[Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment and Follow On (GRACE/-FO) global monthly measurements of Earth's gravity field have led to significant advances in quantifying mass transfer. However, a significant temporal gap between missions hinders evaluating long-term mass variations. Moreover, instrumental and processing errors translate into large non-physical North-South stripes polluting geophysical signals. We use Multichannel Singular Spectrum Analysis (M-SSA) to overcome both issues by exploiting spatio-temporal information of Level-2 GRACE/-FO solutions, filtered using the DDK7 decorrelation and a new complementary filter, built based on the residual noise between fully processed data and a parametric fit to observations. Using an iterative M-SSA on Equivalent Water Height (EWH) time series processed by Center of Space Research, GeoForschungsZentrum, Institute of Geodesy at Graz University of Technology, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, we replace missing data and outliers to obtain a combined evenly sampled solution. Then, we apply M-SSA to retrieve common signals between each EWH time series and its same-latitude neighbors to further reduce residual spatially uncorrelated noise. Comparing GRACE/-FO M-SSA solution with Satellite Laser Ranging and Swarm low-degree Earth's gravity field and hydrological model demonstrates its ability to satisfyingly fill missing observations. Our solution achieves a noise level comparable to mass concentration (mascon) solutions over oceans (3.0 mm EWH), without requiring a priori information nor regularization. While short-wavelength signals are challenging to capture using highly filtered spherical harmonics or mascons solutions, we show that our technique efficiently recovers localized mass variations using well-documented mass transfers associated with reservoir impoundments. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we propose an approach to determine seven parameters of the Helmert transformation by transforming the coordinates of a continuous GNSS network from the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84) to the International Terrestrial Reference Frame. This includes (1) converting the coordinates of common points from the global coordinate system to the local coordinate system, (2) identifying and eliminating outliers by the Dikin estimator, and (3) estimating seven parameters of the Helmert transformation by least squares (LS) estimation with the “clean” data (i.e. outliers removed). Herein, the local coordinate system provides a platform to separate points’ horizontal and vertical components. Then, the Dikin estimator identifies and eliminates outliers in the horizontal or vertical component separately. It is significant because common points in a continuous GNSS network may contain outliers. The proposed approach is tested with the Géoazur GNSS network with the results showing that the Dikin estimator detects outliers at 6 out of 18 common points, among which three points are found with outliers in the vertical component only. Thus, instead of eliminating all coordinate components of these six common points, we only eliminate all coordinate components of three common points and only the vertical component of another three common points. Finally, the classical LS estimation is applied to “clean” data to estimate seven parameters of the Helmert transformation with a significant accuracy improvement. The Dikin estimator’s results are compared to those of other robust estimators of Huber and Theil-Sen, which shows that the Dikin estimator performs better. Furthermore, the weighted total least-squares estimation is implemented to assess the accuracy of the LS estimation with the same data. The inter-comparison of the seven estimated parameters and their standard deviations shows a small difference at a few per million levels (E-6). [Termes IGN] structure-from-motionRésumé : (auteur) This study presents a method to generate historical orthomosaics using Structure-from-Motion (SfM ) photogrammetry, historical aerial photographs, and lidar data, and then analyzes the horizontal accuracy and factors that can affect the quality of historical orthoimagery products made with these approaches. Two sets of historical aerial photographs (1934 and 1951) were analyzed, focused on the town of Woodstock in Connecticut, U.S.A. Ground control points (GCPs) for georeferencing were obtained by overlaying multiple data sets, including lidar elevation data and derivative hillshades, and recent orthoimagery. Root-Mean-Square Error values of check points (CPs ) for 1934 and 1951 orthomosaics without extreme outliers are 0.83 m and 1.37 m, respectively. Results indicate that orthomosaics can be used for standard mapping and geographic information systems (GIS ) work according to the ASPRS 1990 accuracy standard. In addition, results emphasize that three main factors can affect the horizontal accuracy of orthomosaics: (1) types of CPs, (2) the number of tied photos, and (3) terrain. [Termes IGN] propagation d'erreurRésumé : (auteur) Using GNSS-Acoustic (GNSS-A) technology to establish the seafloor geodetic datum is both feasible and flexible and thus has become an important way to obtain the absolute positions of seafloor control points. However, numerous errors are inevitable in marine surveying, including systematic errors and gross errors caused by GNSS dynamic positioning, inaccurate sound velocity profile measurements, and ocean ambient noise, and their interference will be directly reflected in the positioning results. To accurately calculate the seafloor control point coordinates, this paper first notes that the general error propagation law (EPL) method is defective in dealing with various error factors in GNSS-A positioning. A more rigorous method incorporates the time-varying term of the sound velocity ranging error into the coefficient matrix of the underwater observation equation, and the transducer position error should be considered. Therefore, a Gauss-Helmert (GH) model is used for seafloor control point positioning. Then, considering the dual nonlinearity of the model, a Lagrange objective function is constructed to derive its solution algorithm. On this basis, considering the gross errors polluting of the observations, the robust estimation principle is introduced, and the robust solution steps are given. Finally, simulation experiments and a testing experiment in the sea area near Jiaozhou Bay are used to verify the performance of the new method. The results show that the functional relationship and stochastic model of the nonlinear GH model for seafloor point positioning are reasonably described. Under ideal conditions with no gross errors and either different water depths or different transducer position errors, the accuracy and stability of the new method are both higher than those of the EPL method. When the observations are polluted by gross errors, the robust algorithm of the new method can accurately identify the abnormal information. By improving the robustness of the observation and structure spaces, the positioning precision of the 3D point deviation results can be optimized, and the solution performance of the new method is superior to that of the general method. [Termes IGN] transformation de HoughRésumé : (auteur) Forest management and planning require information regarding the current state of the forest. Remote sensing techniques allow to obtain geospatial data, also for the forestry sector. As one of the remote-sensed technologies datasets, Terrestrial Laser Scanning data is widely used to derive detailed information about tree and forest stand parameters. This article presents the combination of circular Hough transform, denoising procedure, and robust least-square circle fitting method to extract stem positions from Terrestrial Laser Scanning data. In the proposed approach, initial tree stems position was detected with circular Hough transform. Then, obtained results were denoised to exclude most non-tree trunk points and analyze three-dimensional data from laser scanning to find exact circular tree stems with a robust least-square circle fitting method. The developed algorithm is effective in obtaining the trees’ geodetic positions from laser scanning data. The results generated in this study can be used as basics for further automatic determination of tree characteristics, such as tree species, height, or crown range. In this study, 94.8% tree stems delineation was generated with a mean accuracy of 87.2%, 1.64 cm of root mean square error for stem position, and 1.15 cm for tree radius measured at ground level. The process conducted in this research can be used to detect other circle-shaped objects, such as lamps or power towers, for which obtaining dense Terrestrial Laser Scanning data is available. The detected positions of these objects can power the geographic information systems or thematic industry systems, where it is necessary to determine the geodetic object position results from legal regulations.
