[Termes IGN] modèle stochastiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The best unbiased estimates of unknown parameters in linear models have the smallest expected mean-squared errors as long as the residuals are weighted with their true variance–covariance matrix. As this condition is rarely met in real applications, the least-squares (LS) estimator is less trustworthy and the parameter precision is often overoptimistic, particularly when correlations are neglected. A careful description of the physical and mathematical relationships between the observations is, thus, necessary to reach a realistic solution and unbiased test statistics. Global Navigation Satellite Systems and terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) measurements show similarities and can be both processed in LS adjustments, either for positioning or deformation analysis. Thus, a parallel between stochastic models for Global Navigation Satellite Systems observations proposed previously in the case of correlations and functions for TLS range measurements based on intensity values can be drawn. This comparison paves the way for a simplified way to account for correlations for a use in LS adjustment. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, the quality control of tide gauge observations is investigated by two methods of least square (LS-HE) and total least square harmonic estimation (TLS-HE). Particularly, it is shown how to deal with unexpected anomalies, including outliers, offset and gap in the time series of sea level height. To do so, at first the time series is constructed and then a method based on variance threshold is used to eliminate the possible outliers in the observations. Subsequently, a noise assessment algorithm is implemented and the signal is processed to find the possible times of offsets and to eliminate their corresponding observations from the time series. Finally, the signal is checked to find the periods of gap within the time series and then the gap area is predicted with correct observations. Gap filling analysis is performed in two contexts. In the first, only the significant frequencies of tide are considered in the modelling procedure, while in the second, all possible frequencies according to the period of observations are included. Our results show that for modelling and gap filling, the TLS-HE method has a better performance in a comparison with LS-HE method. Although, for offset and outlier detections, the LS-HE is recommended. It also indicates that the TLS-HE method provides a regular solution for gap filling analysis while LS-HE method needs a regularization scheme for which LSQR regularization is used. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (auteur) Urban environments are restricted by various physical, regulatory and customary barriers such as buildings, one-way systems and pedestrian crossings. These features create challenges for predictive modelling in urban space, as most proximity-based models rely on Euclidean (straight line) distance metrics which, given restrictions within the urban landscape, do not fully capture spatial urban processes. Here, we argue that road distance and travel time provide effective alternatives, and we develop a new low-dimensional Euclidean distance metric based on these distances using an isomap approach. The purpose of this is to produce a valid covariance matrix for Kriging. Our primary methodological contribution is the derivation of two symmetric dissimilarity matrices (B+ and B2+), with which it is possible to compute low-dimensional Euclidean metrics for the production of a positive definite covariance matrix with commonly utilised kernels. This new method is implemented into a Kriging predictor to estimate house prices on 3,669 properties in Coventry, UK. We find that a metric estimating a combination of road distance and travel time, in both R2 and R3, produces a superior house price predictor compared with alternative state-of-the-art methods, that is, a standard Euclidean metric in RN and a non-restricted road distance metric in R2 and R3. In the last decade, numerous satellite remote sensing missions have been launched (Sentinel-1, UAVSAR, TerraSAR X, etc.). This resulted in a dramatic improvement in the Earth image acquisition capability and accessibility. The growing number of observation systems allows now to build high temporal/spatial-resolution Earth surface images data-sets. This new scenario significantly raises the interest in time-series processing to monitor changes occurring over large areas. However, developing new algorithms to process such a huge volume of data represents a current challenge. In this context, the present thesis aims at developing methodologies for change detection in high-resolution SAR image time series.These series raise two notable challenges that have to be overcome:On the one hand, standard statistical methods rely on multivariate data to infer a result which is often superior to a monovariate approach. Such multivariate data is however not always available when it concerns SAR images. To tackle this issue, new methodologies based on wavelet decomposition theory have been developed to fetch information based on the physical behavior of the scatterers present in the scene.On the other hand, the improvement in resolution obtained from the latest generation of sensors comes with an increased heterogeneity of the data obtained. For this setup, the standard Gaussian assumption used to develop classic change detection methodologies is no longer valid. As a consequence, new robust methodologies have been developed considering the family of elliptical distributions which have been shown to better fit the observed data.The association of both aspects has shown promising results in change detection applications. [Termes IGN] géoïde localRésumé : (Auteur) Least-squares collocation (LSC) is a crucial mathematical tool for solving many geodetic problems. It has the capability to adjust, filter, and predict unknown quantities that affect many geodetic applications. Hence, this study aims to enhance the predictability property of LSC through applying soft computing techniques in the stage of describing the covariance function. Soft computing techniques include the support vector machine (SVM), least-squares-support vector machine (LS-SVM), and artificial neural network (ANN). A real geodetic case study is used to predict a national geoid from the EGM2008 global geoid model in Egypt. A comparison study between parametric and soft computing techniques was performed to assess the LSC predictability accuracy. We found that the predictability accuracy increased when using soft computing techniques in the range of 10.2 %–27.7 % and 8.2 %–29.8 % based on the mean square error and the mean error terms, respectively, compared with the parametric models. The LS-SVM achieved the highest accuracy among the soft computing techniques. In addition, we found that the integration between the LS-SVM with LSC exhibits an accuracy of 20 % and 25 % higher than using LS-SVM independently as a predicting tool, based on the mean square error and mean error terms, respectively. Consequently, the LS-SVM integrated with LSC is recommended for enhanced predictability in geodetic applications.
