[Termes IGN] factorisation de CholeskyIndex. décimale : 30.10 Systèmes de référence et réseaux géodésiques Résumé : (Auteur) The theory of roundoff errors for linear equations is adapted and applied to a linear system of 350,000 unknowns, representing the normal equations of the U.S.-ground control network now being readjusted. The system is positive definite and sparse. Cholesky's algorithm is used. The equations are reordered in a way dictated by the Helmert blocking technique. The block design is based on nested dissection. A linear stochastic roundoff error propagation model is used. Two families of computers are considered that come close to representing the two extremal cases of true chopping and true rounding, the CDC 6600 (with the round-ing option set into effect) and the IBM 360. Structural properties of the U.S. net-work relevant to roundoff error propagation are thoroughly investigated. Next to the large size of the network, weight singularities from observations of extremely high accuracy cause some concern. Bounds on bias and standard deviation of the individual components of the solution vector are derived. They indicate that the new adjustment of the North American Datum (NAD) is feasible on both types of computers. [Termes IGN] restauration d'imageIndex. décimale : 35.20 Traitement d'image Résumé : (auteur) Development of computer programs for geometric rectification of digital images is a part of this study. These programs are, combined with programs for digital image analysis, important tools for handling of digital remote sensing data, obtained from, for example, LANDSAT. Here is shown how digital images from multispectral line scanners, both satellite and airborne, can be corrected for lacking geometric fidelity, thus giving a high point accuracy when localising objects from image data. By the use of a digital terrain model in the rectifiation of single strips of scanner imagery, the point accuracy can be as good for data over hilly terrain as for flat terrain. The point accuracy obtained is, for airborne scanner data, 2 pixels, expressed as a root mean square of residuals in check points. The corresponding value for satellite data ( LANDSAT ) is less than I pixel, when rectifying a part of a scene. By using ground control points for the rectification, data can be forced to match a suitable map projection. This gives certain advantages in the succeding use of the data. For example, a comparision with earlier conditions obtained from digitized map data or available in a co—ordinate based register demands the use of rectified data. The use of rectified data also helps the analyst in the identification and demarcation of training areas for the supervised multispectral classification. Also, rectified data constitutes the basis for an inclusion of data from different times in a multitemporal analysis. Doing so the classification accuracy can be increased of some objects and changes of the object can be studied. Information of other kind than spectral can be included in the classification as well. Here one way of utilizing topographic information to get a better discrimination between objects is presented. Note de contenu : Introduction
