[Termes IGN] zone sinistréeRésumé : (auteur) In this study, we compared the performance of tree-based classification algorithms – Random Forest (RF), Rotation Forest (RotF), J48, The Alternating Decision Tree (ADTree), Forest by Penalising Attributes (Forest PA), Logical Analysis of Data Algorithm (LADTree) and Functional Trees (FT) – for mapping burned forest areas within the Mediterranean region in Turkey. Object-based image analysis (OBIA) was performed to pan-sharpened the Landsat 8 images. Four different burned areas, namely Kumluca, Adrasan, Anamur, and Alanya, were used as study areas. Kumluca, Anamur, and Alanya regions were used as training areas, and Adrasan region was used as the test area. Obtained results were evaluated with confusion matrix and statistically significant analysis. According to the results, FT and RotF produced more accurate results than other algorithms. Also, the results obtained with these algorithms are statistically significant. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (auteur) Very important points (VIPs) and important points and edges (IPEs) methods have been compared in accordance with the TINs obtained by: (1) Delaunay triangulation using DEM points determined by VIP and (2) constrained Delaunay triangulation using DEM points and triangle edges determined by IPE. It was ensured that the number of points in each TIN was approximately equal to the number calculated by Töpfer’s formula, and that the vertical error of each TIN was less than the error calculated by Koppe’s formula. According to the results, (1) both methods are quality prioritized, (2) IPE is more sensitive to local surface changes, (3) important triangle edges determined by IPE make a significant contribution to the TIN, (4) some of the points selected by IPE are more important points than that of VIP, and (5) IPE-based TINs are more structural fidelity than VIP-based TINs. [Termes IGN] zone militaireRésumé : (Auteur) Automatic image exploitation is a critical technology for quick content analysis of high-resolution remote sensing images. The presence of a heliport on an image usually implies an important facility, such as military facilities. Therefore, detection of heliports can reveal critical information about the content of an image. In this article, two learning-based algorithms are presented that make use of artificial neural networks to detect H-shaped, light-colored heliports. The first algorithm is based on shape analysis of the heliport candidate segments using classical artificial neural networks. The second algorithm uses deep-learning techniques. While deep learning can solve difficult problems successfully, classical-learning approaches can be tuned easily to obtain fast and reasonable results. Therefore, although the main objective of this article is heliport detection, it also compares a deep-learning based approach with a classical learning-based approach and discusses advantages and disadvantages of both techniques. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, we present an original unified strategy for the precise extraction of individual citrus fruit trees from single digital surface model (DSM) input data. A probabilistic method combining the circular shape information with the knowledge of the local maxima in the DSM has been used for the detection of the candidate trees. An active contour is applied within each detected region to extract the borders of the objects. Thereafter, all extracted objects are seamlessly divided into clusters considering a new feature data set formed by (1) the properties of trees, (2) planting parameters, and (3) neighborhood relations. This original clustering stage has led to two new contributions: (1) particular objects or clustered structures having distinctive characters and relationships other than the citrus objects can be identified and eliminated, and (2) the information revealed by clustering can be used to recover missing citrus objects within and/or nearby each cluster. The main finding of this research is that a successful clustering can provide valuable input for identifying incorrect and missing information in terms of citrus tree extraction. The proposed strategy is validated in eight test sites selected from the northern part of Mersin province of Turkey. The results achieved are also compared with the state-of-the-art methods developed for tree extraction, and the success of the proposed unified strategy is clearly highlighted. The main objective is to estimate the spatial pattern of annual soil erosion rate and sediment yield using Remote Sensing and GIS technique which are promising and cost-effective tools for mapping critical areas. To calculate the soil erosion and sediment yield different spatial data sets were utilized such as rainfall, soil texture, topography, land use land cover etc. Obtained result of soil erosion and sediment yield was validated using field check using Baronda CWC Observatory data. It is found that, RUSLE model for soil erosion and MUSLE model for sediment yield has been found to be most reliable for the study area.
