[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) The main goal of this paper is to present a methodology for land evaluation by supporting decision-makers with reliable information for the land-use planning process. One of the focuses of this paper is given to the survey process and interpretation between soil survey, soil survey interpretation, and physical land evaluation. Such processes are realized using mobile mapping tools with integrated Global Position Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Both have increased the efficiency of data communication technologies by enabling real-time communication between people located in the field and office as well. For the soil classification as a key component of soil surveys is used World Reference Base (WRB) for Soil Resources. This is a common tool to summarize the wealth of information from soil profiles for the purpose of land evaluation. The final results showed a soil classification map. Such results are derived from many activities, since it includes a preliminary land evaluation, field soil survey with auger holes and profiles as well. This methodology is used for the first time in the selected study area. [Termes IGN] vulnérabilitéRésumé : (auteur) This study explores the groundwater vulnerability of the chalk aquifer (northern part of France) using a well-known overlay and index DRASTIC method for intrinsic scenario and using land use (LU) parameter as additional factor. Different sources have allowed to compile data necessary to map the vulnerability of the aquifer under study, which used to generate the seven parameters of DRASTIC, namely: groundwater Depth, groundwater Recharge, lithology, Soil media, Topography, Impact of the vadose zone and hydraulic Conductivity. Applying the model in ArcGIS 10.2 platform leads to identify three classes of vulnerability: low, medium and high vulnerability. The highest DRASTIC indexes appear in areas where the groundwater depth is low and in more permeable unsaturated zones. The LU has a little effect on the distribution of vulnerability classes: this distribution is marked by the low vulnerability 44% against 6.5 of high vulnerability. [Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) The present study develops ArcMap models to implement the following three methods: FAO-56 Penman–Monteith (FAO PM), Hargreaves–Samani (HS) and Hansen, with the former used as a reference. Moreover, three models implementing statistical indices (RMSD, MB, NMB) are also created. The purpose is threefold, as follows: to investigate the variability in the daily mean reference evapotranspiration (ETo) for the Decembers and Augusts during 2016–2019, over Peloponnese, Greece. Furthermore, to investigate the agreement between the methods’ ETo estimates, and examine the former along with MODIS ET (daily) averaged products. The study area is a complex Mediterranean area. Meteorological data from sixty-two stations under the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), and MODIS Terra LST products, have been employed. FAO PM is found sensitive to wind speed and depicts interactions among climate parameters (T, evaporative demand and water availability) in the frame of climate change. The years 2016–2019 are four of the warmest since the preindustrial era. Hargreaves–Samani’s estimations for the Decembers of 2016–2019 were almost identical to MODIS ET, despite their different physical meaning. However, for the Augusts there are considerable discrepancies between the methods’ and MODIS’s estimates, attributed to the higher evaporative demand in the summertime. The GIS models are accurate, reliable, time-saving, and adjustable to any study area. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Today, participation in social investment is a critical concern of urban management in metropolitan areas. To be effective in both public and private sectors, such participation requires an accurate knowledge of geographical distribution of resources and social needs in different parts of the city in order to better manage these investments. To this end, the present research aimed at providing an objective and tangible integrated approach to identify urban neighborhoods with high potential for social investment. The research area was neighborhoods located in Mashhad, Iran. Thirty-one criteria in three dimensions of empowerment, education, and culture were identified. Having determined, normalized, and weighted the values of each criteria in different neighborhoods using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method, the weight scores of each neighborhood in each dimension were added up by GIS approach and Arc GIS 10.1 software. Then, in order to conclude the overall status of social investment in different neighborhoods, a fuzzy inference system (FIS) was designed in the MATLAB 2014a environment according to experts’ opinions. Finally, based on the output of the designed system, the overall status of each neighborhood studied was determined in terms of social investment and neighborhoods with high potential for social investment were identified. The approach presented provides an insight for urban mangers, companies, and philanthropic investors to invest more effectively given the appropriate social investment opportunities.
