[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Public transit infrastructure may increase residential property values by improving accessibility and reducing commute expenses in urban areas. Prior studies have investigated the impacts of the proximity to public transportation on property values and obtained mixed conclusions. Many of these studies were focused on one transit mode for a single city. In this study, a hedonic pricing model is constructed to investigate the impacts of commuter rail/Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and bus lines separately in two different areas: the Stamford area (Stamford–Darien–New Canaan) and the Hartford area (Hartford–West Hartford–East Hartford), Connecticut. Comparison of the results from Ordinary Least Square and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) indicates that estimation accuracy can be improved by considering local variation. Results from GWR show that impacts of proximity to bus and rail/BRT on property values vary spatially in the Hartford area. Negative impacts of bus stops are found in downtown Hartford and positive impacts in the west and east sides of Hartford. Impacts from rail/BRT are relatively minor compared with bus lines, partly due to the relatively recent launching of the BRT and Hartford rail line. In contrast, most properties in the Stamford area show appreciation towards rail service and depreciation to bus service. This study reveals the roles of different public transit systems in affecting residential property values. It also provides empirical evidence for future transit-oriented development in this region for uplifting the real estate market. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) To attenuate positional errors of LiDAR-derived datasets for constructing digital elevation models (DEMs), a feature-preserving point denoising algorithm (F-PDA) is developed in this paper. F-PDA includes three main steps: surface normal estimation, normal filtering and point position update. Numerical tests with two simulated surfaces indicate that F-PDA is always more accurate than kriging and natural neighbour. Furthermore, F-PDA has a high effectiveness of preserving feature lines. Real-world examples of interpolating LiDAR samples demonstrate that F-PDA can best retain both prominent and subtle terrain features, while faithfully removing errors in mountainous and flat regions. Moreover, it outperforms some well-known interpolation methods. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) The study objective is to predict the epidemiological impact of dengue fever arbovirosis in urban tropical areas of Pakistan. To do so, we used the GPS-based data of the Aedes larvae collected during 2014–2015 in Lahore. We developed a Geographically Weighted Logistic Regression (GWLR) model for Geospatially predicting larvae presence or absence in Lahore. Data on rainfall, temperature are included along with time series of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) derived from Landsat imagery. We observed a high spatial variability of the GWLR parameter estimates of these variables in the study area. The GWLR model significantly (R2a = 0.78) explained the presence or absence of Aedes larvae with temperature, rainfall and NDVI variables in South and Southeast of the study area. In the North and North-West, however, GWLR relationships were observed weak in highly populated areas. Interpolating GWLR coefficients generate more accurate maps of Aedes larvae presence or absence. In mobile mapping systems, a simultaneous mapping of the environment using laser scanning and an accurate positioning using global navigation satellite systems are targeted. This requirement is often not guaranteed in shadowed cities where global navigation satellite system signals are usually disturbed, weak or even unavailable. We propose a novel approach which incorporates prior knowledge (i.e., a 3D city model of the environment) and improves the trajectory. The recorded point cloud is matched with the semantic city model using a point‐to‐plane iterative closest point method. A pre‐classification step enables an informed sampling of appropriate matching points. Random forest is used as classifier to discriminate between facade and remaining points. Local inconsistencies are tackled by a segmentwise partitioning of the point cloud where an interpolation guarantees a seamless transition between the segments. The general applicability of the method implemented is demonstrated on an inner‐city data set recorded with a mobile mapping system. [Termes IGN] optimisation par essaim de particulesRésumé : (auteur) Process-based ecosystem models are increasingly used to simulate the effects of a changing environment on vegetation growth in the past, present, and future. To improve the simulation, the multimodel ensemble mean (MME) and ensemble Bayesian model averaging (EBMA) methods are often used in optimizing the integration of ecosystem model ensemble. These two methods were compared with four other optimization techniques, including genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), cuckoo search (CS), and interior-point method (IPM), to evaluate their efficiency in this article. Here, we focused on eight commonly used ecosystem models to simulate vegetation growth, represented by the growing season leaf area index (LAIgs), collected globally from 2000 to 2014. The performances of the multimodel ensembles and individual models were compared using the satellite-observed LAI products as the reference. Generally, ensemble simulations provide more accurate estimates than individual models. There were significant performance differences among the six tested methods. The IPM ensemble model simulated LAIgs more accurately than the other tested models, as the reduction in the root-mean-square error was 84.99% higher than the MME results and 61.50% higher than the EBMA results. Thus, IPM optimization can reproduce LAIgs trends accurately for 91.62% of the global vegetated area, which is double the area of the results from MME. Furthermore, the contributions and uncertainties of the individual models in the final simulated IPM LAIgs changes indicated that the best individual model (CABLE) showed the greatest area fraction for the maximum IPM weight (32.49%), especially in the low-lalitude to midlatitude areas.
