[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents an approach for the automatic registration of terrestrial laser scans using linear features. The main contribution here is introducing a new matching strategy that uses an association matrix to store information about candidate matches of linear features. The motivation for this work is aiding the 3D modeling of industrial sites rich with pole-like features. The proposed matching strategy aims at establishing hypotheses about potential minimal watches of linear features that could be used for the estimation of the transformation parameters relating the scans; then, quantifying the agreement between the scans using the estimated transformation parameters. We combine the association matrix and the well-known RANSAC approach for the derivation of conjugate pairs among the two scans. Rather than randomly selecting the line pairs as in the RANSAC-based registration, the association matrix guides the process of selecting the candidate matches of linear features. Experiments are conducted using laser scanning data of an electrical substation to assess the performance of the proposed association-matrix-based sample consensus approach as it compares to the traditional RANSAC-based procedure. The association-matrix-based approach showed consistent tendency of bringing up the correct mutches first before the RANSAC-based registration. [Termes IGN] SIFT (algorithme)Résumé : (Auteur)This paper proposes a robust image-matching method, which integrates SIFT with the optimized Bayes SAmpling Consensus (BaySAC). As the point correspondences are likely contaminated by outliers, we present a novel robust estimation method involving an efficient RaySAC for eliminating falsely accepted correspondences. The key points of the proposed hypothesis testing algorithm are determining and updating the prior probabilities of pseudo-correspondences. First, we propose a strategy for prior probability determination in terms of the statistical characteristics of a deterministic mathematical model for hypothesis testing. Moreover, the inlier probability updating is simplified based on a memorable form of Bayes' Theorem. The proposed approach is validated on a variety of image pairs. The results indicate that when compared with the performance of RANdom SAmpling Consensus (IIANSAC) and the original BaySAC, the proposed optimized BaySAC consumes less computation and obtains higher matching accuracy when the hypothesis set is contaminated with more outliers. [Termes IGN] trait de côteRésumé : (Auteur) A new approach based on Affine Invariant Feature Matching (AIFM) with a filtering technique is proposed for automatic registration of remotely sensed image in coastal areas. The novelty of this approach is an automatic filtering technique using RANdom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC) with shoreline constraint for AIFM to remove all wrong matches and simultaneously keep as many correct matches as possible. To implement it, a progressive threshold strategy (from small value to large value) is presented to determine an appropriate RANSAC threshold, in which the progressive process is guided by shoreline constraint. The proposed approach (with filtering) is compared with standard AIFM (without filtering) using two typical image pairs in coastal areas. The experimental results indicate that the proposed approach can always provide much better matching results than standard AIFM. [Termes IGN] transformation de HoughRésumé : (Auteur) Land-based mobile mapping system (MMS) technology provides an innovative way to update geospatial information, characterised by rapid data collection and direct georeferencing. This paper presents a new method for automatically updating large scale maps using sequential MMS imagery. A major component of the technique is the extraction of vertical lines from such imagery through an improved Hough transform and vanishing point classification. These lines are stereomatched using an epipolar constraint and random sample consensus (RANSAC) strategy, with object space positions obtained by photogrammetric intersection. Buildings are recognised based on these vertical lines in conjunction with basic polygon templates, allowing maps to be updated. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Geometric registration of multiple-source data is of great value for fusion processing and is very beneficial for the research of desert ecosystems. A lidar point cloud and optical image are two typical data that need to be integrated for data assimilation and information retrieval. This paper aims to solve the registration problem of aerial imagery and airborne lidar data in desert areas where traditional registration methods have difficulties in identifying registration primitives. In many deserts, such as the Sahara in Africa and Gobi in China, we observe that there are unevenly distributed desert bushes, which can be used as cues for registration. In this paper, we propose a registration approach using the centroids of bushes as registration primitives. This approach employs similar triangles created from both centroids as the evidence for matching and verifies the registration by the RANSAC algorithm. Experiments using data taken from the Dunhuang Gobi Desert in China show the registration surface model visually, and at the same time quantifies the deviation error, which corroborates that the proposed registration method is effective and feasible in desert areas.
