[Termes IGN] trigonométrie sphériqueRésumé : (Auteur) A projection family, named Equal Arc Ratio Projection (EARP), is proposed in this paper, which has two kinds of geometric cases. Coordinates in the projections are determined by the ratios between four special arcs. The projection for spherical octahedron is derived, which is available for Dutton's Quaternary Triangular Mesh (QTM), and both projections of Goodchild's and Otoo's for QTM are found to be two special implementations of EARP. The icosahedral projection and thus the corresponding spherical triangle quadtree partition model are also developed. The partition model is compared with several other global grid models. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Lidar (light detection and ranging) point cloud data contain abundant three-dimensional (3D) information. Dense distribution of scanned points on object surfaces prominently implies surface features. Particularly, plane features commonly appear in a typical lidar dataset of artificial structures. To explore implicitly contained spatial information, this study developed an automatic scheme to segment a lidar point cloud dataset into coplanar point clusters. The central mechanism of the proposed method is a split-and-merge segmentation based on an octree structure. Plane fitting serves as an engine in the mechanism that evaluates how well a group of points fits to a plane. Segmented coplanar points and derived parameters of their best-fit plane are obtained through the process. This paper also provides algorithms to derive various geometric properties of segmented coplanar points, including inherent properties of a plane, intersections of planes, and properties of point distribution on a plane. Several successful cases of handling airborne and terrestrial lidar data as well as a combination of the two are demonstrated. This method should improve the efficiency of object modelling using lidar data. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) This paper focuses on extracting vertical objects from 3D terrestrial point clouds, acquired in dense urban scenes. We are especially interested in urban vertical posts whose inventory is useful for many applications such as urban mapping, virtual tourism or localization. The proposed methodology is based on two steps. The first is a focalization step providing hypothetical candidates consisting of vertical features. The second step validates or rejects these candidates. In the case of validation, the features are classified according to the posts pattern library. The extraction of vertical objects is processed by projecting the point cloud in a horizontal plan. The accumulation density, the minimal and maximal heights are used to filter out ground points, tree leaves and to solve acquisition problems such as a region multiscans. After filtering step, the accumulation image is updated. Connex regions correspond to the vertical objects. These candidates are then validated regarding the posts pattern library. An analysis of the 3D vertical point distribution is processed. To do that, each region is characterized by its eigenvalues and eigenvectors based on a Principal Component Analysis in 3D space. The classification is processed by a decision tree algorithm. Results are presented on large and various datasets acquired under real conditions in a dense urban area. A global accuracy of 84 % is reached. Note de contenu : INTRODUCTION

[Termes IGN] relation topologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Topological relationships like overlap, inside, meet, and disjoint uniquely characterize the relative position between objects in space. For a long time, they have been a focus of interdisciplinary research as in artificial intelligence, cognitive science, linguistics, robotics, and spatial reasoning. Especially as predicates, they support the design of suitable query languages for spatial data retrieval and analysis in spatial database systems and geographical information systems. While, to a large extent, conceptual aspects of topological predicates (like their definition and reasoning with them) as well as strategies for avoiding unnecessary or repetitive predicate executions (like predicate migration and spatial index structures) have been emphasized, the development of robust and efficient implementation techniques for them has been largely neglected. Especially the recent design of topological predicates for all combinations of complex spatial data types has resulted in a large increase of their numbers and stressed the importance of their efficient implementation. The goal of this article is to develop correct and efficient implementation techniques of topological predicates for all combinations of complex spatial data types including two-dimensional point, line, and region objects, as they have been specified by different authors and in different commercial and public domain software packages. Our solution consists of two phases. In the exploration phase, for a given scene of two spatial objects, all topological events like intersection and meeting situations are summarized in two precisely defined topological feature vectors (one for each argument object of a topological predicate) whose specifications are characteristic and unique for each combination of spatial data types. These vectors serve as input for the evaluation phase which analyzes the topological events and determines the Boolean result of a topological predicate (predicate verification) or the kind of topological predicate (predicate determination) by a formally defined method called nine-intersection matrix characterization. Besides this general evaluation method, the article presents an optimized method for predicate verification, called matrix thinning, and an optimized method for predicate determination, called minimum cost decision tree. The methods presented in this article are applicable to all known complete collections of mutually exclusive topological predicates that are formally based on the well known nine-intersection model.
