[Termes IGN] réseau permanent EUREFRésumé : (auteur) The EUREF Permanent Network Densification is a collaborative effort of 26 European GNSS analysis centers providing series of daily or weekly station position estimates of dense national and regional GNSS networks, in order to combine them into one homogenized set of station positions and velocities. During the combination, the station metadata, including station names, DOMES numbers, and position offset definitions were carefully homogenized, position outliers were efficiently eliminated, and the results were cross-checked for any remaining inconsistencies. The results cover the period from March 1999 to January 2017 (GPS week 1000-1933) and include 31 networks with positions and velocities for 3192 stations, well covering Europe. The positions and velocities are expressed in ITRF2014 and ETRF2014 reference frames based on the Minimum Constraint approach using a selected set of ITRF2014 reference stations. The position alignment with the ITRF2014 is at the level of 1.5, 1.2, and 3.2 mm RMS for the East, North, Up components, respectively, while the velocity RMS values are 0.17, 0.14, and 0.38 mm/year for the East, North, and Up components, respectively. The high quality of the combined solution is also reflected by the 1.1, 1.1, and 3.5 mm weighted RMS values for the East, North, and Up components, respectively. [Termes IGN] tectoniqueRésumé : (auteur) The broader area of Athens, a region exhibiting relatively low crustal deformation, was stroke in 1999 by a catastrophic earthquake posing serious questions regarding strain accumulation in slow deforming regions located within active geodynamic regimes. In the present study, the establishment of a dense geodetic network, primarily designed to monitor local tectonic movements is reported. A comprehensive GNSS velocity field, over the period 2005–2008, as well as calculated geodetic strain rates is presented. It is shown that a single strain tensor is insufficient to express the heterogeneity of the local geodetic field. Local variability of strain is successfully depicted, indicating the western part of Athens as the area of higher strain accumulation. Maximum dilatation rates occur along a NNE-SSW direction between Parnitha Mt. and Thriasio basin. The observed dilatation can be associated to WNW-ESE trending active fault zones, which appear to abruptly terminate towards East along a major NNE-SSW Miocene tectonic boundary. These findings are consistent to the stress field responsible for the Athens 1999 earthquake, also in agreement with geological and tectonic observations. Finally, the implications of the observed motion field on the understanding of the kinematics and dynamics of the region as well as the role of inherited inactive tectonic structures are discussed. [Termes IGN] système de référence localRésumé : (Auteur) Greece has always been an interesting study area for the geodesists due to its intense geodynamic behaviour. Especially, the exploitation of a modern geodetic velocity field using GNSS becomes a crucial requirement for geodetic purposes. The main aim of the present study is the assessment of a modern geodetic velocity model. This procedure is based on the unification of various reference frames, implemented from individual extended GNSS campaigns in different epochs with the effective involvement of the Hellenic Military Geographic Service. The implementation of geodetic velocities in the inhomogeneous Greek velocity field improves significantly the reliability of transformations, more than 60% with respect to the horizontal component, applying a vice versa time shift to a common epoch. We also emphasise the necessity to adopt a velocity model in order to process regional GNSS networks and therefore to establish a modern semi-kinematic reference frame in Greece. The utility of this MESF methodology is even more impressive for the non-Gaussian models because its flexible structure enables it to be easily applied to generalized linear models, which include Poisson, binomial, and negative binomial regression. However, the implementation of MESF can be computationally challenging, especially when the number of geographic units, n, is large, or massive, such as with a remotely sensed image. This intensive computation aspect has been a drawback to the use of MESF, particularly for analyzing a remotely sensed image, which can easily contain millions of pixels. Motivated by Curry, this paper proposes an approximation approach to constructing eigenvector spatial filters (ESFs) for a large spatial tessellation. This approximation is based on a divide-and-conquer approach. That is, it constructs ESFs separately for each sub-region, and then combines the resulting ESFs across an entire remotely sensed image. This paper, employing selected specimen remotely sensed images, demonstrates that the proposed technique provides a computationally efficient and successful approach to implement MESF for large or massive spatial tessellations. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) Singular spectrum analysis (SSA) has recently been applied to various geodetic time series studies. As a data-adaptive method, SSA is capable of extracting signals with non-constant phase and amplitudes. Although SSA is a competent method in the presence of white noise, the contribution of colored noise, having semi-periodic behavior, degrades its performance. Parts of colored noise can be absorbed in the SSA eigenmodes, which specifies signals and hence resulting in spurious modulation or losing significant signals. Signals and colored noise are thus to be discriminated in the signal identification procedure. Monte Carlo SSA (MCSSA) in its original formulation, providing a significance test against the AR(1) noise null hypothesis, can be misinterpreted when other colored noise structures contribute to the series. We propose an algorithm for MCSSA that is not limited to the AR(1) noise hypothesis. It estimates the noise model parameters using LS-VCE and generates the surrogate data using the Cholesky decomposition. The algorithm is adapted to GPS position time series where the underlying noise is a combination of white noise and flicker noise. GPS position time series, postulated real situation, are first simulated to include annual and semiannual signals plus white and flicker noise. The results indicate that MCSSA can extract the annual and semiannual signals with 2.11 and 1.25 mm amplitudes (the global mean values) from 20-year-long time series, with 95% confidence level, if flicker noise is less than 17 and 13 mm/year1/4mm/year1/4, respectively. The longer the time series or the stronger the signals are, the higher these thresholds will be. This conclusion is also verified when applying MCSSA to the up component of GPS position time series of 347 JPL stations.
