[Termes IGN] précision géométrique (imagerie)Résumé : (Auteur) High-resolution ( 1m) satellite imagery and archival World War 2 era (WW2) aerial photographs are currently available to support high-resolution longterm change measurements at sites across China. A major limitation to these measurements is the spatial accuracy with which this imagery can be orthorectified and co-registered. We orthorectified IKONOS 1m resolution GEO-format imagery and WW2 aerial photographs across five 100km2 rural sites in China with terrain ranging from flat to hilly to mountainous. Ground control points (GCPs) were collected uniformly across 100 km2 IKONOS scenes using a differential Global Positioning Systems (GPS) field campaign. WW2 aerial photos were co-registered to orthorectified IKONOS imagery using bundle block adjustment and rational function models. GCP precision, terrain relief and the number and distribution of GCPs significantly influenced image orthorectification accuracy. Root mean square errors (RMSEs) at GCPs for IKONOS imagery were Numéro de notice : A2005-256 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/01431160512331326684 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/01431160512331326684 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27392

[Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (Auteur) We propose an extension of map algebra to three dimensions for spatio-temporal data handling. This approach yields a new class of map algebra functions that we call "cube functions". Whereas conventional map algebra functions operate on data layers representing two-dimensional space, cube functions operate on data cubes representing two-dimensional space over a third-dimensional period of time. We describe the prototype implementation of a spatio-temporal data structure and selected cube function versions of conventional local, focal and zonal map algebra functions. The utility of cube functions is demonstrated through a case study analysing the spatio-temporal variability of remotly sensed, southeastern U.S. vegetation character over various land covers and during different El Nino/Southeastern Oscillation (ENSO) phases. Like conventional map algebra, the application of cube functions may demand significant data prepocessing when integrating diverse data sets, and are subject to limitations related to data storage and algorithm performance. Solutions to these issues include extending data compression and computing strategies for calculations on very large data volumes to spatio-temporal data handling. [Termes IGN] représentation des connaissancesRésumé : (Auteur) We propose a formalism and a programming environment in which sophisticated spatio-temporal reasoning can be performed, while keeping the capabilities of manipulating and presenting large amounts of geographical data, typical of commercial Geographical Information Systems (GISs). The spatiotemporal knowledge representation language, named MuTACLP+, is based on constraint logic programming and is integrated via a middleware of commands and translation features with a commercial GIS. The paper presents the language, the architecture of the environment, and a few examples of its use in the field of event planning. [Termes IGN] interpolationRésumé : (Auteur) Investigators in many fields are analyzing temporal change in spatial data. Such analyses are typically conducted by comparing the value of some metric (e.g., area, contagion, or diversity indices) measured at time T1, with the value of the same metric measured at time T2, These comparisons typically include the use of simple interpolation models to estimate the value of the metric of interest at points in time between observations, followed by applications of differential calculus to investigate the rates at which the metric is changing. Unfortunately, these techniques treat the values of the metrics being analyzed as if they were observed values, when in fact the metrics are derived from more fundamental spatial data. The consequence of treating metrics as observed values is a significant reduction in the degrees of freedom in spatial change over time. This results in an oversimplified view of spatio-temporal change. A more accurate view can be produced by (1) applying temporal interpolation models to observed spatial data rather than derived spatial metrics; (2) expanding the metric of interest's computational equation by replacing the terms relating to the observed spatial data with their temporal interpolation equations; and (3) differentiating the expanded computational equation. This alternative, three-step spatio-temporal analysis technique will be described and justified. The alternative technique will be compared to the conventional approach using common metrics and a sample data set.
