[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (auteur) This paper deals with the problem of comparison of image segmentations. It proposes a graph-based modelling of the relations between the regions of two segmentations, which allows to handle arbitrarily complex matchings between groups of regions. This approach is motivated by the need of accurate models to describe the differences between segmentations of multi-temporal aerial image of a same scene. We introduce the family of Nesting Relations between two partitions of a same set and show that it gives a hierarchical notion of complexity for the rearrangements of groups of regions. The computation of matchings according to our definition requires to find an optimal partitioning of a graph into diametrally bounded connected components. We provide a fast algorithm for the particular case of a tree and show how it can be used in the general case. Finally, an example of application to the fusion of multi-date image segmentations is presented. The International GPS Service (IGS), a federation of government agencies and universities, plays an increasingly critical role in support of GPS-related research activities. Contributions from the IGS Governing Board and Central Bureau, analysis and data centers, station operators, and others constitute the 1998 Technical Reports. This report has a companion publication, the 1998 Annual Report. Hard copies of each volume can be obtained by contacting the IGS Central Bureau at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
