[Termes IGN] volume en boisRésumé : (auteur) The French National Forest Inventory provides detailed forest information up to large national and regional scales. Forest inventory for small areas of interest within a large population is equally important for decision making, such as for local forest planning and management purposes. However, sampling these small areas with sufficient ground plots is often not cost efficient. In response, small area estimation has gained increasing popularity in forest inventory. It consists of a set of techniques that enables predictions of forest attributes of subpopulation with the help of auxiliary information that compensates for the small field samples. Common sources of auxiliary information usually come from remote sensing technology, such as airborne laser scanning and satellite imagery. The newly launched NASA’s Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI), a full waveform Lidar instrument, provides an unprecedented opportunity of collecting large-scale and dense forest sample plots given its sampling frequency and spatial coverage. However, the geolocation uncertainty associated with GEDI footprints create important challenges for their use for small area estimations. In this study, we designed a process that provides NFI measurements at plot level with GEDI auxiliary information from nearby footprints. We demonstrated that GEDI RH98 is equivalent to NFI dominant height at plot level. We stressed the importance of pairing NFI plots with nearby GEDI footprints, based on not only the distance in between but also their similarities, i.e., forest heights and forest types. Subsequently, these NFI-GEDI pairs were used for small area estimations following a two-phase sampling scheme. We showcased that, with an adequate sample size, small area estimation with GEDI auxiliary data can improve the accuracy of forest volume estimates. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) To obtain satisfying results of individual tree detection from LiDAR points, parameters using traditional methods usually need to be adjusted by trials and errors. When encountering complex forest environments, the detection accuracy cannot be satisfied. To resolve this, a multi-level self-adaptive individual tree detection method was presented in this paper. The proposed method can be seen as a hybrid model, which combined the strength of both raster-based and point-based methods. Raster-based strategy was first used for achieving initial trees detection results, while the point-based strategy was adopted for optimizing the clustered trees. In the proposed method, crown width scales were estimated automatically. Meanwhile, multi-scales segmented results were fused together to take advantage of segmented results of both larger and small scales. Six different coniferous forests were adopted for testing. Experimental result shows that this study achieved the lowest omission and commission errors comparing with other three classical approaches. Meanwhile, the average F1 score in this paper is 0.84, which is much highest out of other methods. [Termes IGN] résolution d'ambiguïtéRésumé : (auteur) Partial ambiguity resolution has been widely used in real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning to provide accurate and continuous centimeter-level positioning solutions. Current PAR methods are concerned with the exclusion of ambiguities that otherwise would result in low rate of full ambiguity resolution (FAR). With an assumption of unbiased ambiguities, the traditional PAR methods use the ambiguity-domain test statistics and probability-domain quantitative evaluation to select and validate the ambiguity subset. Consequentially, they would degrade the performance using low-cost devices in challenging environments where ambiguity biases exist, causing high probabilities of false alarm and missed detection of PAR and subsequently poor availability and accuracy of PAR. To deal with this issue, in this study, we propose a new PAR method for application in challenging environments. The proposed method consists of two major steps. First, a global navigation satellite system epoch-differencing (GED) algorithm is applied to derive a prior ambiguity solution. Second, we use a modified solution separation (SS) method with the prior ambiguity solution as an external input to obtain more accurate ambiguity test statistics. Based on a dynamic road test under environments with significant signal blockages, the performance of the proposed method is analyzed by using a low-cost GNSS receiver. The proposed method provides ambiguity test statistics with higher accuracy and can achieve 73.19% and 50.55% improvement in the accuracy and availability of the fixed solution, compared with the traditional PAR methods. Besides, the RMS of positioning errors with fixed solution are 1.03 cm, 0.70 cm, and 1.50 cm for the proposed PAR method in the east, north, and upward directions, respectively, which are 1.06 cm, 0.72 cm, and 1.35 cm for SS-based PAR, and 5.29 cm, 0.86 cm, and 5.56 cm for ILS-based PAR. The proposed PAR method achieves 90.36% fixed epochs, versus 79.06%, and 88.28%, for ILS-based PAR and SS-based PAR, respectively. [Termes IGN] théorie de l'estimationRésumé : (auteur) In this contribution, we generalize PPP–RTK theory by allowing the transmitters to transmit on different frequencies. The generalization is based on the integer-estimability theory of Teunissen (A new GLONASS FDMA model. GPS Solutions, 2019). As the theory and associated algorithms provided are generally applicable, they apply to satellite-based carrier-phase positioning as well as to terrestrial interferometric sensory networks. Based on an identification of the constraints imposed on the admissible ambiguity transformations by PPP–RTK, a fundamental network+user condition is found that determines whether PPP–RTK is possible or not. The discriminating contributions of both the network and user observation equations to this PPP–RTK condition are analysed, followed by a description of PPP–RTK enabling classes of measurement scenarios. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (auteur) The problem of edge detection plays a crucial role in almost all research areas of image processing. If edges are detected accurately, one can detect the location of objects and the parameters such as shape and area can be measured more precisely. In order to overcome the above problem, a feature-based image registration (FBIR) method in combination with an improved version of canny with fuzzy logic is proposed for accurate detection of edges. The major contributions of the present work are summarized in three steps. In the first step, a restoration-based enhancement algorithm is proposed to get a fine image from a distorted noisy image. In the second step, two versions of input images are registered using a modified FBIR approach. In the third step, to overcome the drawback of canny edge detection algorithm, each step of the algorithm is modified. The output is then fed to a “fuzzy inference system”. The “fuzzy rule-based technique”, when applied to the problem of “edge detection”, is very “efficient” because the thickness of the edges can be controlled by simply changing “rules and output parameters”. The domain of the images under consideration is various well-known image databases such as Berkeley and USC-SIPI databases, whereas the proposed method is also suitable for other types of both indoor and outdoor images. The robustness of the proposed method is analysed, compared and evaluated with seven image assessment quality (IAQ) parameters. The performance of the proposed method is compared with some of the state-of-the-art edge detection methods in terms of the seven IAQ parameters.
