[Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (auteur) In recent years, considerable efforts have been made by cultural heritage institutions across the globe to digitise cultural heritage sites, artifacts, historical maps, etc. for digital preservation and online representation. On the other hand, ample research projects and studies have been published that demonstrate the great capabilities of web-geographic information systems (web-GIS) for the dissemination and online representation of cultural heritage data. However, cultural heritage data and the associated metadata produced by many cultural heritage institutions are heterogeneous. To make this heterogeneous data more interoperable and structured, an ever-growing number of cultural heritage institutions are adopting linked data principles. Although the cultural heritage domain has already started implementing linked open data concepts to the cultural heritage data, there are not many research articles that present an easy-to-implement, free, and open-source-based web-GIS architecture that integrates 3D digital cultural heritage models with cloud computing and linked open data. Furthermore, the integration of web-GIS technologies with 3D web-based visualisation and linked open data may offer new dimensions of interaction and exploration of digital cultural heritage. To demonstrate the high potential of integration of these technologies, this study presents a novel cloud architecture that attempts to enhance digital cultural heritage exploration by integrating 3D digital cultural heritage models with linked open data from DBpedia and GeoNames platforms using web-GIS technologies. More specifically, a digital interactive map, 3D digital cultural heritage models, and linked open data from DBpedia and GeoNames platforms were integrated into a cloud-based web-GIS architecture. Thus, the users of the architecture can easily interact with the digital map, visualise 3D digital cultural heritage models, and explore linked open data from GeoNames and DBpedia platforms, which offer additional information and context related to the selected cultural heritage site as well as external web resources. The architecture was validated by applying it to specific case studies of Australian cultural heritage and seeking expert feedback on the system, its benefits, and scope for improvement in the near future. [Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (auteur) Most of World’s mega-cities are facing high population growth. To accommodate the increased population, new built-up areas are emerging at the periphery or fringe area of cities. New urbanisation has an adverse impact on the existing Land Use Land Cover (LULC). To monitor and analyse the impact of urbanisation, LULC change analysis has become the primary concern for LULC monitoring agencies. In this study, LULC change of Chennai has been assessed during 1981–2011 using temporal Landsat data. All the dataset has been classified using Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC). Quantitative change in LULC has been carried out using Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient, Transition Potential Matrix, Land Use Dynamic Degree and MLC. Further, spatio-temporal change analysis has been performed using Post-classification comparison technique. Cellular Automata-Markov (CA-Markov) Model used for LULC prediction for 2021–2051. The urban area of Chennai has increased from 40.74 to 103.52 km2 during 1981–2011. Further, LULC prediction using the CA-Markov model shows that the urban area of Chennai district may increase from 103.52 to 140.79 km2 during 2011–2051. During the period 1981–2051, the prediction model indicates that mostly vegetation and barren land will be converted into urban land class. [Termes IGN] signalisation routièreRésumé : (Auteur) Due to the large volume and high redundancy of point clouds, there are many dilemmas in road-marking extraction algorithms, especially from uneven lidar point clouds. To extract road markings efficiently, this study presents a novel method for handling the uneven density distribution of point clouds and the high reflection intensity of road markings. The method first segments the point-cloud data into blocks perpendicular to the vehicle trajectory. Then it applies the double adaptive intensity-threshold method to extract road markings from road surfaces. Finally, it performs an adaptive spatial density filter based on the density distribution of point-cloud data to remove false road-marking points. The average completeness, correctness, and F measure of road-marking extraction are 0.827, 0.887, and 0.854, respectively, indicating that the proposed method is efficient and robust. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Ecosystem Services Web Services (ESWS) are new web-based approaches to quantifying the benefits that humans derive from nature. Specifically, ESWS are the application of open web standards to ecosystem service assessment to facilitate creation, iteration, and dissemination in a seamless way. This integration streamlines collaboration, automation, and curation, while providing an open interface through which novel advances can be incorporated. The approach creates a new level of interoperability through data provenance whereby each transition between processing steps employs standards that ensure cohesive workflows across models and platforms. This imparts a modularity that can be examined and extended at every step. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Urban Densification Suitability Analysis (UDSA) approach has been proposed using the GIS-based Logic Scoring of Preference (LSP) decision method. Our goal is to provide the methodology for the evaluation of suitability of locations for high density urban development to facilitate the spatial decision-making process and help justifiable urban planning. The main objectives of this research study are (1) to implement the GIS-based LSP method for high density urban growth suitability analysis, and (2) to perform an overall integrated suitability analysis for two key stakeholders, urban developer and urban planner. The LSP method is based on soft computing and used in the decision-making process to integrate large number of attribute criteria in a way that is consistent with human logic reasoning. The GIS-based LSP method is implemented using geospatial data for Metro Vancouver Region, Canada. Main criteria used to characterize the urban densification include recreation, transportation, existing development, economy, terrain, restrictions, and demography. The obtained results provide the distributions of suitability values and indicate that the opinions of two stakeholders differ. They select different locations as the most suitable for urban densifications and rather agree on the most unsuitable locations. The overall integrated suitability analysis has been performed with scenarios of possible decision-making outcomes between the two stakeholders. We introduce the concept of suitability agreement maps along with urban densification decision criteria. The analysis indicates that the GIS-based LSP method is a useful tool for measuring the similarities and differences in stakeholders' views and facilitating decision-making process for urban densification.
