[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) Building orientation with respect to the radar look direction has a critical influence on the interpretation of multilook polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data in urban areas. In this paper, its impacts on polarimetric orientation angle (POA) estimation and model-based decomposition are discussed. The discussion begins with the analysis of the general double-bounce scattering model, of which the characteristics are dependent on the electromagnetic and geometric parameters of the related dihedral structure. Then, for multilook PolSAR data, the polarimetric scattering mechanism in urban areas is modeled by two double-bounce scatterings from two orthogonal dihedral structures. From the model, the impacts of the building orientation on POA estimation can be revealed. With the increase of the building orientation, the POA difference between the two dihedral structures increases gradually, and the feasibility to estimate the building orientation via the estimated POA is reduced dramatically. Upon further analysis, we illustrate the impacts on the model-based decomposition. With the increase of the building orientation, the dominant scattering mechanism labeling technique based on the model-based decompositions will gradually become invalid. Moreover, the processing of POA compensation, which is helpful in reducing the impacts of the building orientation, also becomes invalid when the building orientation increases to a certain value. At last, three L-band data sets of San Francisco acquired by AIRSAR are used to verify the inferences. The experimental results show that, for L-band PolSAR data in urban areas, when the radar look angle is around 45, the threshold of building orientation for the validity of dominant scattering mechanism labeling is about ±3, and for the POA compensation, the threshold is about ±12. [Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (Auteur) In recent years, call detail records (CDRs) have been widely used in human mobility research. Although CDRs are originally collected for billing purposes, the vast amount of digital footprints generated by calling and texting activities provide useful insights into population movement. However, can we fully trust CDRs given the uneven distribution of people’s phone communication activities in space and time? In this article, we investigate this issue using a mobile phone location dataset collected from over one million subscribers in Shanghai, China. It includes CDRs (~27%) plus other cellphone-related logs (e.g., tower pings, cellular handovers) generated in a workday. We extract all CDRs into a separate dataset in order to compare human mobility patterns derived from CDRs vs. from the complete dataset. From an individual perspective, the effectiveness of CDRs in estimating three frequently used mobility indicators is evaluated. We find that CDRs tend to underestimate the total travel distance and the movement entropy, while they can provide a good estimate to the radius of gyration. In addition, we observe that the level of deviation is related to the ratio of CDRs in an individual’s trajectory. From a collective perspective, we compare the outcomes of these two datasets in terms of the distance decay effect and urban community detection. The major differences are closely related to the habit of mobile phone usage in space and time. We believe that the event-triggered nature of CDRs does introduce a certain degree of bias in human mobility research and we suggest that researchers use caution to interpret results derived from CDR data. [Termes IGN] voie ferréeRésumé : (auteur) The quality of geodetic networks for guiding Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) inside long tunnels depends largely on the correct use of a gyroscope. These networks are based on a series of control points at the tunnel entrance, and link each station by means of survey observations as they advance along the tunnel. Once, the networks are used to guide the TBM, they are no longer checked again. It is necessary to perform high accuracy astronomical observations to stars in order to determine the gyrotheodolite constant. Since astronomical observations cannot be made inside tunnels, geodetic azimuths have to be used for the computations. However, these azimuths cannot theoretically be compared with the astronomical azimuths obtained by the gyrotheodolite. An alternative is to compute the instrument constant using the values of the deviation of the vertical derived from a geoid model. That is the approach used in this work where a methodology for the design of underground networks in long tunnels is also presented. This procedure has been implemented during the construction of the Guadarrama and Pajares high-speed railway tunnels (Spain). [Termes IGN] visibilitéRésumé : (auteur) There are two existing multi-GNSS positioning methods, (1) separate receiver clock parameter is set for each constellation, (2) estimating intersystem biases (ISBs) in advance to obtain position solutions with only four unknowns. The former is the regular method and its unknowns include three receiver-coordinate parameters and several receiver clock parameters (depend on the number of participant constellations), so that it may disable when few satellites belonging to different GNSS are in view. The latter is one workable way to obtain position solution with only four visible satellites. In addition to the disabled regular method, the positioning results by the ISB-corrected method are often unsatisfactory for navigation users in signal-degraded environment. Both the deviation of ISB-solutions and the remaining measurement errors of the need corrected observations are factors to degrade location precision. Apart from these, fewer visible satellites usually cause a low robustness of the positioning model, which cause the negative influence of various errors is amplified. Based on the variation of various measurement errors, we propose a new ISSB-corrected method with observations corrected by corresponding satellite-dependent parameters. The new parameter contains the difference of time scales, hardware delays and uncorrected measurement errors between the corresponding satellite and reference, in other words, it can synthetically consider measurement errors and the ISB. By the ISSB-corrected method, we not only achieve positioning solutions with four satellites, but also significantly reduce the accuracy loss. Many experiments are conducted to present the superiority of the ISSB-corrected method. In open-area, the accuracies of regular and ISB-corrected methods are nearly equal. Apart from a similar accuracy in horizontal, the accuracy is improved by approximate 10% in up direction with respect to the two existing methods. Given the high redundancy of model in open-area, the new method may not improve the accuracy remarkably. However, it can make great contributions in signal-degraded environments. In order to compare the performance of ISB- and ISSB-corrected methods in environment with limited visible satellites, we simulate several scenarios (different satellites participant or various receivers) with only four participant satellites in the positioning solution. By the ISSB-corrected method, the 3D RMS of positioning results with four satellites is about 15 m, while it is usually worse than 25 m for the ISB-corrected method. In an urban vehicular test, the horizontal positioning error of the ISSB-corrected method is less than 20 m; and the ISB-corrected method may reach up to 70 m.
