This article provides an overview on the vulnerability of GPS and Galileo receivers to continuous wave and chirp interference signals and compares the performance of interference-detection methods in terms of detection capability, detection latency, sensitivity to interference power, and computational and hardware complexity. [Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (auteur) A reduced complexity model, which simulates the process of fluvial inland-delta formation, has been developed in a previous study. The results have been compared and validated with a laboratory experiment. This work elaborates the laboratory investigation in which an experimental inland delta is generated and its eroding topography is measured using a structured-light 3D scanner. The least squares 3D (LS3D) co-registration and comparison method is used for alignment as well as for comparing data epochs both spatially and temporally. A spatial precision value of around ±50 μm (1/20 000) is achieved. A series of high-quality digital elevation models (DEMs) are generated and the space-time evolution of the inland delta is monitored and analysed, in terms of slope and topography dynamics, in the consecutive DEM layers. The combination of high-resolution scanning together with high-precision co-registration techniques allows investigation of the details of the space-time variability of the sedimentation-deposition patterns to be used for geomorphological analysis. [Termes IGN] télédétectionRésumé : (Auteur) Most previous haze/cloud detection methods for Landsat imagery, e.g., haze optimized transformation (HOT), cannot adequately suppress land surface information and, in particular, often overestimate haze thickness over bright surfaces. This paper proposes an iterative HOT (IHOT) for improving haze detection with the help of a corresponding clear image. With an iterative procedure of regressions among HOT, the reflectance difference at the top of atmosphere (TOA) between hazy and clear images, and TOA reflectances of hazy and clear images, the land surface information can be removed, and the iterative HOT (IHOT) result is derived to spatially characterize the haze contamination in the Landsat images. A group of Landsat images that were acquired in different landscapes and seasons were used to test IHOT. Visual comparisons indicate that IHOT performed better than previous haze detection methods for images that were acquired in diverse landscapes and also performed robustly for hazy images that were acquired at different seasons when using the same reference clear image. Additionally, two indirect quantitative validations were used to illustrate that IHOT can provide the best transformation for accurately determining haze information. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed IHOT method will be used for automatic cloud/haze detection for large numbers of Landsat images if data sets of clear Landsat imagery are available. [Termes IGN] station de référenceRésumé : (auteur) Accurate water level elevations are imperative for water resource management. This paper presents the outcomes of a research study using GPS in measuring water level heights. The authors observed the water elevations of several wells, United States Geological Survey (USGS) gauges and acequia points at three different locations in North–Central New Mexico, USA. Different rapid static and static observation sessions were collected independently and adjusted using the nearby reference control stations. The authors used two different sets of receivers: four Topcon Hiper Lite+ and two Leica GPS1200 The authors were able to examine several network configurations with different continuously operating reference station (CORS) stations. Our findings were analogous to empirically expected errors and showed insignificant differences among the heights obtained from rapid static and static sessions at a 95% confidence level. The authors also compared the results with National Geodetic Survey online positioning users service (NGS OPUS) solutions and confirmed the accuracy of our measurements. As independent measurement technique, we measured the height differences among several of these points with conventional levelling surveys. Our GPS measurements provided small disagreements with height differences obtained with the terrestrial surveys, after the GPS heights were reduced to their orthometric correspondences. Based on these findings, current rapid static GPS positioning methodologies are capable of providing equivalent accuracies as those obtained by static GPS and ground surveying techniques.
