[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In object-based image analysis, how to produce accurate segmentation is usually a very important issue that needs to be solved before image classification or target recognition. The study for segmentation evaluation method is key to solving this issue. Almost all of the existent evaluation strategies only focus on the global performance assessment. However, these methods are ineffective for the situation that two segmentation results with very similar overall performance have very different local error distributions. To overcome this problem, this paper presents an approach that can both locally and globally quantify segmentation incorrectness. In doing so, region-overlapping metrics are utilized to quantify each reference geo-object's over and under-segmentation error. These quantified error values are used to produce segmentation error maps which have effective illustrative power to delineate local segmentation error patterns. The error values for all of the reference geo-objects are aggregated through using area-weighted summation, so that global indicators can be derived. An experiment using two scenes of very different high resolution images showed that the global evaluation part of the proposed approach was almost as effective as other two global evaluation methods, and the local part was a useful complement to comparing different segmentation results. [Termes IGN] reconstruction d'objetRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a novel approach to recover true fine surface detail of deforming meshes reconstructed from multi-view video. Template-based methods for performance capture usually produce a coarse-to-medium scale detail 4D surface reconstruction which does not contain the real high-frequency geometric detail present in the original video footage. Fine scale deformation is often incorporated in a second pass by using stereo constraints, features, or shading-based refinement. In this paper, we propose an alternative solution to this second stage by formulating dense dynamic surface reconstruction as a global optimization problem of the densely deforming surface. Our main contribution is an implicit representation of a deformable mesh that uses a set of Gaussian functions on the surface to represent the initial coarse mesh, and a set of Gaussians for the images to represent the original captured multi-view images. We effectively find the fine scale deformations for all mesh vertices, which maximize photo-temporal-consistency, by densely optimizing our model-to-image consistency energy on all vertex positions. Our formulation yields a smooth closed form energy with implicit occlusion handling and analytic derivatives. Furthermore, it does not require error-prone correspondence finding or discrete sampling of surface displacement values. We demonstrate our approach on a variety of datasets of human subjects wearing loose clothing and performing different motions. We qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrate that our technique successfully reproduces finer detail than the input baseline geometry. [Termes IGN] optimisation (mathématiques)Résumé : (Auteur) In order to provide reliable information about the instantaneous field of view considered in hyperspectral images through spectral unmixing, understanding the kind of mixture that occurs over each pixel plays a crucial role. In this paper, in order to detect nonlinear mixtures, a method for fast identification of linear mixtures is introduced. The proposed method does not need statistical information and performs an a priori test on the spectral linearity of each pixel. It uses standard least squares optimization to achieve estimates of the likelihood of occurrence of linear combinations of endmembers by taking advantage of the geometrical properties of hyperspectral signatures. Experimental results on both real and synthetic data sets show that the aforesaid algorithm is actually able to deliver a reliable and thorough assessment of the kind of mixtures present in the pixels of the scene. [Termes IGN] tenseurRésumé : (Auteur) Deformation monitoring by multipass synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) is, so far, the only imaging-based method to assess millimeter-level deformation over large areas from space. Past research mostly focused on the optimal retrieval of deformation parameters on the basis of a single pixel or a pixel cluster. Only until recently, the first demonstration of object-based urban infrastructure monitoring by fusing InSAR and the semantic classification labels derived from optical images was presented by Wang et al. Given such classification labels in the SAR image, we propose a general framework for object-based InSAR parameter retrieval, where the parameters of the whole object are jointly estimated by the inversion of a regularized tensor model instead of pixelwise. Our approach does not assume the stationarity of each sample in the object, which is usually assumed in other pixel cluster-based methods, such as SqueeSAR. In addition, to handle outliers in real data, a robust phase recovery step prior to parameter retrieval is also introduced. In typical settings, the proposed method outperforms the current pixelwise estimators, e.g., periodogram, by a factor of several tens in the accuracy of the linear deformation estimates. Last but not least, for a practical demonstration on bridge monitoring, we present a full workflow of long-term bridge monitoring using the proposed approach. [Termes IGN] méthode de réduction d'énergieRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we propose a novel superpixel-based intrinsic image decomposition (SIID) framework for hyperspectral images. Intrinsic images are usually referred to the separation of shading and reflectance components from an input image. Considering the high dimensionality of hyperspectral images, we further decompose the shading component into the product of environment illumination and surface orientation changes, thus modeling the problem more properly. The proposed method consists of the following steps. First, we build two superpixel segmentation maps of different scales, i.e., a finer one that is oversegmented and a coarser one that is undersegmented. Based on the observation that the finer superpixel map achieves a higher segmentation accuracy, whereas the coarser superpixel map tends to reserve the objectness of the original image, we model the SIID decomposition problem in a matrix form based on the finer superpixel map and define a constraint matrix by integrating the information in the coarser superpixel map. The constraint matrix is introduced as a secondary constraint in order to make the ill-posed IID problem solvable. Finally, we transform the original decomposition problem into minimizing the Frobenius norm of the proposed matrix energy function and iteratively derive the solution. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is able to achieve a performance outperforming the state-of-the-art while making a great improvement in efficiency.
