[Termes IGN] Vancouver (Colombie britannique)Résumé : (Auteur) This research study extends the Logic Scoring of Preference (LSP) as a general multicriteria evaluation (MCE) method by presenting and evaluating a new GIS.LSP method and software tool implemented within the geographic information systems (GIS) environment. For the evaluation and validation of the method and software tool, we describe a case study of urban densification suitability analysis using geospatial data for the Metro Vancouver Region, Canada. The criteria, LSP structures, and aggregators groups were developed from the perspective of urban developers who are key stakeholders in the densification process. We compare two group of aggregators and perform sensitivity and cost–suitability analysis of the LSP method by variation of input suitability scores, input attributes, and aggregators. The results indicate the GIS.LSP method is effective in providing a flexible and sensitive workflow to create realistic and justifiable outcomes from complex criteria that are bounded by stakeholders' goals and requirements. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Today, participation in social investment is a critical concern of urban management in metropolitan areas. To be effective in both public and private sectors, such participation requires an accurate knowledge of geographical distribution of resources and social needs in different parts of the city in order to better manage these investments. To this end, the present research aimed at providing an objective and tangible integrated approach to identify urban neighborhoods with high potential for social investment. The research area was neighborhoods located in Mashhad, Iran. Thirty-one criteria in three dimensions of empowerment, education, and culture were identified. Having determined, normalized, and weighted the values of each criteria in different neighborhoods using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method, the weight scores of each neighborhood in each dimension were added up by GIS approach and Arc GIS 10.1 software. Then, in order to conclude the overall status of social investment in different neighborhoods, a fuzzy inference system (FIS) was designed in the MATLAB 2014a environment according to experts’ opinions. Finally, based on the output of the designed system, the overall status of each neighborhood studied was determined in terms of social investment and neighborhoods with high potential for social investment were identified. The approach presented provides an insight for urban mangers, companies, and philanthropic investors to invest more effectively given the appropriate social investment opportunities. Today, the identification of coastal vulnerabilities worldwide is necessary to prevent impacts and drive action. The aim of the work was to estimate the vulnerable areas from a total rate of increase in sea level of 2.8 m and to identify the impacts of greater magnitude through the use of hierarchical analysis. The analytic hierarchy process method was used to list the most serious impacts. In addition, the simulation of the most vulnerable sites was carried out in a GIS environment using geoprocessing and a digital terrain model for the area of study. The Ilha Grande Bay region (southeastern Brazil) was chosen as a test area due to its economic, tourist and environmental importance. The main impacts are floods, coastal erosion and loss of coastal ecosystems. The most vulnerable areas are characterized as flat with low slopes, usually coastal plains occupied by environmental protection areas, urban centers and historical centers. The methodology proved to be effective in assessing and forecasting vulnerable areas and can be applied to several types of coastal areas. [Termes IGN] SibérieRésumé : (auteur) The main purpose of this work is to assess the suitability of land for cultivation of the main agricultural crop of Western Siberia, namely spring wheat. The algorithm of land suitability assessment was developed on the territory of the test plot of land-use of CJSC Mirny, Kochenevsky District, Novosibirsk Region. For assessment of land suitability on the basis of expert knowledge, criteria related to relief and soil, not only known but also specific, inherent in the area under consideration, have been identified. In the absence of information on the topography and relief of the territory under consideration, the spatial database of geodata was created based on the results of high-resolution digital aerial photography from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Elementary surfaces (ESs) at the micro-relief level have been determined with the help of GIS tools. Two most popular methods of obtaining criterion weights have been analysed: Analytic Hierarchy Process and the direct ranking method, and under certain conditions, a connection between these methods have been established. To assess the land suitability, the land suitability indices of selected ESs were calculated using GIS-MCDA (Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis) method Weighted linear combination. Based on the value of land suitability index for all ESs, belonging to a certain suitability class according to FAO classification has been established. A map of land suitability with an assessment of spring wheat sowing expediency was obtained. [Termes IGN] ShenzhenRésumé : (auteur) Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) polarimetry has demonstrated high efficiency in the detection of landslides in vegetated mountainous areas. In such places, post-landslide soil layers appear to correspond to the typical surface scattering mechanism, which is significantly different from the volume scattering behaviour of the surrounding vegetation. However, a landslide in the complex surroundings of various landforms, involving naked hillslopes, construction fields, bare farmlands, and other such aspects, may not be accurately identified owing to the occurrence of surface scattering behaviours. In order to detect landslides using SAR polarimetry without the limitation of vegetated mountainous areas, we propose a novel method of combining change detection (CD) and an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) based on the Yamaguchi decomposition (YD) to identify landslides while ensuring fewer false alarms. In particular, CD is applied to a pair of pre- and post-event datasets to determine the regions modified by landslides or human activities, and the AHP is performed over the post-event dataset to identify the suspect landslide region characterised by the surface scattering mechanism. Finally, the two results are fused by a logical operation to identify the actual landslide by removing the non-modified surface scattering regions. A case study of the Shenzhen landslide in complex surroundings was considered to verify the performance of the proposed method (CD-AHP). The results indicate that the method could clearly define the main body of the Shenzhen landslide from the city suburbs with a small number of false alarms. Therefore, this method provides a considerable perspective for landslide detection in complex surroundings using SAR polarimetry.
