[Termes IGN] reconstruction d'imageRésumé : (auteur) This article introduces a probabilistic Bayesian model for addressing the problem of compressive multipolarization through-wall radar imaging (TWRI). The proposed approach formulates the task of wall-clutter mitigation and multipolarization image reconstruction as a Bayesian inference problem for a joint distribution between observed radar measurements and latent wall-clutter matrix and indoor target images. The joint probability distribution incorporates three prior beliefs: low-dimensional structure of the wall reflections, group sparsity structure of the target images, and joint sparsity among the polarization images. These signal attributes are modeled through hierarchical priors, whose parameters and hyperparameters are treated with a full Bayesian formulation. Furthermore, this article presents a variational Bayesian inference algorithm that estimates wall-clutter and multipolarization images as posterior distributions and optimizes the model parameters and hyperparameters simultaneously. Experimental results on simulated and real radar data show that the proposed model is very effective at removing wall clutter and enhancing target localization even when the radar measurements are significantly reduced. [Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) MODIS-based NDVI time series (2000–2016) was applied to monitor sub-annual forest disturbance in the Mexican state of Michoacán, with an algorithm that decomposes the time-series data into a harmonic function and a trend. To detect change, a moving sum of residuals between the observed and predicted NDVI values was compared with that from the reference period. Magnitude of change was computed by subtracting the predicted NDVI from the observed one. By comparing the detected changes with reference data through visual interpretation, a threshold of |0.05| was established as the magnitude of change for forest disturbance detection. The method detected more forest gain than loss for 2013–2016, a result which is supported by recent findings from the national forest inventory. Forest loss decreases yearly for 2013–2016, and forest gain peaks at 2014 and 2015. We verified the findings with data from the global forest cover change project. Determining how to optimize the spatial layout of impervious surfaces is the focus of urban waterlogging prevention in urban renewal. The existing urban-renewal methods include constructing low-impact development measures by reducing the area of impervious surfaces or implementing a local high-strength design based on the ant colony algorithm (ACA) from the viewpoint of optimization design. However, these methods have obvious shortcomings in terms of time efficiency, and their optimized design schemes are insufficient at considering the global impervious surface design. Therefore, to address these problems, the study proposes a coupled model of multivariate linear programming and Soil Conservation Service curve number. The model is employed in the central city of Guangzhou, China. The results show, first, that the optimal design of impervious surfaces in urban renewal is to construct a discontinuous connection of high-low-high-density impervious surfaces; second, that, compared with ACA, our method has higher robustness, increases the average optimization rate by 4.48 to 14.00%, and reduces the optimization time over 30 days to 20.8 s; and third, that the optimal results realize the global low-strength transformation as complements of the existing design scheme of local high-strength transformation. This study optimizes methods for alleviating urban waterlogging urban renewal at different scales or intensities. However, there has been a notable disconnection between the tools of GIS and optimization, constraining the capability of spatial decision-making in GIS. This article presents relational linear programming (RELP), a new framework and tool for bridging the gap between the two fields by integrating a generic optimization solver into GIS: a solver for integer linear programming (ILP). In particular, we choose relational/spatial databases as the GIS platform. We demonstrate that not only data, but also programs for spatial problems (in the form of ILP) can be managed and executed in SQL inside spatial databases. The main focus of this article is on location modeling, and we show how classic models can be formulated succinctly in a declarative way using SQL. The declarative approach of RELP allows researchers to focus on formulating new spatial decision problems without being bogged down in sophisticated programming. The integrated approach allows data processing and decision-making in one language. Therefore, it brings the power of location modeling to non-specialist GIS practitioners. [Termes IGN] trajectoire (véhicule non spatial)Résumé : (auteur) Terrestrial close-range photogrammetry offers a low-cost method of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of forest stands that provides automatically processable 3D data that can be used to evaluate inventory parameters of forest stands and individual trees. However, fundamental methodological problems in image acquisition and processing remain. This study enhances the methodology of photogrammetric Structure from Motion reconstruction of forest stands by determining the best photographer's trajectory for image acquisition. The study comprises 1) mathematical optimization of the route in a square grid using integer programming, 2) evaluation of point clouds derived from sequences of real photographs, simulating different trajectories, and 3) verification on real trajectories. In a forest research plot, we established a 1 m square grid of 625 (i.e., 25 × 25) photographic positions, and at each position, we captured 16 photographs in uniformly spaced directions. We adopted real tree positions and diameters, and the coordinates of the photographic positions, including orientation angles of captured images, were recorded. We then formulated an integer programming optimization model to find the most efficient trajectory that provided coverage of all sides of all trees with sufficient counts of images. Subsequently, we used the 10,000 captured images to produce image subsets simulating image sequences acquired during the photographer's movement along 84 different systematic trajectories of seven patterns based on either parallel lines or concentric orbits. 3D point clouds derived from the simulated image sequences were evaluated for their suitability for automatic tree detection and estimation of diameters at breast height. The results of the integer programming model indicated that the optimal trajectory consisted of parallel line segments if the camera is pointed forward – in the travel direction, or concentric orbits if the camera is pointed to a side – perpendicular to the travel direction. With point clouds derived from the images of the simulated trajectories, the best diameter estimates on automatically detected trees were achieved with trajectories consisting of parallel lines in two perpendicular directions where each line was passed in both opposite directions. For efficient image acquisition, resulting in point clouds of reasonable quality with low counts of images, a trajectory consisting of concentric orbits, including the plot perimeter with the camera pointed towards the plot center, proved to be the best. Results of simulated trajectories were verified with the photogrammetric reconstruction of the forest stand based on real trajectories for six patterns. The mathematical optimization was consistent with the results of the experiment, which indicated that mathematical optimization may represent a valid tool for planning trajectories for photogrammetric 3D reconstruction of scenes in general.
