However, existing techniques have limitations. Long-range terrestrial laser scanners (TLSs) can record the co-located intensity value which refers to a measure of the backscattered laser from each scanned point. Most long-range TLSs emit near-infrared lasers that can be strongly absorbed by water. Thus, the intensity values can be used as proxies for water contents. In this study, the intensity data of long-range TLSs are corrected for the incidence angle and distance effects to quantitatively estimate the soil surface water contents of intertidal mudflats. A case study for a mudflat in Chongming Island, Shanghai, China, is conducted. Results indicate that compared with traditional techniques, the corrected intensity data of long-range TLSs are extremely effective data sources for a quick, accurate, and detailed estimation of water contents for large-area mudflats. The estimation root mean square error is approximately 3%. Furthermore, the 3D distributions of the water contents can be accurately mapped by combining the point cloud of the mudflats to potentially analyze the intrinsic association among water contents and topography, vegetation coverage, and habitation of creatures in mudflats. Note de contenu :

[Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (auteur) Sensor-observed energy from adjacent pixels, known as the adjacency effect, influences land surface reflectivity retrieval accuracy in optical remote sensing. As the spatial resolution of thermal infrared (TIR) images increases, the adjacency effect may influence land surface temperature (LST) retrieval accuracy in TIR remote sensing. However, to our knowledge, few studies have focused on quantifying this adjacency effect on TIR measurements. In this study, a forward adjacency effect radiative transfer model (FAERTM) was developed to quantify the adjacency effect on high-spatial-resolution TIR measurements. The model was verified to be in good agreement with moderate resolution atmospheric transmission (MODTRAN) code, with a discrepancy 3 K in some cases. These findings indicate that the adjacency effect should be considered when retrieving LSTs from TIR measurements, at least in some specific conditions. The proposed FAERTM provides a useful model for quantifying and addressing the adjacency effect on TIR measurements Numéro de notice : A2019-600 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2019.2928525 Date de publication en ligne : 06/08/2019 En ligne : http://doi.org/10.1109/TGRS.2019.2928525 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=94599

[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) This study proposes the development of a multi-sensor, multi-spectral composite from Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2A imagery referred to as ‘LSC’ for land use land cover (LULC) characterisation and compared with respect to the hyperspectral imagery of the EO1: Hyperion sensor. A three-stage evaluation was implemented based on the similarity observed in the spectral response, supervised classification results and endmember abundance information obtained using linear spectral unmixing. The study was conducted for two areas located around Dhundi and Rohtak in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, respectively. According to the analysis of the spectral reflectance curves, the spectral response of the LSC is capable of identifying major LULC classes. The kappa accuracy of 0.85 and 0.66 was observed for the classification results from LSC and Hyperion data for Dhundi and Rohtak datasets, respectively. The coefficient of determination was found to be above 0.9 for the LULC classes in both the datasets as compared to Hyperion, indicating a good agreement. Thus, these three-stage results indicated the significant potential of a composite derived from freely available multi-sensor multi-spectral imagery as an alternative to hyperspectral imagery for LULC studies.
