[Termes IGN] risque naturelRésumé : (auteur) Effective large-scale landslide mapping is becoming significantly important for analyzing natural hazards and providing landslide locations rapidly for emergency response. Change detection and machine learning methods are commonly used for landslide detection. Change detection mostly relies on several experienced parameters that users have to tune for different images, which limits the practical application. The training machine learning model consumes much time, and it is limited to specific imaging conditions. In this paper, a simple method for landslide detection using a fixed parameter by calculating image saliency is proposed. Landslide is detected as a saliency object within the background of vegetation and bare rocks. It is fast and robust for the experimental images, and outperforms the state-of-the-art, semi-automatic method in terms of accuracy and computing time. Given the high efficiency and robustness of the proposed method, it is applicable to practical cases for hazard estimation. [Termes IGN] polarimétrie radarRésumé : (Auteur) Quadratic forms play an important role in the development of several polarimetric and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (Pol-InSAR) methodologies, which are very powerful tools for earth observation. This paper investigates integrals of Pol-InSAR operators based on quadratic forms, with special interest on the Pol-InSAR coherence. A new operator, namely Trace Coherence, is introduced, which provides an approximation for the center of mass of the coherence region (CoRe). The latter is the locus of points on the polar plot containing all the possible coherence values. Such center of mass can be calculated as the integral of Pol-InSAR coherences over the scattering mechanisms (SMs). The trace coherence provides synthetic information regarding the partial target as one single entity. Therefore, it provides a representation, which is not dependent on the selection of one specific polarization channel. It may find application in change detection (e.g., coherent change detection and differential DEM), classification (e.g., building structure parameters), and modeling (e.g., for the retrieval of forest height). In calculating the integral of the Pol-InSAR coherences, an approximate trace coherence expression is derived and shown to improve the calculation speed by several orders of magnitude. The trace coherence approximation is investigated using Monte Carlo simulations and validated ESA (DLR) L-band quad-polarimetric data acquired during the AGRISAR 2006 campaign. The result of the analysis using simulated and real data is that the average error in approximating the integral of the coherence region is 0.025 in magnitude and 3° in phase (in scenarios with sufficiently high coherence). [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) One main problem of the spectral decomposition-based change detection method is the lack of efficient automatic techniques for developing the difference image. Traditional techniques generally assume that gray-level values in a difference image are independent and multitemporal images are co-registered/rectified perfectly without error. However, such assumptions are often violated because of the inevitable image misregistration and the interference of correlations between spectral bands. This study proposes an automated method based on the object-based multivariate alteration detection/maximum autocorrelation factor approach and the Gaussian mixture model-expectation maximization algorithm to obtain unsupervised difference images. This procedure is applied to bi-temporal (2005 and 2006) SPOT-HRV images at Panyu District Ponds, China. Results show that the proposed method successfully excludes the correlations of spectral bands and the influence of misregistration, as evidenced by a higher accuracy (up to 93.6 percent). These unique technical characteristics make this analytical framework suitable for detecting changes. [Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (Auteur) Due to the unprecedented technology development of sensors, platforms and algorithms for 3D data acquisition and generation, 3D spaceborne, airborne and close-range data, in the form of image based, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) based point clouds, Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and 3D city models, become more accessible than ever before. Change detection (CD) or time-series data analysis in 3D has gained great attention due to its capability of providing volumetric dynamics to facilitate more applications and provide more accurate results. The state-of-the-art CD reviews aim to provide a comprehensive synthesis and to simplify the taxonomy of the traditional remote sensing CD techniques, which mainly sit within the boundary of 2D image/spectrum analysis, largely ignoring the particularities of 3D aspects of the data. The inclusion of 3D data for change detection (termed 3D CD), not only provides a source with different modality for analysis, but also transcends the border of traditional top-view 2D pixel/object-based analysis to highly detailed, oblique view or voxel-based geometric analysis. This paper reviews the recent developments and applications of 3D CD using remote sensing and close-range data, in support of both academia and industry researchers who seek for solutions in detecting and analyzing 3D dynamics of various objects of interest. We first describe the general considerations of 3D CD problems in different processing stages and identify CD types based on the information used, being the geometric comparison and geometric-spectral analysis. We then summarize relevant works and practices in urban, environment, ecology and civil applications, etc. Given the broad spectrum of applications and different types of 3D data, we discuss important issues in 3D CD methods. Finally, we present concluding remarks in algorithmic aspects of 3D CD.
