[Termes IGN] sédimentRésumé : (Auteur) Dans cet exemple, la reconnaissance spectrale par l'imagerie SPOT a été validée par des mesures radiométriques effectuées sur le terrain. Une nouvelle méthode de classification basée sur plusieurs indices de discrimination donne de bon résultats cartographiques, limités à une carte sédimentologique. Les algues déposées sur des végétaux sont radiométriquement confondues avec ces derniers. Nous proposons de résoudre ce problème en utilisant la covariation entre densité végétale et réflectance proche infrarouge, dans le but d'aboutir à une cartographie complète. After generalization, a process called displacement might be required for the following reasons : (a) features being coalesced due to a reduction in graphic space available ; (b) spatial conflicts being created by inappropriate algorithms or procedures ; (c) the characteristics of the structure of some maps features (i.e. a road junction) needing to be kept. In this study, two types of feature displacement are distinguished, i.e. feature translation and feature modification. Some mathematical models for both types of displacement are presented, which are based on the operators developed in mathematical morphology which is a science dealing with form, shape, and structure of objects. These models have also been experimented using real map data sets. The results show that these models are very promising. [Termes IGN] règleRésumé : (Auteur) Spatial data quality has become an issue of increasing concern to researchers and practitioners in the field of Spatial Information Systems (SIS)1. Clearly the results of any spatial analysis are only as good as the data on which it is based. There are a number of significant areas for data quality research in SIS. These include topological consistency; consistency between spatial and attribute data; and consistency between spatial objects' representation and their true representation on the ground. The last category may be subdivided into spatial accuracy and attribute accuracy. One approach to improving data quality is the imposition of constraints upon data entered into the database. This paper presents a taxonomy of integrity constraints as they apply to spatial database systems. Taking a cross disciplinary approach it aims to clarify some of the terms used in the database and SIS fields for data integrity management. An overview of spatial data quality concerns is given and each type of constraint is assessed regarding its approach to addressing these concerns. Some indication of an implementation method is also given for each. [Termes IGN] noeudRésumé : (Auteur) A perennial problem in vector overlay is fuzzy creep. Commercial vector overlay algorithms resolve near intersections of lines employing arbitrary node movement to align two chains at nodes selected randomly in the area of an epsilon band. While this solution is effective in reducing the number of sliver polygons, it introduces distortion. In some situations this distortion may be tolerable, but in others it may produce positional errors that are unacceptable for the cartographic or analytical purpose. Our research aims to provide an extension of overlay processing that provides a solution for GIS uses that require more exact control over node movement. The key to this is a robust, non-distorting cluster analysis. The cluster algorithm we present fulfills two goals: 1) it selects nodes based on an nearness heuristic, 2) it allows the user to fix the position of one data set's nodes and moves the other data set's nodes to match these position. In this paper we review existing cluster algorithms from the computational geometry and analytical cartography literature, evaluating their heuristics in terms of the potential to avoid fuzzy creep. Grouping the algorithms into a bit-map and fuzzy-detection types, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each approach for controlled near intersection detection. Based on the results of this analysis, we present a algorithm for non-distortive geometric match processing, the basis for our work on geometric match processing. On trouvera en première partie, un document technique décrivant les principaux concepts et justifications de la classification de base, ainsi qu'une présentation des principales définitions utilisées.
La seconde partie est le compte-rendu du séminaire de Saly, Sénégal, où se sont réunis pendant trois jours les membres du groupe de travail international "Légende et classification de l'occupation du sol".
La troisième partie est une présentation sous forme de planches couleur de l'architecture du système de classification, révisé après les recommandations du séminaire de Saly. Le schéma proposé est supporté par un logiciel interactif très convivial qui permet à l'utilisateur de définir une classe d'occupation du sol à partir d'un déroulement logique selon un arbre de décision entièrement automatisé.
