galileo services while advocating for users' requirements during the development phase. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (Auteur) A service providing to user an independent, quasi realtime assessment of satellite navigation signal quality, the socalled “integrity" service is generally accepted as key requirement for Galileo. This article shows that the current Galileo system design incorporates the necessary flexibility to accommodate a range of service objectives. The system includes specific features, including local augmentations designed to allow the adaptation of the integrity service to the evolution of requirements without compromising on the safety and security one might say on the integrity of the integrity system. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Accurate image registration is essential for the successful creation and interpretation of multi-image spatial information products. However, the enormous increase in the volume of remotely sensed data that is being acquired by an ever growing number of Earth Observation satellites means that automation now plays a more vital role than ever before in the registration procedure. This paper introduces an improved model for automatic feature-based image registration, and presents a robust system for automatically registering SAR and SPOT imagery. The model incorporates multiple feature extraction and feature matching algorithms which operate together to identify common features in the multi-sensor images, from which accurate tie points can be derived. Application of the proposed automatic registration model to both small and large images showed that in each case a large number of accurate tie points could be identified fully automatically across the images.
