[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) An iterative filter that can be used for speckle reduction and restoration of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is presented here. This method can be considered as a first step in the extraction of other important information. The second step is the detection of high-reflectance regions and continues with the segmentation of the total image. We have worked in three-look simulated and real European Remote Sensing 1 satellite amplitude images. The iterative filter is based on a membrane model Markov random field approximation optimized by a synchronous local iterative method. The final form of restoration gives a total sum-preserving regularization for the pixel values of our image. The high-reflectance regions are defined as the brightest regions of the restored image. After the separation of this extreme class, we give a fast segmentation method using the histogram of the restored image. [Termes IGN] télédétection spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) The present paper describes a feature extraction method based on M-band wavelet packet frames for segmenting remotely sensed images. These wavelet features are then evaluated and selected using an efficient neurofuzzy algorithm. Both the feature extraction and neurofuzzy feature evaluation methods are unsupervised, and they do not require the knowledge of the number and distribution of classes corresponding to various land covers in remotely sensed images. The effectiveness of the methodology is demonstrated on two four-band Indian Remote Sensing 1A satellite (IRS-1A) images containing five to six overlapping classes and a three-band SPOT image containing seven overlapping classes. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we present an object-based approach for urban land cover classification from high-resolution multispectral image data that builds upon a pixel-based fuzzy classification approach. This combined pixel / object approach is demonstrated using pan-sharpened multispectral IKONOS imagery from dense urban areas. The fuzzy pixel-based classifier utilises both spectral and spatial information to discriminate between spectrally similar Road and Building urban land cover classes. After the pixel-based classification, a technique that utilises both spectral and spatial heterogeneity is used to segment the image to facilitate further object-based classification. An object-based fuzzy logic classifier is then implemented to improve upon the pixel-based classification by identifying one additional class in dense urban areas: non-road, non-building impervious surface. With the fuzzy pixel-based classification as input, the object-based classifier then uses shape, spectral. and neighbourhood features to determine the final classification of the segmented image. Using these techniques, the object-based classifier is able to identify Buildings, Impervious Surface, and Roads in dense urban areas with 76%, 81%, and 99% classification accuracies, respectively. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) A method is proposed for the enhancement of the quality of a classification result by fusing this result with remote sensing images, based on a Markov random field approach. The classification accuracy is estimated by a modified posterior probability, which is used for choosing the optimal classification result. The procedure is applied to a benchmark dataset for discrimination provided by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Data Fusion Committee, and it shows an excellent performance. The classified result won the competition of the data fusion contest 2001 held by the same committee.
