[Termes IGN] série de TaylorRésumé : (Auteur) Semi-Supervised Learning (SSL) method has recently caught much attention in the fields of machine learning and computer vision owing to its superiority in classifying abundant unlabelled samples using a few labeled samples. The goal of this paper is to provide an experimental efficiency comparison between graph based SSL algorithms and traditional supervised learning algorithms (e.g., support vector machines) for multispectral image classification. This research shows that SSL algorithms generally outperform supervised learning algorithms in both classification accuracy and anti-noise ability. In the experiments carried out on two data sets (hyperspectral image and Landsat image), the mean overall accuracies (OAs) of supervised learning algorithms are 15 percent and 86 percent, while the mean oas of SSL algorithms are 26 percent and 99 percent. To overcome the polynomial complexity of SSL algorithms, we also developed a linear-complexity algorithm by employing multivariate Taylor Series Expansion (TSE) and Woodbury Formula. [Termes IGN] théorie des graphesRésumé : (Auteur) The conventional raster-based least-cost path technique, in which the connectivity graph is constructed by treating each raster cell as a node and linking each node to its adjacent neighbors, has been widely used to determine optimum paths in space. Unfortunately, paths calculated with this method are subject to distortions that stem from the imposed node-link structure. Due to the distortions, the calculated paths may be longer than the true optimum paths in continuous space, and because of this, they may also look highly unrealistic when displayed on a map. This study examines how the quality of the raster-based paths can be improved by using larger connectivity patterns on the one hand, and placing nodes on the sides of the cells of a raster instead of at their centers, on the other. In addition, the utility of the quadtree structure is examined. The different methods are evaluated against three different datasets using the cost distance of the calculated paths and processing times as evaluation criteria. The results indicate that raster-based paths can be improved by using the evaluated techniques, although the degree of improvement is also dependent on the properties of the underlying cost raster. [Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Automated 3-dimensional modeling pipelines include 3D scanning, registration, data abstraction, and visualization. All steps in such a pipeline require the processing of a massive amount of 3D data, due to the ability of current 3D scanners to sample environments with a high density. The increasing sampling rates make it easy to acquire billions of spatial data points. This paper presents algorithms and data structures for handling these data. We propose an efficient octree to store and compress 3D data without loss of precision. We demonstrate its usage for an exchange file format, fast point cloud visualization, sped-up 3D scan matching, and shape detection algorithms. We evaluate our approach using typical terrestrial laser scans. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes a novel change-detection-driven transfer learning (TL) approach to update land-cover maps by classifying remote-sensing images acquired on the same area at different times (i.e., image time series). The proposed approach requires that a reliable training set is available only for one of the images (i.e., the source domain) in the time series whereas it is not for another image to be classified (i.e., the target domain). Unlike other literature TL methods, no additional assumptions on either the similarity between class distributions or the presence of the same set of land-cover classes in the two domains are required. The proposed method aims at defining a reliable training set for the target domain, taking advantage of the already available knowledge on the source domain. This is done by applying an unsupervised-change-detection method to target and source domains and transferring class labels of detected unchanged training samples from the source to the target domain to initialize the target-domain training set. The training set is then optimized by a properly defined novel active learning (AL) procedure. At the early iterations of AL, priority in labeling is given to samples detected as being changed, whereas in the remaining ones, the most informative samples are selected from changed and unchanged unlabeled samples. Finally, the target image is classified. Experimental results show that transferring the class labels from the source domain to the target domain provides a reliable initial training set and that the priority rule for AL results in a fast convergence to the desired accuracy with respect to Standard AL.
