[Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) We present a new interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) processing approach that capitalizes on the precise orbit tracking that is available with modern radar satellites. Our method uses an accurate orbit information along with motion-compensation techniques to propagate the radar echoes to positions along a noninertial virtual orbit frame in which the location and focusing equations are particularly simple, so that images are focused without requiring autofocus techniques and are computed efficiently. Motion compensation requires two additional focus correction phase terms that are implemented in the frequency domain. If the images from an interferometric pair or stack are all computed along the same reference orbit, flat-Earth topographic correction is not needed, and image coregistration is simplified, obviating many difficulties that are often encountered in InSAR processing. We process several data sets collected by the ALOS PALSAR instrument and find that the geodetic accuracy of the radar images is 10-20 m, with up to 20 m of additional image distortion needed to align 100 km x 100 km scenes with reference digital elevation models. We validated the accuracy by using both known radar corner reflector locations and by the registration of the interferograms with digital maps. The topography-corrected interferograms are free from all geometric phase terms, and they clearly show the geophysical observables of crustal deformation, atmospheric phase, and ionospheric phase. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) The Satellite Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) has already demonstrated its potential to map co-, post- and inter-seismic deformation. This paper presents analysis of the surface-displacement field of the 12 May 2008 magnitude 8.0 Wenchuan Earthquake using the Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) DInSAR. Six PALSAR interferograms of paths 471 to 476 are generated. A new approach, which uses the information of overlapping interferograms, has been developed to compensate for orbit error. The main advantage of this approach is that the calculation is performed without the need for phase unwrapping. Once the orbit error has been compensated for, the interferograms are then merged to form a single interferogram. The final mosaic of interferograms demonstrates a much more consistent co-seismic surface-displacement field than the original interferograms. [Termes IGN] spatiotriangulationRésumé : (Auteur) Many spaceborne imagery products are provided with metadata or support data having diverse types, representations, frequencies, and conventions. According to the variability of metadata, a compatible physical sensor model approach must be constructed. Among the three component of the sensor model, i.e., trajectory model, projection equations, and parameter subset selection, the construction of the position and attitude trajectory is closely linked with the availability and type of support data. In this paper, we show how trajectory models can be implemented based on support data from six satellite image types: QuickBird, Hyperion, SPOT-3, ASTER. PRISM, and EROS-A. Triangulation for each image is implemented to investigate the feasibility and suitability of the different trajectory models. The results show the effectiveness of some of the simple models while indicating that careful use of dense ephemeris information is necessary. These results are based on having a number of high quality ground control points. [Termes IGN] Panchromatic Remote Sensing Instrument for Stereo Mapping
[Termes IGN] rayonnement proche infrarougeRésumé : (Auteur) The Advanced Land Observing Satellite [(ALOS); nicknamed ldquoDaichirdquo] was successfully launched on January 24, 2006, and it continues to work very well. This paper describes the calibrations of two optical instruments onboard ALOS, which are the Panchromatic Remote-sensing Instrument for Stereo Mapping (PRISM) and Advanced Visible and Near-Infrared Radiometer type 2 (AVNIR-2). PRISM consists of three panchromatic radiometers and is used to derive a digital surface model (DSM) with high spatial resolution, which is an objective of the ALOS mission. AVNIR-2 has four radiometric bands from blue to near infrared, which are used for investigating regional environment issues such as land-use and land-cover classifications, and disaster monitoring. In this paper, we introduce the calibration and validation plan, methodologies, accuracy assessments of the standard products, image quality evaluations for PRISM and AVNIR-2, and their results. Geometric calibration is important in generating a precise DSM by a stereo pair image of PRISM. The relative geometric calibrations of both PRISM and AVNIR-2 are conducted by evaluating accuracies within one scene and evaluating sensor alignments as absolute calibration. For absolute geometric accuracies, we achieved 8.1 m for nadir-looking images and 9.3 m for forward- and backward-looking images of PRISM; we also achieved 114.2 m for AVNIR-2. PRISM is also radiometrically calibrated both relatively and absolutely. PRISM relative radiometric calibration is accomplished by using acquired images over homogeneous targets, such as oceans, deserts, ice, and snow areas, as well as nighttime observation. Simultaneously observed images with calibrated AVNIR-2 are used for absolute radiometric calibration by cross-calibration. The absolute radiometric accuracy of the PRISM nadir-looking radiometer is similar to that of AVNIR-2.
