[Termes IGN] surface cultivéeRésumé : (auteur) It is critical to inventory abandoned farmland soon after it is generated, to better manage agricultural resources and to prevent negative consequences that would otherwise follow. This study aims to distinguish abandoned farmlands from active croplands—rice paddy and agricultural fields—by discerning the phenological trajectories over a short-term period of three years (Jan. 2016 to Dec. 2018) in Gwanyang City in South Korea. For Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification, we fully utilized parameters derived from harmonic analyses of the three vegetation indices (VIs: NDVI, NDWI, and SAVI) extracted from Sentinel-2A imagery. The harmonic analyses proved that higher-order sinusoid components produced better fitting to explain the trajectory of the VIs—the maximum adjusted was 95.23%—and the multiple VIs diversified the attributes for the classifications. Consequently, the higher-order harmonic components and the additional VIs increased the accuracy when used in SVM classification. The best performing classification was achieved with a composite of harmonic terms derived from the three VIs, yielding overall accuracy of 90.72%, Kappa index of 0.858, and user’s accuracy for abandoned farmland of 93.40%. The proposed method here would greatly improve the process of detecting abandoned farmland, despite a relatively short observation period, and enable a rapid response to the occurrence of abandonment. [Termes IGN] processus gaussienRésumé : (auteur) Low-pass filters are commonly used for the processing of airborne gravity observations. In this paper, for the first time, we include the resulting correlations consistently in the functional and stochastic model of residual least-squares collocation. We demonstrate the necessity of removing high-frequency noise from airborne gravity observations, and derive corresponding parameters for a Gaussian low-pass filter. Thereby, we intend an optimal combination of terrestrial and airborne gravity observations in the mountainous area of Colorado. We validate the combination in the frame of our participation in ‘the 1 cm geoid experiment’. This regional geoid modeling inter-comparison exercise allows the calculation of a reference solution, which is defined as the mean value of 13 independent height anomaly results in this area. Our result performs among the best and with 7.5 mm shows the lowest standard deviation to the reference. From internal validation we furthermore conclude that the input from airborne and terrestrial gravity observations is consistent in large parts of the target area, but not necessarily in the highly mountainous areas. Therefore, the relative weighting between these two data sets turns out to be a main driver for the final result, and is an important factor in explaining the remaining differences between various height anomaly results in this experiment. It is a fast approach but not optimal because it relies only on pairs and triplets of images and it is not a joint optimisation. In this publication we present a methodology that increases the quality of global solutions without the usual computational burden tied to the bundle adjustment. We propose an efficient structure approximation approach that relies on relative motions known upfront. Using the approximated structure, we are capable of refining the initial poses at very low computational cost. Compared to different benchmark datasets and software solutions, our approach improves the processing times while maintaining good accuracy. [Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (auteur) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is now widely used for continuous ionospheric observations. Three-dimensional computerized ionospheric tomography (3DCIT) is an important tool for the reconstruction of electron density distributions in the ionosphere through effective use of the GNSS data. More specifically, the 3DCIT technique is able to resolve the three-dimensional electron density distributions over the reconstructed area based on the GNSS slant total electron content (STEC) observations. We present an Improved Constrained Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique (ICSIRT) algorithm that differs from the traditional ionospheric tomography methods in 3 ways. First, the ICSIRT computes the electron density corrections based on the product of the intercept and electron density within voxels so that the assignment of corrections at different heights becomes more reasonable. Second, an Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation is used to restrict the electron density values in the voxels not traversed by GNSS rays, thereby ensuring the smoothness of the reconstructed region. Also, to improve the reconstruction accuracy around the HmF2 (the peak height of the F2 layer) altitude, a multiresolution grid is adopted in the vertical direction, with a 10-km resolution from 200 to 420 km and a 50-km resolution at other altitudes. The new algorithm has been applied to the GNSS data over the European and North American regions in different case studies that involve different seasonal conditions as well as a major storm. In the European region experiment, reconstruction results show that the new ICSIRT algorithm can effectively improve the reconstruction of the GNSS data. The electron density profiles retrieved from ICSIRT are much closer to the ionosonde observations than those from its predecessor, namely, the Constrained Simultaneous Iteration Reconstruction Technique (CSIRT). The reconstruction accuracy is significantly improved. In the North American region experiment, the electron density profiles in ICSIRT results show better agreement with incoherent scatter radar observations than CSIRT, even for the topside profiles. [Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) This paper describes the methods used to estimate positions, velocities, breaks, and seasonalterms from daily Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements. Break detection and outlierremoval have been automated so that decades of daily measurements from thousands of stations can beprocessed in a few hours. New measurements are added, and parameters are updated every week. Modelparameters allow separation of interseismic, annual, coseismic, and postseismic signals. Tools availablethrough GeoGateway (http://geo-gateway.org) allow rapid visualization and analysis of these terms forresults that can be subsetted in time or space. Results show highly variable and nonlinear motion for GPSstations in southern California. The variable motion is related to seasonal motions, distributed tectonicmotion, earthquakes, and postseismic motions that can continue for years. In some areas results suggest thatadditional processes are responsible for the observed motions. In general, following earthquakes, stationsreturn to their longterm motions after 2–3 years, though some exceptions occur. The use of the tools showsnonlinear motion in the Salton Trough of southern California related to the 2010 M7.2 El MayorCucapahearthquake, 2012 Brawley earthquake swarm, and a creep event on the Superstition Hills fault in 2017.
