[Termes IGN] polarisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper extends prior work by Cameron and Rais to define new multidimensional representations of the reciprocal scatterer space and the general polarization scatterer space, including distance metric definitions for these representations. The relationship between the maximum symmetric scatterer type and the maximum value that can be attained by the asymmetry parameter is derived to determine the shape of the polarization reciprocal scatterer space. Moreover, a metric is derived for this space that reduces to the symmetric scatterer space metric when the asymmetry parameter is zero. These results are extended to the general polarization scatterer space by defining a metric on the polarization scatterer space that reduces to the polarization reciprocal scatterer metric when the reciprocity parameter Ørec is zero Numéro de notice : A2013-302 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2012.2221466 En ligne : https://doi.org/ 10.1109/TGRS.2012.2221466 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32440

[Termes IGN] pollution des mersRésumé : (Auteur) A polarimetric model to relate the degree of polarization, DoP, to the sea surface scattering with and without oil slicks, under low-to-moderate wind conditions, is proposed. DoP, measured directly from the Mueller scattering matrix, is shown to be a reliable measure of the departure from Bragg scattering; a phenomenon that, under low-to-moderate wind conditions, occurs when an oil slick is present. Following this theoretical rationale, a simple filter is developed to observe oil slicks in quad-polarimetric full-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. Experiments, undertaken on a meaningful set of quad-polarization Single Look Complex (SLC) C-band RADARSAT-2 SAR data, where both well-known oil slicks and a weak-damping look-alike are in place, demonstrate the soundness of the model and its effectiveness from an operational viewpoint. [Termes IGN] radar pénétrant GPRRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents some experimental results obtained with newly developed stepped-frequency continuous wave (SFCW) ground-penetrating radar in a frequency range from 400 to 4845 MHz. This paper describes the procedures to remove the delays within the transmitter, the receiver, and the antenna system and analyzes the experimental results obtained after processing the measured data. The measured system footprint and the experimental results show that using an ultrawideband (UWB) Archimedean spiral antenna decreases the coupling signal but does not provide the needed cross-range resolution. Based on the measured dimensions of the footprint, a synthetic aperture procedure is used to improve the radar cross-range resolution from around 60 cm to about 6 cm. This paper shows the ability of the radar to detect dielectric objects and to exhibit their shape as it works with circularly polarized waves. What makes this paper different from prior work, which presents some experiments using a vector network analyzer set up to work as an SFCW radar, is that the data were acquired with a real system working with circular polarization and using two UWB Archimedean spirals. The calibration procedures as well as the synthetic aperture procedure were developed and validated based on measured data with the SFCW radar. [Termes IGN] polarisationRésumé : (Auteur) Target detectors using polarimetry are often focused on single targets, since these can be characterized in a simpler and deterministic way. The algorithm proposed in this paper is aimed at the more difficult problem of partial-target detection (i.e., targets with arbitrary degree of polarization). The authors have already proposed a single-target detector employing filters based on a geometrical perturbation. In order to enhance the algorithm to the detection of partial targets, a new vector formalism is introduced. The latter is similar to the one exploited for single targets but suitable for complete characterization of partial targets. A new feature vector is generated starting from the covariance matrix and exploited for the perturbation method. Validation against L-band fully polarimetric airborne E-SAR and ALOS PALSAR data and X-band dual-polarimetric TerraSAR-X data is provided with significant agreement with the expected results. Additionally, a comparison with the supervised Wishart classifier is presented revealing improvements. [Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) We propose a novel method to select long-term coherent targets from a set of repeated-pass interferometric acquisitions. The major assumption is that targets are so close together to share the same optical path. This leads to an efficient singular-value-decomposition-based estimator of the targets' phase and, then, to PS detection. The estimated phase can be used to define the PS coherence for each image. Being sensitive to acquisition and processing artifacts, the PS coherence is a valuable tool for quality assessment of the interferometric stack. Results are shown with real data sets in both single and full polarizations.
