[Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (auteur) Filtering of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data into the ground and non-ground points is a fundamental step in processing raw airborne LiDAR data. This paper proposes an improved progressive triangulated irregular network (TIN) densification (IPTD) filtering algorithm that can cope with a variety of forested landscapes, particularly both topographically and environmentally complex regions. The IPTD filtering algorithm consists of three steps: (1) acquiring potential ground seed points using the morphological method; (2) obtaining accurate ground seed points; and (3) building a TIN-based model and iteratively densifying TIN. The IPTD filtering algorithm was tested in 15 forested sites with various terrains (i.e., elevation and slope) and vegetation conditions (i.e., canopy cover and tree height), and was compared with seven other commonly used filtering algorithms (including morphology-based, slope-based, and interpolation-based filtering algorithms). Results show that the IPTD achieves the highest filtering accuracy for nine of the 15 sites. In general, it outperforms the other filtering algorithms, yielding the lowest average total error of 3.15% and the highest average kappa coefficient of 89.53%. [Termes IGN] service fondé sur la positionRésumé : (auteur) With the expansion of wireless-communication infrastructure and the evolution of indoor positioning technologies, the demand for location-based services (LBS) has been increasing in indoor as well as outdoor spaces. However, we should consider a significant challenge regarding the location privacy for realizing indoor LBS. To avoid violations of location privacy, much research has been performed, and location K-anonymity has been intensively studied to blur a user location with a cloaking region involving at least K−1 locations of other persons. Owing to the differences between indoor and outdoor spaces, it is, however, difficult to apply this approach directly in an indoor space. First, the definition of the distance metric in indoor space is different from that in Euclidean and road-network spaces. Second, a bounding region, which is a general form of an anonymizing spatial region (ASR) in Euclidean space, does not respect the locality property in indoor space, where movement is constrained by building components. Therefore, we introduce the concept of indoor location K-anonymity in this paper. Then, we investigate the requirements of ASR in indoor spaces and propose novel methods to determine the ASR, considering hierarchical structures of the indoor space. While indoor ASRs are determined at the anonymizer, we also propose processing methods for r-range queries and k-nearest-neighbor queries at a location-based service provider. We validate our methods with experimental analysis of query-processing performance and resilience against attacks in indoor spaces. [Termes IGN] valeur propreRésumé : (Auteur) Recently, sparse graph-based discriminant analysis (SGDA) has been developed for the dimensionality reduction and classification of hyperspectral imagery. In SGDA, a graph is constructed by ℓ1-norm optimization based on available labeled samples. Different from traditional methods (e.g., k-nearest neighbor with Euclidean distance), weights in an ℓ1-graph derived via a sparse representation can automatically select more discriminative neighbors in the feature space. However, the sparsity-based graph represents each sample individually, lacking a global constraint on each specific solution. As a consequence, SGDA may be ineffective in capturing the global structures of data. To overcome this drawback, a sparse and low-rank graph-based discriminant analysis (SLGDA) is proposed. Low-rank representation has been proved to be capable of preserving global data structures, although it may result in a dense graph. In SLGDA, a more informative graph is constructed by combining both sparsity and low rankness to maintain global and local structures simultaneously. Experimental results on several different multiple-class hyperspectral-classification tasks demonstrate that the proposed SLGDA significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art SGDA. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Geographic data themes modelled as planar partitions are found in many GIS applications (e.g. topographic data, land cover, zoning plans, etc.). When generalizing this kind of 2D map, this specific nature has to be respected and generalization operations should be carefully designed. This paper presents a design and implementation of an algorithm to perform a split operation of faces (polygonal areas).
The result of the split operation has to fit in with the topological data structure supporting variable-scale data. The algorithm, termed SPLITAREA, obtains the skeleton of a face using a constrained Delaunay triangulation. The new split operator is especially relevant in urban areas with many infrastructural objects such as roads. The contribution of this work is twofold: (1) the quality of the split operation is formally assessed by comparing the results on actual test data sets with a goal/metric we defined beforehand for the ‘balanced’ split and (2) the algorithm allows a weighted split, where different neighbours have different weights due to different compatibility. With the weighted split, the special case of unmovable boundaries is also explicitly addressed.
The developed split algorithm can also be used outside the generalization context in other settings. For example, to make two cross-border data sets fit, the algorithm could be applied to allow splitting of slivers.
