[Termes IGN] TwitterRésumé : (auteur) Urban planners have been long interested in understanding how urban structure and activities are mutually influenced. Human mobility and economic activities naturally drive the formation of road network structure and the accessibility of the latter shapes the patterns of movement flow across urban space. In this paper, we perform an exploratory study on the relationship between the street network structure and the intensity of human movement in urban areas. We focus on two cities and we utilize a dataset of geo-tagged tweets that can form a proxy to urban mobility and the corresponding street networks as obtained from OpenStreetMap. We apply three network centrality measures, including closeness, betweenness and straightness centrality, calculated at a global or local scale, as well as under mixed or individual transportation mode (e.g., driving, biking and walking) with its directional accessibility, to uncover the structural properties of urban street networks. We further design an urban area transition network and apply PageRank to capture the intensity of human mobility. Our correlation analysis indicates different centrality metrics have different levels of correlation with the intensity of human movement. The closeness centrality consistently shows the highest correlation (with a coefficient around 0.6) with human movement intensity when calculated at a global scale, while straightness centrality often shows no correlation at the global scale or weaker correlation ρ≈0.4 at the local scale. The correlation levels further depend on the type of directional accessibility and of various types of transportation modes. Hence, the directionality and transportation mode, largely ignored in the analysis of road networks, are crucial. Furthermore, the strength of the correlation varies in the two cities examined, indicating potential differences in urban spatial structure and human mobility patterns. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) The classification and mapping accuracy of urban land cover and land use has always been a critical topic and several auxiliary data have been used to improve the classification accuracy. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is limited knowledge of the addition of airborne Light Detection and Ranging (lidar)-Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and Topographic Position Index (TPI) for urban land cover and land use classification and mapping. The aim of this study was to explore the addition of airborne lidar-DEM and derived TPI to reflect data of Landsat Operational Land Imager (OLI) in improving the classification accuracy of urban land cover and land use map- ping. Specifically, this study explored the mapping accuracies of urban land cover and land use classifications derived using: 1) standalone Landsat OLI satellite data; 2) Landsat OLI with acquired airborne lidar-DEM ; 3) Landsat OLI with TPI ; and 4) Landsat OLI with airborne lidar-DEM and derived TPI. The results showed that the addition of airborne lidar-DEM and TPI yielded the best overall urban land cover and land use classification accuracy of about 88%. The findings in this study demonstrated that both lidar-DEM and TPI had a positive impact in improving urban land cover and land use classification. [Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (auteur) Since urban growth results from frequent spatial interaction between urban units, adequate representation of spatial interaction is important for urban growth modeling. Among urban growth models, vector-based cellular automata (VCA) excels at expressing spatial interaction with realistic entities, and has accordingly been used extensively in recent studies. However, two issues with VCA modeling still remain: 1) inefficient manual selection of interaction targets with various neighborhood configurations; 2) inaccurate quantification of interaction intensity due to ignorance of spatial heterogeneity in entity interaction. To address these two limitations, this study proposed a novel VCA model with high-order graph attention network (HGAT-VCA). In this model, a graph structure is first built from the topology adjacency relationship between cadastral parcels. In terms of the HGAT components, the original 1st-order parcel neighborhood is extended to high-order to capture the distant dependency, while graph attention is applied to quantify the heterogeneous interaction intensity between parcels. Finally, the conversion probability obtained by HGAT is integrated with VCA to simulate urban land use change. Land use data from the Moreton Bay Region in Queensland, Australia from 2005 to 2009 are selected to verify the proposed HGAT-VCA model. Experimental results illustrate that HGAT-VCA outperforms four classical CA models and achieves the highest simulation accuracy (e.g., the increase of FoM is about 40.7%). In addition, extensive neighborhood configuration experiments show that with HGAT only tuning discrete topological order can generate similar accuracy results compared with the repetitive buffer-based neighborhood configuration, and this can significantly improve the calibration efficiency of VCA models. [Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (auteur) The systematical exploration of how two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) features of urban landscapes influence land surface temperature (LST) is still limited. Therefore, we investigated the influence of three main urban landscapes—urban green space, impervious land, and water bodies on LST, with a particular focus on the 3D vegetation metrics of green volume (GV) and leaf area index (LAI). We used Yinchuan City, China, as a case study. We quantified the impacts of various 2D/3D metrics of the three landscape types on LST using a random forest analysis with multiple sources, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and remote sensing images. We then generated a Bayesian Network (BN) model to identify the optimal configurations for each landscape type. We found that using 11 of the 31 metrics considered, our model could explain 81.8% of the observed variance in LST of Yinchuan City. Among those, water body metrics were the most important, followed by vegetation abundance, impervious land metrics, and landscape pattern of urban green space. The mean classification error of the BN model was only 22.9%. We suggest that this makes the BN model a promising support tool for urban planning with a view to urban heat island mitigation. Our findings also stress the importance of considering both 2D and 3D features when considering urban cooling strategies. Road environment receives its data from mobile laser scanning (MLS) systems in the format of LiDAR point clouds, which are distinguished with their accuracy and high density. In this paper, a mobile LiDAR data classification method based on machine learning (ML) is presented. First, data subsampling and slicing are applied, followed by cylindrical neighbourhood selection method to determine the neighbourhood of each point. Second, a new LiDAR-based point feature namely Zmodis introduced, and used along with existing fifteen geometric features as input for a ML algorithm. Finally, Random Forest classifier is applied to a part of (Paris-Lille-3D) MLS point clouds belonging to NPM3D Benchmark. The dataset is about 1.5 km long road in Lille, France with more than 98 million points. The use of Zmod improved the accuracy from 90.26% to 95.23% and achieved sufficient results for classes with low points' portion in the dataset. In addition, the Zmod is the third important feature in the classification process among the sixteen features with about 14.63%. Moreover, using the first six important features achieved almost the maximum overall accuracy with about 60% reduction in the processing time.
