[Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Auteur) With the advent of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for mapping applications, it is possible to generate 3D dense point clouds using stereo images. This technology, however, has some disadvantages when compared to Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system. Unlike LiDAR, digital cameras mounted on UAVs are incapable of viewing beneath the canopy, which leads to sparse points on the bare earth surface. In such cases, it is more challenging to remove points belonging to above-ground objects using ground filtering algorithms generated especially for LiDAR data. To tackle this problem, a methodology employing supervised image classification for filtering 3D point clouds is proposed in this study. A classified image is overlapped with the point cloud to determine the ground points to be used for digital elevation model (DEM) generation. Quantitative evaluation results showed that filtering the point cloud with this methodology has a good potential for high-resolution DEM generation. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (auteur) It is investigated to what extent EGM96 affects the accuracy of digital elevation model (DEM) produced from the shuttle radar topography mission (SRTM). Global and regional analysis of EGM96 compared with EGM2008 indicate that locally there are large differences distorting to the accuracy level of SRTM DEM. In the absolute sense, the overall geoid differences throughout arc-degree tiles reach −5 m in the northeast and 2–3 m in the southern parts of Turkey. A numerical investigation over the test profiles of 200–700 km length running at various directions proves that a possible vertical datum change from EGM96 to EGM2008 yields systematically more accurate height information with an improvement of up to 2.5 m. A GPS-levelling traverse of about 900 km length points out some key patterns of this recovery. Consequently, a correction for the present version of SRTM DEM should be considered in critical implementations of Earth sciences like geoid or water flow modelling, especially for areas where EGM96 shows weak performance. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Auteur) The International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) solutions that are published by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) are annual realizations of the ITRS (International Terrestrial Reference System). The results expressed in two different ITRS realizations can be compared using the transformation parameters that provide a link between different ITRF solutions. Generally, the 7-parameter (the three translation parameters, three rotation parameters and one scale factor) Helmert transformation is employed to compute the transformation parameters. However, the number of transformation parameters can be increased for better understanding. For example, 3 different scale factors may be computed instead of one scale factor. In this paper, the 9-parameter (the three translation parameters, three rotation parameters and three scale factors) transformation model and its solution by Procrustes approach is considered. Transformation parameters between ITRF 05 and ITRF 08 for Turkey have been computed in both 7-parameter model and 9-parameter model and a numerical example has been given to understand the difference between two models in a better way. An explanation about the proposed methodology as a flow chart also has been shown in appendix. [Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) How temperate forests will respond to climate change is uncertain; projections range from severe decline to increased growth. We conducted field tests of sessile oak (Quercus petraea), a widespread keystone European forest tree species, including more than 150 000 trees sourced from 116 geographically diverse populations. The tests were planted on 23 field sites in six European countries, in order to expose them to a wide range of climates, including sites reflecting future warmer and drier climates. By assessing tree height and survival, our objectives were twofold: (i) to identify the source of differential population responses to climate (genetic differentiation due to past divergent climatic selection vs. plastic responses to ongoing climate change) and (ii) to explore which climatic variables (temperature or precipitation) trigger the population responses. Tree growth and survival were modeled for contemporary climate and then projected using data from four regional climate models for years 2071–2100, using two greenhouse gas concentration trajectory scenarios each. Overall, results indicated a moderate response of tree height and survival to climate variation, with changes in dryness (either annual or during the growing season) explaining the major part of the response. While, on average, populations exhibited local adaptation, there was significant clinal population differentiation for height growth with winter temperature at the site of origin. The most moderate climate model (HIRHAM5-EC; rcp4.5) predicted minor decreases in height and survival, while the most extreme model (CCLM4-GEM2-ES; rcp8.5) predicted large decreases in survival and growth for southern and southeastern edge populations (Hungary and Turkey). Other nonmarginal populations with continental climates were predicted to be severely and negatively affected (Bercé, France), while populations at the contemporary northern limit (colder and humid maritime regions; Denmark and Norway) will probably not show large changes in growth and survival in response to climate change.
