[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) The objective of the TerraMobilita/iQmulus 3D urban analysis benchmark is to evaluate the current state of the art in urban scene analysis from mobile laser scanning (MLS) at large scale. A very detailed semantic tree for urban scenes is proposed. We call analysis the capacity of a method to separate the points of the scene into these categories (classification), and to separate the different objects of the same type for object classes (detection). A very large ground truth is produced manually in two steps using advanced editing tools developed especially for this benchmark. Based on this ground truth, the benchmark aims at evaluating the classification, detection and segmentation quality of the submitted results. [Termes IGN] segmentation binaireRésumé : (auteur) Despite of the popularity of Delauney structure for mesh generation, octree based approaches remain an interesting solution for a first step surface reconstruction. In this paper, we propose a generic framework for a octree cell based mesh generation. Its input is a set of Lidar-based 3D measurements or other inputs which are formulated as a set of mass functions that characterize the level of confidence on the occupancy of each octree’s leaf. The output is a binary segmentation of the space between occupied and empty areas by taking into account the uncertainty of data. To this end, the problem is then reduced to a global energy optimization framework efficiently optimized with a min-cut approach. We use the approach for producing a large scale surface reconstruction algorithm by merging data from ubiquitous sources like airborne, terrestrial Lidar data, occupancy map and extra cues. Once the surface is computed, a solution is proposed for texturing the mesh. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (auteur) Detection and characterisation of spatial patterns is crucial for cartographic generalisation since it entails preserving the patterns as much as possible within scale limits. Building alignments are commonly confronted patterns in the topographic maps/databases. They are perceptually recognised in accordance with relevant Gestalt factors, namely proximity, similarity, common orientation and continuity. This study is concentrated on how to characterise building alignments detected by automated or manual methods. To this end, new measures based on Delaunay triangulation and regression line/curve are established to correspond to the Gestalt factors. The relationship between the measures and Gestalt principles has been illustrated with a decision tree. An index value was computed by total sum of measures’ values to compare and order alignments from quality aspect. Additionally, a supervised classification was performed with C4.5 algorithm thus a decision tree was obtained to be able to both associate the quality categories with the measure values and automatically assign alignments into a quality class. The findings demonstrate that proposed measures are substantially effective for representing Gestalt factors. The proposed methods can potentially enhance and ease the characterisation of building alignments in topographic map generalization. [Termes IGN] occupation du solRésumé : (Auteur) With the advancement of machine learning, classification methods have been increasingly used in change (or transition) detection. The texton forest (TF)-based method has received increasing research attention because of its speed, good generalization characteristics, stability, and especially its ability to capture spatial contextual information. In this paper, we propose a TF-based method for transition detection in remotely sensed imagery. We investigate a maximal joint-information gain criterion for random forests to better capture combined information in the bi-temporal images in transition detection, which is implemented by a natural extension of binary-trees in traditional methods into a quad-decision tree structure. We also utilize color-invariant gradient as a feature to help alleviate the impact of difference in imaging conditions on bi-temporal transition detection. The experimental results for transition detection show that our bi-temporal TF classifier achieves better performance than a post-classification comparison method and several other alternative methods. [Termes IGN] sous-boisRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we propose a decision tree algorithm to characterize spatial extent and spectral features of invasive plant species (i.e., guava, Madagascar cardamom, and Molucca raspberry) in tropical rainforests by integrating datasets from passive and active remote sensing sensors. The decision tree algorithm is based on a number of input variables including matching score and infeasibility images from Mixture Tuned Matched Filtering (MTMF), land-cover maps, tree height information derived from high resolution stereo imagery, polarimetric feature images, Radar Forest Degradation Index (RFDI), polarimetric and InSAR coherence and phase difference images. Spatial distributions of the study organisms are mapped using pixel-based Winner-Takes-All (WTA) algorithm, object oriented feature extraction, spectral unmixing, and compared with the newly developed decision tree approach. Our results show that the InSAR phase difference and PolInSAR HH–VV coherence images of L-band PALSAR data are the most important variables following the MTMF outputs in mapping subcanopy invasive plant species in tropical rainforest. We also show that the three types of invasive plants alone occupy about 17.6% of the Betampona Nature Reserve (BNR) while mixed forest, shrubland and grassland areas are summed to 11.9% of the reserve. This work presents the first systematic attempt to evaluate forest degradation, habitat quality and invasive plant statistics in the BNR, and provides significant insights as to management strategies for the control of invasive plants and conversation in the reserve.
