[Termes IGN] Sensor Web EnablementRésumé : (Auteur) Flood observation-supporting satellite sensors (FO-SSs) are the important geospatial resources to flood disaster management. In the geospatial sensor Web environment, effective flood disaster management requires on-demand integration of instant observation information from the diverse web-ready FO-SSs. We propose a sharable and interoperable Earth Observation Satellite Sensor Information (ssi) model for satellite observations integration. The SSI model reuses and extends the existing metadata standards to be a standard metadata-filled description framework. The SensorModel prototype serving here is to apply the SSI model into FO-SSs, retrieve and visualize the qualified Web-ready FO-SSs. An experiment on the flood emergency in the middle reaches of Yangtze River basin in China is conducted. The results show that, three kinds of users including FO-SSs providers, common emergency responders, and emergency managers can benefit from the proposed FO-SSI model, and the managers can reliably and comprehensively integrate the satisfied Web-ready FO-SSs to guide the scheduling of the required observation activities. [Termes IGN] téléphone intelligentRésumé : (Editeur) [...] What are we to do if we wish to obtain consistently usable positions indoors using a mobile phone? As we will see in this month's column, we can augment or bypass its GPS or GNSS receiver with other unfettered sensing technologies such as gyroscopes and accelerometers. These devices can be made very small using microelectromechanical technology and are already included in some mobile phones. However, there are some issues with these devices for positioning, not the least of which is rapid position drift. We can restrain the drift by using magnetometers, for example - also present in some mobile phones. We can also use radio signals of opportunity to help in the positioning - signals available in the phone such as multi-generation mobile signals, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi through their signal strength "fingerprints." But is all of this actually feasible? The authors of the article in this month's column have conducted tests of such a multi-system approach to positioning indoors with quite favorable results. Are we at the stage of accurate positioning (and tracking) everywhere? Not quite, but we are getting closer. [Termes IGN] transformation de FourierRésumé : (Auteur) In a context of mobile environment mapping, a vehicle-based radar system, K2Pi, has been developed. A mapping of the environment is carried out from the radar datasets. Given the specificities of radar maps, the main problem at this stage is to find a method to georeference these maps. This article proposes three radar map georeferencing methods. The first method is a typical manual selection of a set of control point pairs. The second method consists of matching the relative trajectory computed by a specific radar algorithm with a trajectory recorded from absolute DGPS recording. Finally, the third method, inspired by the image-to-image approach, is based on Fourier-Mellin transform which automatically registers the radar map with respect to a georeferenced aerial photograph. Successfully tested on radar datasets, this method could be applied to many other types of data.
