[Termes IGN] reconstruction d'objetRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a novel approach to recover true fine surface detail of deforming meshes reconstructed from multi-view video. Template-based methods for performance capture usually produce a coarse-to-medium scale detail 4D surface reconstruction which does not contain the real high-frequency geometric detail present in the original video footage. Fine scale deformation is often incorporated in a second pass by using stereo constraints, features, or shading-based refinement. In this paper, we propose an alternative solution to this second stage by formulating dense dynamic surface reconstruction as a global optimization problem of the densely deforming surface. Our main contribution is an implicit representation of a deformable mesh that uses a set of Gaussian functions on the surface to represent the initial coarse mesh, and a set of Gaussians for the images to represent the original captured multi-view images. We effectively find the fine scale deformations for all mesh vertices, which maximize photo-temporal-consistency, by densely optimizing our model-to-image consistency energy on all vertex positions. Our formulation yields a smooth closed form energy with implicit occlusion handling and analytic derivatives. Furthermore, it does not require error-prone correspondence finding or discrete sampling of surface displacement values. We demonstrate our approach on a variety of datasets of human subjects wearing loose clothing and performing different motions. We qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrate that our technique successfully reproduces finer detail than the input baseline geometry. Most existing bias-compensation models express systematic biases as a function of certain deterministic parameters, and least squares adjustment is used for estimating correction parameters. In this paper, the errors-in-variables model is introduced to take random errors in both the observation vector and the design matrix into consideration, based on a weighted total least squares adjustment. Experiments performed with two datasets demonstrate that the proposed method is reliable and the geopositioning accuracy improvement is better compared with a traditional least squares adjustment. [Termes IGN] transformation affineRésumé : (auteur) YaoGan-18 (YG-18) is a Chinese high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite, which was launched on 29th October 2013. So far, however, there have been no published reports evaluating the geometric accuracy of its imagery; this is rectified in this paper. A refined rational function model (RFM) with an affine transformation is utilised for the spaceborne SAR processing. By setting corner reflectors as ground control points (GCPs) and independent check points, the orthorectification accuracy of YG-18 satellite images was better than 2·5 m. Its stereo-SAR measurement accuracy was subsequently evaluated using a high-precision digital surface model (DSM), achieving an elevation accuracy of 11·36 m. The feasibility of the orthorectification method based on GCPs selected from corresponding image points of YG-18 SAR images and ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3) optical images was also verified, offering single-image accuracy better than 4·5 m. [Termes IGN] modèle par fonctions rationnellesRésumé : (Auteur) ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3), the first Chinese civilian stereo mapping satellite, suffers from 0.67 Hz satellite jitter that deteriorates its geometric performance in mapping, resource monitoring and other applications. This paper proposes a distortion correction method based on virtual steady reimaging (VSRI) using attitude data to eliminate the negative influence caused by satellite jitter in satellite data preprocessing. VSRI helps linear array pushbroom cameras rescan the ground with a uniform integral time and smooth attitude. In this method, a VSRI model is proposed, and the geometric relationship between the original and corrected image is determined in terms of geolocation consistency based on a rigorous geometric model. Thus, the corrected image is obtained by resampling from the original one. Three areas of ZY-3 three-line images suffering from satellite jitter were used to validate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. First, different attitude interpolation methods were compared. It is found that the Lagrange polynomial model and the cubic piecewise polynomial model have higher interpolation accuracy for original imagery. Then, the replacement accuracy of the rational function model (RFM) for ZY-3 was analyzed with 0.67 Hz satellite jitter. The results indicate that attitude oscillation reduces the fitting precision of the RFM for the rigorous imaging model. Finally, the relative orientation accuracy of the three-line images and the geo-positioning accuracy with ground control points (GCPs) before and after distortion correction were compared. The results show that the distortion caused by satellite jitter is corrected efficiently, and the accuracy of the three experimental datasets is improved in both the image space and the ground space. [Termes IGN] orthoimageRésumé : (auteur) ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3, meaning Resource-3) is China's first civilian multispectral satellite with high-resolution stereo mapping capability. The along-track stereo images of ZY-3 allow the generation of digital elevation models (DEMs) for various mapping applications. This article evaluated the precision of the derived stereo DEM and orthoimages of ZY-3 data for a test site in Northeastern China. Pixel offset and GPS survey data were used to evaluate the image products. Orthoimages were derived by incorporating rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs) of the satellite orbits and the reference DEMs, including the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) global digital elevation model (GDEM) and ZY-3 stereo elevation model. The generations of orthoimages were categorised into four approaches depending on the RPCs, control points and/or reference DEMs used. When only the ASTER GDEM was used, the derived orthoimages of the forward and backward viewing sensors showed clear pixel offsets against the GPS check points (CKPs). For example, the offsets of the orthoimage derived using forward-looking image were 13·58 and 26·50 m, in x (easting) and y (northing) directions, respectively. These results also indicated that the pixel offset vectors between the forward and backward orthoimages was systematic which was caused by the error in the RPCs. The second and third approaches were to generate the ZY-3 stereo DEMs first, with and without the use of ground control points (GCPs), and then used the stereo DEMs to generate the orthoimages of the forward and backward looking images. The forth approach used both GCPs and ASTER GDEM to generate the orthoimages. The results showed the use of four GCPs in the process improved the accuracy of the orthoimages. Therefore, ZY-3 can deliver the DEM and orthoimage products to meet the accuracy requirement of the national 1 : 50 000 mapping with four well distributed GCPs.
