[Termes IGN] théorie des graphesRésumé : (auteur) In this work, we present an approach that is able to deal with large-scale road network mapping. While former methods focus on delineating patches of roads without computing a coherent road network, we formulate a very large number of road hypothesis that are pruned using a graph reasoning and weak a priori knowledge on road behavior. The initial solution is computed by means of two machine learning and pattern recognition state-of-the-art methods (namely, Random Forest classification and Marked Point Process) that allow to process very large areas in little time with very satisfactory results. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, we propose a novel methodology for automated detection of buildings from single very-high-resolution (VHR) multispectral images. The methodology uses the principal evidence of buildings: the shadows that they cast. We model the directional spatial relationship between buildings and their shadows using a recently proposed probabilistic landscape approach. An effective shadow post-processing step is developed to focus on landscapes that belong to building regions. The building regions are detected using an original two-level graph theory approach. In the first level, each shadow region is addressed separately, and building regions are identified via iterative graph cuts designed in two-label partitioning. The final building regions are characterised in a second level in which the previously labelled building regions are subjected to a single-step multi-label graph optimisation performed over the entire image domain. Numerical assessments performed on 16 VHR GeoEye-1 images demonstrate that the proposed approach is highly robust and reliable. A distinctive specialty of the proposed approach is its applicability to buildings with diverse characteristics as well as to VHR images with significantly different illumination properties. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In a high-resolution satellite image, buildings can be considered as clustered objects belonging to the same category. Human perception of such objects consists of an initial identification of simple instances followed by recognition of more complicated ones by deduction. Inspired by this observation, a hierarchical building extraction framework is proposed to simulate the process, which includes three major components. First, a total variation-based segmentation algorithm is presented to decompose the given image into object-level elements. Then, shape analysis is applied to extract some common and easily identified rectangular buildings. Finally, the detection of buildings with complex structures is formulated as a deduction problem based on preceding extracted information in terms of maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation, and a Bayesian based approach is proposed to deal with it. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework is capable of efficiently identifying urban buildings from high-resolution satellite images.
