[Termes IGN] mesure géodésiqueRésumé : (auteur) We use global data from the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA) to retrieve the lunar tidal Love number ℎ2 and find ℎ2=0.0387±0.0025. This result is in agreement with previous estimates from laser altimetry using crossover points of LOLA profiles. The Love numbers k2 and h2 are key constraints on planetary interior models. We further develop and apply a retrieval method based on a simultaneous inversion for the topography and the tidal signal benefiting from the large volume of LOLA data. By the application to the lunar tides, we also demonstrate the potential of the method for future altimetry experiments at other planetary bodies. The results of this study are very promising with respect to the determination of Mercury’s and Ganymede’s h2 from future altimeter measurements. [Termes IGN] surface de la merRésumé : (auteur) The very low-degree Earth’s gravity coefficients, associated with the largest-scale mass redistribution in the Earth’s fluid envelope (atmosphere, oceans and continental hydrology), are the most poorly known. In particular, the first three degree geopotential terms are important, as they relate to intrinsic Earth’s mass references: gravitational coefficient (GM) of the Earth (degree 0), geocenter motion (degree 1), Earth’s figure axis orientation (degree 2). This paper presents a self-consistent determination of these three properties of the Earth. The main objective is to deal with the remaining sources of altimetry satellite orbit uncertainties affecting the fundamental record of sea surface height measurements. The analysis identifies the modeling errors, which should be mitigated when estimating the geocenter coordinates from Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) observations. The long-term behavior of the degree-0 and -2 spherical harmonics is also observed over the 34-year period 1984–2017 from the long-time history of satellite laser tracking to geodetic spherical satellites. From the analysis of the evolution of these two coefficients, constraints regarding the Earth’s rheology and uncertainties in the value of GM could be inferred. Overall, the influence of the orbit characteristics, SLR station ranging/position biases and satellite signature effects, measurement modeling errors (tropospheric corrections, non-tidal deformations) are also discussed. [Termes IGN] précision des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) In the present study, the qualities of the HY-2B along-track significant wave heights (SWH) are assessed, including precision and accuracy. A quality evaluation based on 1 Hz standard deviations is proposed to detect the precision of HY-2B SWH products. The density plots of the (SWH, std) pairs obtained by the HY-2B, Jason-2 and Jason-3 are compared. And the results indicates that the HY-2B SWH root mean square error levels are significantly lower than those observed for the other altimeters. With respect to the SWH obtained from the wave rider buoys, buoys of the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), Jason-2 and Jason-3, the root mean square errors are 24 cm, 27 cm, 26 cm and 23 cm respectively. The comparison results confirm that the quality of the HY-2B SWH data higher. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (auteur) Altimetry data of two and a half years (June 2016–November 2018) of Sentinel-3A SRAL (S3A-SRAL) were validated at the sampling frequency of 80 Hz. The data were obtained from the European Space Agency (ESA) Grid Processing On Demand (GPOD) service over three coastal sites in Spain: Huelva (HU) (Gulf of Cádiz), Barcelona (BA) (Western Mediterranean Sea), and Bilbao (BI) (Bay of Biscay). Two tracks were selected in each site: one ascending and one descending. Data were validated using in situ tide gauge (TG) data provided by the Spanish Puertos del Estado. The altimetry sea level anomaly time series were obtained using the corrections available in GPOD with the exception of the sea state bias (SSB) correction, not available at 80 Hz. Hence, the SSB was approximated to 5% of the significant wave height (SWH). The validation was performed using two statistical parameters, the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) and the root mean square error (rmse). In the 5–20-km segment with respect to the coastline, the results were 6–8 cm (rmse) and 0.7–0.8 (r) for all the tracks. The 0–5-km segment was also analyzed in detail to study the land effect on the altimetry data quality. The results showed that the track orientation, the angle of intersection with the coast, and the land topography concur to determine the nearest distance to the coast at which the data retain a similar level of accuracy than in the 5–20-km segment. This “distance of good quality” to shore reaches a minimum of 3 km for the tracks at HU and the descending track at BA. [Termes IGN] zone humideRésumé : (Editeur) Estuaries and their surrounding wetland regions are among the most productive ecosystems in the world, with more than half of humanity inhabiting their shores. Anthropogenic factors make estuaries highly susceptible to ecosystem degradation. Coastal waters are closely connected with human activity, and their dynamic processes may greatly affect coastal environments. This book provides a compendium of studies on estuarine dynamics, river plumes, and coastal water dynamics, studies that have investigated the changes in estuarine and coastal zones in response to sea-level rise and other environmental factors, and policy and management strategies to ensure the health and economy of coastal zones. This book aims to display novel frontiers in these fields and may help to inspire in-depth studies in the future. Note de contenu :
