[Termes IGN] théorie des graphesIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) Graphs are powerful mathematical structures representing a set of objects and the underlying links between pairs of objects somehow related. They are becoming increasingly popular in data science in general and in particular in image or 3D point cloud analysis. Among the wide spectra of applications, they are involved in most of the hierarchical approaches.Hierarchies are particularly important because they allow us to efficiently organize the information required and to analyze the problems at different levels of detail. In this thesis, we address the following topics. Many morphological hierarchical approaches rely on the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST). We propose an algorithm for MST computation in streaming based on a graph decomposition strategy. Thanks to this decomposition, larger images can be processed or can benefit from partial reliable information while the whole image is not completely available.Recent LiDAR developments are able to acquire large-scale and precise 3D point clouds. Many applications, such as infrastructure monitoring, urban planning, autonomous driving, precision forestry, environmental assessment, archaeological discoveries, to cite a few, are under development nowadays. We introduce a ground detection algorithm and compare it with the state of the art. The impact of reducing the point cloud density with low-cost scanners is studied, in the context of an autonomous driving application. Finally, in many hierarchical methods similarities between points are given as input. However, the metric used to compute similarities influences the quality of the final results. We exploit metric learning as a complementary tool that helps to improve the quality of hierarchies. We demonstrate the capabilities of these methods in two contexts. The first one,a texture classification of 3D surfaces. Our approach ranked second in a task organized by SHREC’20 international challenge. The second one learning the similarity function together with the optimal hierarchical clustering, in a continuous feature-based hierarchical clustering formulation. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] science des donnéesRésumé : (éditeur) With the increase in data processing and storage capacity, a large amount of data is available. Data without analysis does not have much value. Thus, the demand for data analysis is increasing daily, and the consequence is the appearance of a large number of jobs and published articles. Data science has emerged as a multidisciplinary field to support data-driven activities, integrating and developing ideas, methods, and processes to extract information from data. This includes methods built from different knowledge areas: Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Information Science, and Engineering. This mixture of areas has given rise to what we call Data Science. New solutions to the new problems are reproducing rapidly to generate large volumes of data. Current and future challenges require greater care in creating new solutions that satisfy the rationality for each type of problem. Labels such as Big Data, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistical Learning, and Artificial Intelligence are demanding more sophistication in the foundations and how they are being applied. This point highlights the importance of building the foundations of Data Science. This book is dedicated to solutions and discussions of measuring uncertainties in data analysis problems. [Termes IGN] schisteRésumé : (auteur) The total organic carbon (TOC) content is of great significance to reflect the hydrocarbon-generation potential in shale reservoirs. The well logs were always used to predict the TOC content, but some linear regression methods do not match well with complex data. The neural network method can improve prediction accuracy, but it always generates unstable prediction models. A static committee machine can reduce errors and uncertainties by combining multiple learners, but the weight of integrating learners is difficult to determine. Therefore, a dynamic committee machine with fuzzy-c-means clustering (DCMF) was proposed to predict the TOC content. Experts in the DCMF include Elman neural network, extreme learning machine, and generalized regression neural network. The fuzzy-c-means clustering algorithm was used as the gate network to perform subtasks decomposition and weights calculation based on input data. The subtasks were used to train more adaptive TOC content prediction models, and the weights were transferred to the combiner to integrate all experts’ outputs into final results. The DCMF was applied in two wells located in the Jiumenchong formation in the Qiannan depression, China. The TOC prediction results using the DCMF method are more accurate than the linear regression method, three individual intelligent algorithms, and the static committee machine. The DCMF also provides a new method for weight calculation by mining potential information of input data. User-generated content (UGC) shared on such platforms provides insights into how users want to represent their everyday lives, which augments and reinforces our understanding of local communities through time and layers dynamic information across and over the geographic space. Inspired by the development of the newly arisen scientific disciplines within geography: geographical artificial intelligence (GeoAI), this thesis adopts deep learning approaches on graph representations of human dynamics illustrated through geotagged UGC to explore how place representations are augmented and reinforced through users’ spatial experiences by classifying their multimedia activities and identifying the spatial clusters of UGC at the urban scale. Having the place representations described through UGC, this thesis explores how these representations can be used in conjunction with various official spatial statistics to understand and predict the dynamic changes of the socio-economic characteristics of places. The principal contributions of this thesis are: (1) to provide frameworks with higher classification and prediction accuracy but requiring fewer sample data; thus, contributing to an advanced framework to summarise spatial characteristics of places; (2) to show that multimedia content provides rich information regarding places, the use of space, and people’s experience of the landscape; thus, benefiting a better understanding of place representations; (3) to illustrate that the spatial patterns of UGC can be adopted as a valuable proxy to understand urban development and neighbourhood change; (4) to reinforce the concept that Spatial is Special. Spatial processes are commonly spatially autocorrelated. The mainstream of machine learning methods do not explicitly incorporate the spatial or spatio-temporal component to address such a speciality of spatial data. This thesis highlights the importance of explicitly incorporating spatial or spatio-temporal components in geographical analysis models. Note de contenu : 1- Introduction
