[Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (auteur) Given the initial calibration of multiple sensors, the fine registration between Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) point clouds and panoramic images is still challenging due to the unforeseen movement and temporal misalignment while collecting. To tackle this issue, we proposed a novel automatic method to register the panoramic images and MLS point clouds based on the matching of pole objects. Firstly, 2D pole instances in the panoramic images are extracted by a semantic segmentation network and then optimized. Secondly, every corresponding frustum point cloud of each pole instance is obtained by a shape-adaptive buffer region in the panoramic image, and the 3D pole object is extracted via a combination of slicing, clustering, and connected domain analysis, then all 3D pole objects are fused. Finally, 2D and 3D pole objects are re-projected onto virtual images respectively, and then fine 2D-3D correspondences are collected through maximizing pole overlapping area by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The accurate extrinsic orientation parameters are acquired by the Efficient Perspective-N-Point (EPnP). The experiments indicate that the proposed method performs effectively on two challenging urban scenes with an average registration error of 2.01 pixels (with RMSE 0.88) and 2.35 pixels (with RMSE 1.03), respectively. [Termes IGN] SuisseRésumé : (auteur) Multi-temporal, high-resolution, and homogeneous geospatial datasets acquired by space- and/or airborne sensors provide unprecedented opportunities for the characterization and monitoring of surface changes on very large spatial scales. Here, we demonstrate how an off-the-shelf, open-source image correlation algorithm can be combined with SwissALTI3D LiDAR-derived elevation data from different tracking periods to create country-scale surface displacement and vertical change maps of Switzerland, including Liechtenstein, with minimal computational effort. The results show that glacier displacement and ablation make up the most significant fraction of the detected surface changes in the last two decades. In addition, we identify numerous landslides and other geomorphic features, as well as manmade changes such as construction sites and landfills. All produced maps and data products are available online, free of charge. [Termes IGN] image Sentinel-MSIRésumé : (auteur) In China, airports have a profound impact on people’s lives, and understanding their dimensions has great significance for research and development. However, few existing airport databases contain such details, which can be reflected indirectly by the built-up land in the airport. In this study, a deep learning-based method was used for extraction of built-up land of airports in China using Sentinel-2 imagery and for further estimating their area. Here, a benchmark generation method is introduced by fusing two reference maps and cropping images into patches. Following this, a series of experiments were conducted to evaluate the network architectures and select the positive impact bands in Sentinel-2 imagery. A well-trained model was used to extract the built-up land for China airports, and the relationship between China airports’ built-up land and the carrying capacity of air transportation was further analysed. Results show that ResUNet-a outperformed U-Net, ResUNet, and SegNet, and the B2, B4, B6, B11, and B12 bands of Sentinel-2 had a positive impact on built-up land extraction. A well-trained model with an overall accuracy of 0.9423 and an F1 score of 0.9041 and 434 China airports’ built-up land was extracted. The four most developed airports are located in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, which matches China’s political and economic development. The area of built-up land influenced the passenger throughput and aircraft movements. The total area influenced the cargo throughput, and we found a certain correlation among the built-up land, carrying capacity, and nighttime light. [Termes IGN] tourbièreRésumé : (auteur) Peatlands as natural carbon sinks have a major impact on the climate balance and should therefore be monitored and protected. The hydrology of the peatland serves as an indicator of the carbon storage capacity. Hence, we investigate the question how suitable different remote sensing data are for monitoring the size of open water surface and the water table depth (WTD) of a peatland ecosystem. Furthermore, we examine the potential of combining remote sensing data for this purpose. We use C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data from Sentinel-1 and multi-spectral data from Sentinel-2. The radar backscatter σ0, the normalized difference water index (NDWI) and the modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) are calculated and used for consideration of the WTD and the lake size. For the measurement of the lake size, we implement and investigate the methods: random forest, adaptive thresholding and an analysis according to the Dempster–Shafer theory. Correlations between WTD and the remote sensing data σ0 as well as NDWI are investigated. When looking at the individual data sets the results of our case study show that the VH polarized σ0 data produces the clearest delineation of the peatland lake. However the adaptive thresholding of the weighted fusion image of σ0-VH, σ0-VV and MNDWI, and the random forest algorithm with all three data sets as input proves to be the most suitable for determining the lake area. The correlation coefficients between σ0/NDWI and WTD vary greatly and lie in ranges of low to moderate correlation. [Termes IGN] ToulouseRésumé : (Auteur) The HYEP project (ANR HYEP 14-CE22-0016-01 Hyperspectral imagery for Environmental urban Planning - Mobility and Urban Systems Programme - 2014) confirmed the interest of a global approach to the urban environment by remote sensing and in particular by using hyperspectral imaging (HI). The interest of hyperspectral images lies in the range of information provided over wavelengths from 0.4 to 4 μm; they thus provide access to spectral quantities of interest and to chemical or biophysical parameters of the surface. HYEP's objective was to specify this and to propose a panel of methods and treatments taking into account the characteristics of other existing sensors in order to compare their performance. The developments carried out were applied and evaluated on hyperspectral airborne images acquired in Toulouse and Kaunas (Lithuania), also used to synthesize space systems: Sentinel-2, Hypxim/Biodiversity and Pleiades. Among the locks identified were those related to improving the spatial capabilities of the sensors and spatial scale changes, which were partially overcome by fusion and sharpening approaches, which proved to be successful. After a description of our hyperspectral data set acquired over Toulouse, an analysis is conducted on several existing and accessible spectral databases. Then, the chosen methods are presented. They include extraction, fusion and classification methods, which are then applied on our dataset synthetized at different spatial resolution to evaluate the benefits and the complementarity of hyperspectral imagery in comparison with other traditional sensors. Some specific applications are investigated of interest for urban planners: impervious soil map, vegetation species cartography and detection of solar panels. Finally, discussion and perspectives are presented.
