[Termes IGN] mise à jour de base de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) Image change detection has been extensively tackled in the literature in various domains, and in particular for remote sensing purposes. Indeed, very high resolution geospatial images are nowadays ubiquitous and can be used to update existing 2D and 3D geographical databases. Such databases can be projected into the image space, by a rasterization step. Therefore, they provide 2D label maps that can be subsequently compared with classifications resulting for geospatial image processing. In this paper, we propose a classification-based method to detect changes between label maps created from 2D land-cover databases and an more recent orthoimage, without any prior assumptions about the databases composition. Our supervised method is based both on an efficient training set selection and a hierarchical decision process, that follows the structure of topographical databases. This allows to take into account the intrinsic heterogeneity of the objects and themes composing a database while limiting false detection rates, a standard limitation of existing approaches. The designed framework is successfully applied on very high resolution images of Pleiades sensor and two distinct national land-cover databases. [Termes IGN] zone urbaine denseRésumé : (auteur) Thanks to the development of Mobile mapping systems (MMS), street object recognition, classification, modelling and related studies have become hot topics recently. There has been increasing interest in detecting changes between mobile laser scanning (MLS) point clouds in complex urban areas. A method based on the consistency between the occupancies of space computed from different datasets is proposed. First occupancy of scan rays (empty, occupied, unknown) are defined while considering the accuracy of measurement and registration. Then the occupancy of scan rays are fused using the Weighted Dempster–Shafer theory (WDST). Finally, the consistency between different datasets is obtained by comparing the occupancy at points from one dataset with the fused occupancy of neighbouring rays from the other dataset. Change detection results are compared with a conventional point to triangle (PTT) distance method. Changes at point level are detected fully automatically. The proposed approach allows to detect changes at large scales in urban scenes with fine detail and more importantly, distinguish real changes from occlusions. One of the critical problems after an earthquake is building damage assessment. The area, amount, rate, and type of the damage are essential information for rescue, humanitarian and reconstruction operations in the disaster area. Remote sensing techniques play an important role in obtaining building damage information because of their non-contact, low cost, wide field of view, and fast response capacities. Now that more and diverse types of remote sensing data become available, various methods are designed and reported for building damage assessment. This paper provides a comprehensive review of these methods in two categories: multi-temporal techniques that evaluate the changes between the pre- and post-event data and mono-temporal techniques that interpret only the post-event data. Both categories of methods are discussed and evaluated in detail in terms of the type of remote sensing data utilized, including optical, LiDAR and SAR data. Performances of the methods and future efforts are drawn from this extensive evaluation. [Termes IGN] visualisation simultanéeRésumé : (Auteur) If sites, cities, and landscapes are captured at different points in time using technology such as LiDAR, large collections of 3D point clouds result. Their efficient storage, processing, analysis, and presentation constitute a challenging task because of limited computation, memory, and time resources. In this work, we present an approach to detect changes in massive 3D point clouds based on an out-of-core spatial data structure that is designed to store data acquired at different points in time and to efficiently attribute 3D points with distance information. Based on this data structure, we present and evaluate different processing schemes optimized for performing the calculation on the CPU and GPU. In addition, we present a point-based rendering technique adapted for attributed 3D point clouds, to enable effective out-of-core real-time visualization of the computation results. Our approach enables conclusions to be drawn about temporal changes in large highly accurate 3D geodata sets of a captured area at reasonable preprocessing and rendering times. We evaluate our approach with two data sets from different points in time for the urban area of a city, describe its characteristics, and report on applications. [Termes IGN] méthode des moindres carrésRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents an approach to automated identification of slum area change patterns in Hyderabad, India, using multi-year and multi-sensor very high resolution satellite imagery. It relies upon a lacunarity-based slum detection algorithm, combined with Canny- and LSD-based imagery pre-processing routines. This method outputs plausible and spatially explicit slum locations for the whole urban agglomeration of Hyderabad in years 2003 and 2010. The results indicate a considerable growth of area occupied by slums between these years and allow identification of trends in slum development in this urban agglomeration.
