[Termes IGN] tripletRésumé : (auteur) When predicting data for which limited supervised information is available, hyperspectral target detection methods based on deep transfer learning expect that the network will not require considerable retraining to generalize to unfamiliar application contexts. Meta-learning is an effective and practical framework for solving this problem in deep learning. This article proposes a new meta-learning based hyperspectral target detection using Siamese network (MLSN). First, a deep residual convolution feature embedding module is designed to embed spectral vectors into the Euclidean feature space. Then, the triplet loss is used to learn the intraclass similarity and interclass dissimilarity between spectra in embedding feature space by using the known labeled source data on the designed three-channel Siamese network for meta-training. The learned meta-knowledge is updated with the prior target spectrum through a designed two-channel Siamese network to quickly adapt to the new detection task. It should be noted that the parameters and structure of the deep residual convolution embedding modules of each channel in the Siamese network are identical. Finally, the spatial information is combined, and the detection map of the two-channel Siamese network is processed by the guiding image filtering and morphological closing operation, and a final detection result is obtained. Based on the experimental analysis of six real hyperspectral image datasets, the proposed MLSN has shown its excellent comprehensive performance. Unlike traditional PolInSAR-based methods, the proposed method reformulates the forest height inversion as a pan-sharpening process between the low-resolution LiDAR height and the high-resolution PolSAR and PolInSAR features. A tailored Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) called PolGAN with one generator and dual (coherence and spatial) discriminators is proposed to this end, where a progressive pan-sharpening strategy underpins the generator to overcome the significant difference between spatial resolutions of LiDAR and SAR-related inputs. Forest height estimates with high spatial resolution and vertical accuracy are generated through a continuous generative and adversarial process. UAVSAR PolInSAR and LVIS LiDAR data collected over tropical and boreal forest sites are used for experiments. Ablation study is conducted over the boreal site evidencing the superiority of the progressive generator with dual discriminators employed in PolGAN (RMSE: 1.21 m) in comparison with the standard generator with dual discriminators (RMSE: 2.43 m) and the progressive generator with a single coherence (RMSE: 2.74 m) or spatial discriminator (RMSE: 5.87 m). Besides that, by reducing the dependency on theoretical models and utilizing the shape, texture, and spatial information embedded in the high-spatial-resolution features, the PolGAN method achieves an RMSE of 2.37 m over the tropical forest site, which is much more accurate than the traditional PolInSAR-based Kapok method (RMSE: 8.02 m). [Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) Larches in the Sudetes are very sensitive to the currently changing climatic factors, and an extreme negative response to drought is observed. In this study, temporal changes in the climate-growth relationship of European larch were analyzed using moving-window correlation. Change-point detection analysis was performed to determine whether there is a temporal connection between tree-ring growth responses and changes in climatic factors trends. The Random Forest predictor importance determination method was used to establish the set of climatic factors that influence larch tree-ring growth the most and to show how this set changes over time. Additionally, cluster analysis was applied to find spatial growth patterns and to generalize the growth response of larch. The results indicate that the main clustering factor is altitude. Nevertheless, an increasing unification of the larch’s response to dominant climatic factors is observable throughout the whole study area. This unification is expressed in the increasingly positive and recently dominant effect of May temperature. A progressively negative influence of the temperature in the summer and late autumn of the year preceding growth was observed, as was an increasing influence of water availability in the summer months. The study indicates that there is a connection between the observed changes and the recent rapid rise in temperature, which has consequently had a negative influence on water availability. The growth of this tree species in the Sudetes is expected to be very limited in the future due to its sensitivity to drought, the predicted increase in temperatures and thermal extremes, and the decrease of the share of summer precipitation in the annual total. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Machine intelligent perception (MIP) provides a novel way for human beings to recognize geographical locations automatically. MIP of geographical locations enables computers to describe locations automatically and quantitatively by extracting Earth's surface features and building relationships. The earth surface fingerprint is established here by mining the relationship between spatial objects with stable characteristics extracted from urban high-resolution remote sensing images, which realizes intelligent perception of geographical location innovatively. Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Network is used to automatically extract the spatial objects such as playgrounds, crossroads, and bridges from the images. Then, the extracted spatial objects are encoded according to the landuse type, distance, and angle of 24 nearest objects to construct urban surface fingerprint database. The urban surface fingerprint database is used to match the geographical location of spatial objects in local images so that the matching algorithm can be used for machine recognition of the geographical location of specific objects in the target image. Taking the main cities in China as the experimental area, the success rate of location perception is 92%. We have made a useful exploration in the field of MIP of geographical location, hoping to promote the development of human cognition of geographical location. [Termes IGN] système à base de connaissancesRésumé : (auteur) Spatial relation extraction (e.g., topological relations, directional relations, and distance relations) from natural language descriptions is a fundamental but challenging task in several practical applications. Current state-of-the-art methods rely on rule-based metrics, either those specifically developed for extracting spatial relations or those integrated in methods that combine multiple metrics. However, these methods all rely on developed rules and do not effectively capture the characteristics of natural language spatial relations because the descriptions may be heterogeneous and vague and may be context sparse. In this article, we present a spatially oriented piecewise convolutional neural network (SP-CNN) that is specifically designed with these linguistic issues in mind. Our method extends a general piecewise convolutional neural network with a set of improvements designed to tackle the task of spatial relation extraction. We also propose an automated workflow for generating training datasets by integrating new sentences with those in a knowledge base, based on string similarity and semantic similarity, and then transforming the sentences into training data. We exploit a spatially oriented channel that uses prior human knowledge to automatically match words and understand the linguistic clues to spatial relations, finally leading to an extraction decision. We present both the qualitative and quantitative performance of the proposed methodology using a large dataset collected from Wikipedia. The experimental results demonstrate that the SP-CNN, with its supervised machine learning, can significantly outperform current state-of-the-art methods on constructed datasets.
