[Termes IGN] TibetRésumé : (auteur) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and remote sensing Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) represent earth’s surface elevation with reference to ellipsoid and orthometric heights. Proper estimation of the geoid (difference of ellipsoid and orthometric heights) is necessary before comparing data referenced to the different vertical datum. In this paper, an error in estimating EGM96 orthometric height is highlighted, verified by NGA/NASA developed model and MATLAB®. A significant error was found in the ArcGIS derived EGM96 orthometric heights range between ±6.9 meters. In addition, interpolation of low-resolution geoid data also produces significant biases depending on geographic location and the number of the interpolation data point. The bias was maximum negative in the central part of Tibetan Plateau and Himalaya. Therefore, estimation of orthometric height similar to NGA/NASA model precision is necessary for comparison of DEMs for natural resources management, 3D modelling and glaciers mass balance mainly in the mountainous regions. [Termes IGN] zone humideRésumé : (Editeur) Estuaries and their surrounding wetland regions are among the most productive ecosystems in the world, with more than half of humanity inhabiting their shores. Anthropogenic factors make estuaries highly susceptible to ecosystem degradation. Coastal waters are closely connected with human activity, and their dynamic processes may greatly affect coastal environments. This book provides a compendium of studies on estuarine dynamics, river plumes, and coastal water dynamics, studies that have investigated the changes in estuarine and coastal zones in response to sea-level rise and other environmental factors, and policy and management strategies to ensure the health and economy of coastal zones. This book aims to display novel frontiers in these fields and may help to inspire in-depth studies in the future. Note de contenu :

[Termes IGN] SuisseRésumé : (auteur) Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) antennas buried underneath a snowpack have a high potential for in situ snow water equivalent (SWE) estimation. Automated and continuous SWE quantification independent of weather conditions could enhance snow hydrological monitoring and modeling. Accurate and reliable in situ data are needed for the calibration and validation of remote sensing data and snowpack modeling. A relative bias of less than 5% is achieved using sub-snow global positioning system (GPS) antennas (GPS refractometry) during a three full seasons time period in the Swiss Alps. A systematic overview regarding the temporal reliability of the sub-snow GPS derived results is, however, missing for this emerging technique. Moreover, GPS processing impacts the results significantly. Different GPS processing parameters are therefore selected and their influence on the SWE estimation is investigated. The impact of elevation-dependent weighting, the elevation cutoff angles, and the time intervals for SWE estimation are systematically assessed. The best results are achieved using all observations with an elevation-dependent weighting scheme. Moreover, the SWE estimation performance is equally accurate for hourly SWE estimation as for lower temporal resolutions up to daily estimates. The impact of snow on the coordinate solution is furthermore evaluated. While the east and north components are not systematically influenced by the overlying snowpack, the vertical component exhibits a significant variation and strongly depends on the SWE. The biased vertical component therefore provides an additional possibility to estimate SWE. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] quasi-géoïdeRésumé : (auteur) This study compares four approaches of local quasigeoid modelling using GNSS/levelling height anomalies. The first two approaches utilise only a dense network of points with known GNSS/levelling height anomalies and the EGM2008 model. They are based on the interpolation of residual values of height anomalies by applying the least squares collocation (LSC) and the thin plate spline (TPS). The next two approaches use additional data in the form of surface gravity data and the digital elevation model. One of these approaches is based on the classical Molodensky method combined with LSC. The other approach utilises the method of geophysical gravity data inversion (GGI). During the research, the authors used a local network of points with precisely defined GNSS/levelling height anomalies located in South-Western Poland. They obtained comparable results for all tested approaches at the maximum analysed density of GNSS/levelling points (about 1point30km2). The differences between the modelling results became apparent only with an increase in the distance between the GNSS/levelling data points and the reduced accuracy of the used global geopotential model.
