[Termes IGN] Texas (Etats-Unis)Résumé : (Auteur) Silverleaf sunflower (Helianthus argophyllus, Torr and Gray) is an annual weed found on rangelands in south and southeast Texas. Colour-infrared aerial photography and computer image analysis techniques were evaluated for detecting and mapping silverleaf sunflower infestations on a south Texas rangeland area. Supervised and unsupervised image analysis classification techniques were used to classify photographs from two study sites. Supervised classification of the two photographs showed that silverleaf sunflower had mean producer's and user's accuracies of 95.2% and 91.3%, respectively. Unsupervised classification of the two photographs had mean producer's and user's accuracies for silverleaf sunflower of 65.7% and 80.1%, respectively. These results indicate that the supervised technique is superior to the unsupervised technique for mapping silverleaf sunflower infestations using colour-infrared aerial photos. Here’s a look inside the development of a highly accurate, real-time, portable, and low-cost alternative to traditional weapons testing systems. It incorporates state-of-the-art acoustic, GNSS, and data processing and analysis technologies and has been undergoing tests at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground since May 2009. This book demonstrates how GIS can aid processes and promote transparency by providing a single data source from which to work. Featuring case studies from a range of technical-support structures including electric and gas utilities, public works, and renewable energy, this book is a reference for anyone involved in the infrastructure industry. The maps in are real-world examples from 57 different organizations currently using GIS to effectively examine infrastructure development. Note de contenu : - Broadband

[Termes IGN] transport collectifRésumé : (Auteur) Accessibility is a concept that is not entirely easy to define. Gould (1969) once stated that it is a 'slippery notion ... one of those common terms that everyone uses until faced with the problem of defining and measuring it'. Considerable research over the last 40 years has been devoted to defining and measuring accessibility, ranging from access to jobs within an hour's travel time to the ease at which given places can be reached. This article is concerned with the measurement of access provided by transit. It includes a review of past work on measuring accessibility in general and with respect to transit services in particular. From this overview of the literature, it can be seen that current methods fall short in measuring transit service access in several meaningful aspects. Based on this review and critique, we propose new refinements that can be used to help overcome some of these shortcomings. As a part of this, we define an extended GIS data structure to handle temporal elements of transit service. To demonstrate the value of these new measures, examples are presented with respect to mapping accessibility of transit services in Santa Barbara, California. Finally, we show how these measures can be used to develop a framework for supporting transit service analysis and planning.
