[Termes IGN] surveillance d'ouvrageRésumé : (auteur) This study investigates the accuracy of vertical displacements monitored by Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) precise point positioning (PPP) with float-ambiguity solution and with ambiguity resolution (PPP-AR). For this purpose, a simulation was designed. The static GNSS observations were collected at a test point during different observation times over seven periods involving vertical displacements produced with a precision of less than one mm. Each set of GNSS observations was processed with both GNSS-PPP and PPP-AR methods. The results revealed that RMS values of PPP-AR solutions are about twice better than RMS values of PPP solution for all observation times and all vertical displacement values. [Termes IGN] tectonique des plaquesRésumé : (auteur) The NUVEL1-A is one of the old and popular plate tectonic models. While the NUVEL1-A is a geological-based model, recently a model has been proposed (GSRM2.1 model) which is based on the results of space geodetic techniques. In this work, we investigate the consistency of these models with the VLBI and SLR results in Europe. Direction and magnitude of the horizontal motion from NUVEL-1A and GSRM2.1 models are compared with corresponding values from both geodetic techniques. This comparison provides valuable deductions such as: (1) The values of geodetic-based model (GSRM2.1) show better agreement with SLR and VLBI results (2) In each comparison between geodetic results and modelled values, direction divergence is larger than magnitude difference. [Termes IGN] réserve forestièreRésumé : (auteur) Microwave and optical imaging methods react differently to different land surface parameters and, thus, provide highly complementary information. However, the contribution of individual features from these two domains of the electromagnetic spectrum for tree species classification is still unclear. For large-scale forest assessments, it is moreover important to better understand the domain-specific limitations of the two sensor families, such as the impact of cloudiness and low signal-to-noise-ratio, respectively. In this study, seven deciduous and five coniferous tree species of the Austrian Biosphere Reserve Wienerwald (105,000 ha) were classified using Breiman’s random forest classifier, labeled with help of forest enterprise data. In nine test cases, variations of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 imagery were passed to the classifier to evaluate their respective contributions. By solely using a high number of Sentinel-2 scenes well spread over the growing season, an overall accuracy of 83.2% was achieved. With ample Sentinel-2 scenes available, the additional use of Sentinel-1 data improved the results by 0.5 percentage points. This changed when only a single Sentinel-2 scene was supposedly available. In this case, the full set of Sentinel-1-derived features increased the overall accuracy on average by 4.7 percentage points. The same level of accuracy could be obtained using three Sentinel-2 scenes spread over the vegetation period. On the other hand, the sole use of Sentinel-1 including phenological indicators and additional features derived from the time series did not yield satisfactory overall classification accuracies (55.7%), as only coniferous species were well separated. [Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) The protective value of forests is expected to be affected by climate change. Applied forest management could absorb or enhance such an impact. In this context, we developed a new protective value index (PVI) that includes biometric and topographical indicators of forest stands. Using PVI and the LandClim model, we simulated 100 years with low- and high-intensity cuttings within three climate scenarios to analyze their influence on the protective value of forests included in the soil protection category. The management types had a low impact on PVI during the simulation period. However, the effects of moderate climate intensified in the second half of the simulation period. In contrast, the extreme climate had the highest impact on PVI and its variables throughout the whole period. The forest stands from lower elevation reached a higher protective value than intermediate and high elevation. Although the low-elevation forest stands are the most vulnerable to climate changes, the ongoing adaptation conducts to stands with higher protective value than stable forests from the higher elevation. The PVI is easily adaptable for different forest landscape models and can be widely applied to provide an integrated assessment of the forest protective value and the management measures to maintain or enhance it Numéro de notice : A2022-489 Affiliation des auteurs : LIF+Ext (2020- ) Thématique : FORET Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.3390/f13060916 Date de publication en ligne : 12/06/2022 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.3390/f13060916 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=100964

[Termes IGN] niveau de la merRésumé : (auteur) We assess the consistency of sea-level variability derived from tide-gauge (TG) and satellite radar altimeter (ALT) data acquired along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. For a coherent comparison between these techniques, we use GNSS observations to characterize the local vertical land movement embedded in TG records, but not affecting ALT data. We first investigate the performance of CMEMS, a gridded altimeter product covering the period 1993–2019. TG and GNSS series are not required to cover the whole altimeter period. The inter-technique comparison reveals good agreement at annual and semi-annual scales, but also the occasional occurrence of nonlinear discrepancies impacting trend estimation. Large-scale patterns of variability are observed in the Ionian region and along the continental shores from the Alboran to the Adriatic Sea. The estimates of linear trends based on TG + GNSS or CMEMS observations are found consistent within 1σ at 27/45 sites, with the best agreement in the Western Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas. We also consider the X-TRACK/ALES altimeter dataset, provided along the tracks of the Jason missions (2002–2018) and optimized for coastal applications. In this case, we identify only 12 sites suitable for the comparison. The results show that inter-technique consistency is impacted by the length of the series used in the comparison. Optimum agreement between X-TRACK/ALES and TG + GNSS trends is reached at the two sites closer to a satellite track. However, we find sites where X-TRACK/ALES-derived sea-level trends present suspicious along-track variations at Numéro de notice : A2022-452 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Article DOI : 10.1007/s00190-022-01626-9 En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00190-022-01626-9 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=100976
