[Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (Auteur) A global sensitivity analysis utilizing the extended Fourier amplitude sensitivity test is used to determine the parameter sensitivity of the L-band microwave emission of the biosphere (L-MEB) model. The results are analyzed from two perspectives of calibration and inversion. First, the parameters of surface soil moisture, soil roughness factor, vegetation optical depth at nadir, and effective land surface temperature are the four most sensitive parameters in the L-MEB model, demonstrating their possibility to be retrieved in the multiparameter retrieval approaches. Then, the high total sensitivity index (TSI) values of surface soil temperature in the analyses emphasize the importance of high-precision land surface temperature data in the surface soil moisture retrievals, especially for rougher or more vegetated surface conditions. Finally, our analysis indicates that TSI values are high for the soil surface roughness and vegetation optical depth model parameters but low for the vegetation structure, single scattering albedo, and soil roughness coefficient model parameters at incidence angles near nadir. This suggests that calibration experiments performed at small incidence angles may be appropriate for some but not all of the model parameters, which characterize the effect of soil surface roughness and vegetation on the terrestrial brightness temperature. Consequently, new calibration procedures that account for the different relative sensitivities of these model parameters at larger incidence angles may need to be developed in the future. [Termes IGN] transport urbainRésumé : (auteur) Model validation is a significant issue for the modelling of social network-based transportation models because of the many interacting components (the individuals, the environment, and now the network) in the model.
In this paper we focus on a sensitivity analysis for such a model, which is part of a larger validation approach known as process validation. This approach investigates both the structure and behaviour of the model, to evaluate whether the model can be used for prediction.
The paper draws on a novel set of experiments with an agent-based model which was developed to explore the effects of social networks on activity and travel behaviour. Several versions of the model were created, beginning with a single day model with no interaction, and then adding in multi-day runs with interactions, in order to demonstrate the validation process.
The paper argues that testing the model at different levels of complexity increases confidence in the model and makes it easier to locate components or functionality that require improvement. Spatial non-stationarity of statistical associations between variables further influences the demographic analyses. This study investigates the implications of these two phenomena within the context of migration-environment associations. Global and local statistical models are fit across increasing levels of aggregation using household level survey data from rural South Africa. We raise the issue of operational scale sensitivity, which describes how the explanatory power of certain variables depends on the aggregation level. We find that as units of analysis (households) are aggregated, some variables become non-significant in the global models, while others are less sensitive to aggregation. Local model results show that aggregation reduces spatial variation in migration-related local associations but also affects variables differently. Spatial non-stationarity appears to be the driving force behind this phenomenon as the results from the global model mask this relationship. Operational scale sensitivity appears related to the underlying spatial autocorrelation of the non-aggregated variables but also to the way a variable is constructed. Understanding operational scale sensitivity can help to refine the process of selecting variables related to the scale of analysis and better understand the effects of spatial non-stationarity on statistical relationships. [Termes IGN] Union EuropéenneRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a modelling approach for the spatial allocation of second-generation feedstock (lignocellulosic crops) under a reference policy scenario in European Union of 28 Member State (EU-28). The land-use modelling platform (LUMP) was used in order to simulate the land-use changes from 2010 to 2050. Within the LUMP, the land demand for these lignocellulosic energy crops was derived from the Common Agricultural Policy Regionalised Impact analysis model. Suitability maps were generated for two main energy crop groups: herbaceous and woody lignocellulosic crops, using multicriteria analysis techniques. Biophysical factors (climate, soil properties and topographical aspects), natural and artificial constraints and location-specific land categories were defined as relevant components within the platform. A sensitivity analysis determined the most influential factors to be temperature, precipitation, length of growing period and number of frost-free days. The results of the modelling exercise in the LUMP reflect the significant renewable energy contribution from energy crops in EU-28, which was estimated to be between 2.3 EJ/year (in 2020) and 6.3 EJ/year (in 2050), accounting for 2.3% and 9.6% of total energy consumption in the EU-28. The results of the allocation were aggregated at regional level to analyse trends. Regions with considerably high demand were identified in Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland.
