[Termes IGN] transformation non linéaireRésumé : (Auteur) A new approach to relative orientation based on dual quaternions is proposed. Dual quaternions are used to express a unified description of the relative position and orientation of two images in a stereopair. The coplanarity condition equation and its linearised model based on dual quaternions are established. According to the principle of least squares adjustment with constraints, a dual quaternion can be identified and the relative-orientation parameters can then be obtained by a non-linear transformation of the components of the dual quaternion. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is feasible and more reliable and efficient than the conventional approach based on Euler angles. [Termes IGN] image ERS-SARRésumé : (Auteur) Learning can be of great use when dealing with problems in various fields. Inspired by locally linear embedding from manifold, we propose a novel automatic change-detection method through an offline learning approach. The proposed method comprises three steps. First, two coupled dictionaries of the difference image (DI) patches and change-detection map patches are generated from known image pairs. Second, we approximately represent each patch of the input DI with respect to the DI dictionary by using the matching the pursuit algorithm. Third, the coefficients of this representation are applied with the change-detection map dictionary to generate the output change-detection map. This way, we exploit the relationship between the DI patches and the corresponding change-detection map patches based on two coupled dictionaries. In addition, the relationship guides us to construct the change-detection map for any given input DI. Experimental results on real synthetic aperture radar databases show that the proposed method is superior to its counterparts. Our method can obtain promising results, even though the dictionaries are prepared by simple random sampling from fixed training images. [Termes IGN] résolution multipleRésumé : (Auteur) To take advantage of the wide swath width of Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM)/Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) images and the high spatial resolution of Système Pour l'Observation de la Terre 5 (SPOT5) images, we present a learning-based super-resolution method to fuse these two data types. The fused images are expected to be characterized by the swath width of TM/ETM+ images and the spatial resolution of SPOT5 images. To this end, we first model the imaging process from a SPOT image to a TM/ETM+ image at their corresponding bands, by building an image degradation model via blurring and downsampling operations. With this degradation model, we can generate a simulated Landsat image from each SPOT5 image, thereby avoiding the requirement for geometric coregistration for the two input images. Then, band by band, image fusion can be implemented in two stages: 1) learning a dictionary pair representing the high- and low-resolution details from the given SPOT5 and the simulated TM/ETM+ images; 2) super-resolving the input Landsat images based on the dictionary pair and a sparse coding algorithm. It is noteworthy that the proposed method can also deal with the conventional spatial and spectral fusion of TM/ETM+ and SPOT5 images by using the learned dictionary pairs. To examine the performance of the proposed method of fusing the swath width of TM/ETM+ and the spatial resolution of SPOT5, we illustrate the fusion results on the actual TM images and compare with several classic pansharpening methods by assuming that the corresponding SPOT5 panchromatic image exists. Furthermore, we implement the classification experiments on both actual images and fusion results to demonstrate the benefits of the proposed method for further classification applications. [Termes IGN] TrenteRésumé : (auteur) Today the use of spaceborne Very High Resolution (VHR) optical sensors for automatic 3D information extraction is increasing in the scientific and civil communities. The 3D Optical Metrology (3DOM) unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) in Trento (Italy) has collected VHR satellite imagery, as well as aerial and terrestrial data over Trento for creating a complete testfield for investigations on image radiometry, geometric accuracy, automatic digital surface model (DSM) generation, 2D/3D feature extraction, city modelling and data fusion. This paper addresses the radiometric and the geometric aspects of the VHR spaceborne imagery included in the Trento testfield and their potential for 3D information extraction. The dataset consist of two stereo-pairs acquired by WorldView-2 and by GeoEye-1 in panchromatic and multispectral mode, and a triplet from Pléiades-1A. For reference and validation, a DSM from airborne LiDAR acquisition is used. The paper gives details on the project, dataset characteristics and achieved results.
