[Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper addresses the problem of interferometric phase noise reduction in synthetic aperture radar interferometry. A new phase noise model in the complex domain is introduced and validated by using both simulated and real interferograms. This noise model is also derived in the complex wavelet domain, where a novel noise reduction algorithm, which is not based on a windowing process and without the necessity of phase unwrapping, is addressed. The use of the wavelet transform allows to maintain the spatial resolution in the filtered phase image and prevents to filter low coherence areas. By using both, simulated as well as real interferometric phase images, the performance of this algorithm, in terms of noise reduction, spatial resolution maintenance, and computational efficiency, is reported and compared with other conventional filtering approaches. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) Au début des années 90, les récepteurs GPS étaient des instruments de mesure révolutionnaires dans nos professions, destinés presque exclusivement à des applications géodésiques en post-traitement. Au fil de l'évolution technologique, de nouveaux constructeurs sont apparus, qui ont diversifié et accru les fonctions et les possibilités des récepteurs. Les applications GPS en temps réel ont rapidement pris le pas sur le post-traitement, et de plus en plus de récepteurs bon marché ouvrent de nouvelles perspectives dans le vaste domaine de la navigation et du guidage de personnes ou de mobiles. Aujourd'hui, le GPS est devenu une technique courante du géomaticien, qui est aussi utilisé de plus en plus en combinaison avec d'autres capteurs. Ce travail d'intégration permet de géoréférencer à l'aide du GPS les données fournies par les capteurs, et par conséquent de réaliser des cartographies thématiques. Cette méthodologie est utilisée par exemple pour les applications bathymétriques, par couplage d'un système GPS et d'un échosondeur, ou pour les assainissements de décharge en combinant un capteur de gaz au GPS. Dans cet article, nous proposons de présenter plus en détail l'intégration d'un radar au GPS destinée à la surveillance aérienne du manteau neigeux. [Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (Editeur) Over the past couple of years, there has been extensive discussion of the potential interference that ultra-wideband (UWB) radio signals might cause to GPS once UWB devices proliferate across the planet. But GPS is also susceptible to interference from more conventional transmissions both accidental and intentional (jamming). For example, a particular directional television receiving antenna widely available in the consumer market contains an amplifier which can emit spurious radiation in the GPS L1 frequency band with sufficient power to interfere with GPS reception at distances of 200 meters or more. Harmonic emissions from high-power television transmitters might also be a threat to GPS. Furthermore, the GPS L2 frequency is susceptible to interference from out-of-band signals from transmitters operating in the lower part of the 1240 to 1300 MHz band which is shared by terrestrial radiolocation services and amateur radio operators. As for intentional interference, the weak GPS signals can be readily jammed either by hostile forces during conflicts or by hackers who could easily construct a GPS jammer from a surplus home-satellite television receiver. How susceptible are GPS signals to interference and how can such interference be monitored ? [Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (Auteur) We present new interpretation of three classes of errors in digital terrain models (DTMs) which can be sources of artefacts in DTM-based studies: (a) errors in interpolation of digital elevation models (DEMs) caused by the Gibbs phenomenon; (b) errors in DTM derivation from DEMs with'enhanced' resolution due to noise increase after DEM differentiation; (c) errors in DTM derivation caused by displacement of a DEM grid. Explanation of artefact roots and ways to avoid them are carried out in the context of the theory of signal processing. The Gibbs phenomenon is a specific behaviour of some functions manifested as over- and undershoots near a jump discontinuity. Any DEM includes jump discontinuities of the elevation, such as escarpments and pronounced errors of DEM generation. There are four main ways to prevent or reduce DEM errors caused by the Gibbs phenomenon: (a) decreasing the jump discontinuity before DEM interpolation; (b) using interpolation functions which do not generate the Gibbs phenomenon; (c) omitting over- and undershoots after DEM interpolation; (d) filtering the Gibbs phenomenon. Derivation of topographic variables from DEMs marked by 'enhanced' resolution can lead to artefacts. If a DEM of this kind is interpolated by triangul ati on -based algorithms, triangular patterns may be revealed on maps of topographic variables. If an 'enhanced' resolution of DEM is achieved by the weighted average methods of interpolation, contour 'traces' may be seen on maps. This is because partial derivatives used to calculate some topographic variables are very responsive to high-frequency components of a DEM. To prevent these errors one should use a regular DEM with a grid space relating to an average distance between points in an irregular DEM. Displacement of a grid of points, wherein elevation values are interpolated or determined, influences the derivation of topographic variables (e.g. map design of horizontal and vertical curvatures). Some patterns break, merge, and change their width and length. Small dots, lines, and particles of big patterns can appear and disappear on maps. These effects should be taken into account in the application of these maps to DTM-based geological studies.
