[Termes IGN] zone d'intérêtRésumé : (auteur) In this study, we propose a novel region-line primitive association framework (RLPAF) for OBIA. In this framework, segments (region primitive) and straight lines (line primitive) are obtained by image segmentation and straight line detection, respectively, before their corresponding intra-primitive features are extracted. An association model is built on inter-primitive topology and direction relationships. Several region-line collaborative features are also derived. Image analysis is then performed based on both region and line primitives. The advantage of RLPAF is the collaborative utilization of complementary information between regions and lines throughout the entire OBIA process: from image segmentation, to feature extraction, and finally, object recognition. To validate this framework, RLPAF is applied on road network extraction from high spatial resolution (HSR) remote sensing images. Experiments show that the proposed framework and methods refine primitive shape and spatial relationship analyses, as well as obtain higher method accuracy, than OBIAs based on only regions. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] triangulation (topologie)Résumé : (auteur) Querying visible points is a fundamental problem in computational geometry and spatial databases. With the development of new applications such as trip planning and nearest neighbors, querying visible points plays a key role in obstacle space and the result can be further used such as defining the shortest path. Thereby, efficiently finding the result is essentially important. However, the performance of current methods decrease substantially for large datasets. To solve the problem, we proposes a new and fast algorithm to find visible points for an arbitrary query location inside a large polygon containing obstacles. The method is based on polygon triangulation. By decomposing the polygon into a set of triangles, we manage the polygon by organizing triangles in an efficient way instead of maintaining a large number of vertices. We propose a data structure to partition the searching space into several parts, each of which is independently processed. Afterwards, by recursively calling a method we search visible points by accessing triangles and return the result in a progressive way. Through a theoretical analysis, assuming the polygon contains N vertices in total, the time complexity of our algorithm is O(N), improving the existing method O(N l o g N). We prove the correctness of the algorithm and analyze the space complexity, which is O(N). The technique is extended to return visible points less than a threshold distance to the query location. Using both synthetic and real datasets, we perform extensive experiments to test our algorithm and demonstrate its efficiency and effectiveness. Visible points are efficiently processed in a large obstacle space with over one million vertices. Experimental results show that our technique gains more than one order of magnitude speedup compared to competitive methods using large datasets. [Termes IGN] représentation cartographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Qualitative knowledge representation of spatial locations and relations is popular in many text-based media, for example, postings on social networks, news reports, and encyclopedia, as representing qualitative spatial locations is indispensable to infer spatial knowledge from them. However, an integrative model capable of handling direction-based locations of various spatial objects is missing. This study presents an integrative representation and inference framework about direction-based qualitative locations for points, lines, and polygons. In the framework, direction partitions of different types of reference objects are first unified to create a partition consisting of cells, segments, and corners. They serve as a frame of reference to locate spatial objects (e.g., points, lines, and polygons). Qualitative relations are then defined to relate spatial objects to the elements in a cell partition, and to form the model of qualitative locations. Last, based on the integrative representation, location-based reasoning mechanism is presented to derive topological relations between objects from their locations, such as point–point, line–line, point–line, point–polygon, line–polygon, and polygon–polygon relations. The presented model can locate any type of spatial objects in a frame of reference composed of points, lines, and polygons, and derive topological relations between any pairs of objects from the locations in a unified method. [Termes IGN] primitive géométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) Image matching is a critical process in photogrammetry and remote sensing. Automatic and reliable feature matching using well-distributed points in very high resolution images is a difficult task due to significant relief displacement caused by tall buildings and ground relief. In this paper a robust and efficient image-matching approach is proposed, consisting of two main steps. In the first step, three sets of local features – Harris points, UR-SIFT and MSER – are extracted over the entire image. A SIFT (scale-invariant feature transform) descriptor is then created for each extracted feature, and an initial cross-matching verification is performed using the Euclidean distance between feature descriptors. In the second step, an approach based on k-means clustering is performed to achieve accurate matching without mismatched features, followed by a consistency check using a local affine transformation model for each cluster. The proposed method is successfully applied to matching various aerial and satellite images and the results demonstrate its robustness and capability.
