[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) This paper proposes a method for electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) placement problem at the directional road segment (DRS) level for large urban road networks, which integrates a multi-criteria decision-making model with a new map matching technique called “segment-wise matching based on MRI”. The charging demand of DRS is estimated based on a novel prediction method which considers the arrival trips and the variation of charging demand for different trip purposes. Traffic attributes, charging demand attributes, and land price are incorporated into the TOPSIS model to determine the optimal EVCS placement. Finally, the proposed method is demonstrated using the road network of Xi'an in China as a case study. The results show the proposed method can be well applied to the EVCS placement problem at the DRS level for large-scale urban road networks. It is found that EVCS installation potentials of road segments approximately follow a normal distribution. The road segments with a high installation potential exhibit regional clustering characteristics due to the level of well-developed land use in the surrounding area. Sensitivity analyses suggest that it is important to include multiple criteria for modeling the EVCS placement problem and that traffic speed and arrival trips are key factors. [Termes IGN] principe d'équivalenceRésumé : (auteur) The MICROSCOPE mission was designed to test the weak equivalence principle (WEP), stating the equality between the inertial and the gravitational masses, with a precision of 10−15 in terms of the Eötvös ratio η. Its experimental test consisted of comparing the accelerations undergone by two collocated test masses of different compositions as they orbited the Earth, by measuring the electrostatic forces required to keep them in equilibrium. This was done with ultrasensitive differential electrostatic accelerometers onboard a drag-free satellite. The mission lasted two and a half years, cumulating five months worth of science free-fall data, two-thirds with a pair of test masses of different compositions—titanium and platinum alloys—and the last third with a reference pair of test masses of the same composition—platinum. We summarize the data analysis, with an emphasis on the characterization of the systematic uncertainties due to thermal instabilities and on the correction of short-lived events which could mimic a WEP violation signal. We found no violation of the WEP, with the Eötvös parameter of the titanium and platinum pair constrained to η(Ti,Pt)=[−1.5±2.3(stat)±1.5(syst)]×10−15 at 1σ in statistical errors. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) This paper focuses on PPP-B2b, one of the featured services for BDS-3, which provides users around China with centimetre-level static positioning accuracy and decimetre-level kinematic positioning accuracy by broadcasting precise corrections for GPS/BDS-3 satellites. The GEO PPP-B2b signal broadcasted information types, including the PRN mask, orbit corrections, differential code bias corrections and clock corrections, are introduced, as well as a brief description of their usage. A new orbit determination strategy using regional L-band code/phase measurements and inter-satellite link measurements in combination and a real-time clock estimation strategy based on the Kalman filter for PPP-B2b precise correction generation are introduced in this contribution. Then, the accuracy of the orbit and clock corrections is assessed. The orbit user ranging error (URE) is 0.05 m for the BDS-3 MEO and GPS satellites. The orbit URE for BDS-3 IGSO satellites is worse, i.e., 0.15 m. The clock correction accuracy is 0.2 ns for BDS-3 and GPS satellites. Finally, the PPP-B2b performance is validated by both the static PPP process and simulated kinematic PPP process. BDS-3/GPS dual-system PPP offers faster convergence and better accuracy. The positioning accuracy achievable using PPP-B2b real-time products is at the same level as that using post-processed products. The RMS for BDS-3/GPS dual-system static positioning errors is less than 1.0 cm in east and north and about 3.0 cm in the up. The simulated kinematic positioning accuracy is better than 2.5 cm in the north, 3.5 cm in the east and 8.5 cm in the up directions after convergence. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) Key-frame selection methods were developed in the past years to reduce the complexity of frame processing in visual odometry (VO) and visual simultaneous localization and mapping (VSLAM) algorithms. Key-frames help increasing algorithm's performances by sparsifying frames while maintaining its accuracy and robustness. Unlike current selection methods that rely on many heuristic thresholds to decide which key-frame should be selected, this paper proposes a photogrammetric-based key-frame selection method built upon ORB-SLAM3. The proposed algorithm, named Photogrammetric Key-frame Selection (PKS), replaces static heuristic thresholds with photogrammetric principles, ensuring algorithm’s robustness and better point cloud quality. A key-frame is chosen based on adaptive thresholds and the Equilibrium Of Center Of Gravity (ECOG) criteria as well as Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) observations. To evaluate the proposed PKS method, the European Robotics Challenge (EuRoC) and an in-house datasets are used. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations are made by comparing trajectories, point clouds quality and completeness and Absolute Trajectory Error (ATE) in mono-inertial and stereo-inertial modes. Moreover, for the generated dense point clouds, extensive evaluations, including plane-fitting error, model deformation, model alignment error, and model density and quality, are performed. The results show that the proposed algorithm improves ORB-SLAM3 positioning accuracy by 18% in stereo-inertial mode and 20% in mono-inertial mode without the use of heuristic thresholds, as well as producing a more complete and accurate point cloud up to 50%. Forest canopy height is a global metric to characterise and monitor dynamics in forest ecosystems worldwide. Satellite mapping missions as NASA's Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) are creating opportunities to refine global forest canopy height models adding forest structural information to time-series satellite imagery. A recent global canopy height model presented by Lang et al., (2022) using GEDI and 10-m Sentinel-2 and the map from Potapov et al., (2020) using GEDI and Landsat are both tested in this study using multi-temporal tree-level data collected over eucalypt plantations in Brazil. Our results at plot-level showed Lang et al., (2022)’s estimates of canopy height came short compared to 2020 maximum and mean tree height records in the plots, 7.6 and 3.6 m, respectively, but adding CHM standard deviation improves the agreement of ground records for maximum tree height. Higher errors were computed for the plots in 2019 using the Potapov's 30-m CHM: 14.2 and 9.5 m, respectively. Averaged stand values were more similar between the three sources tested. We report improvement from the 30-m CHM to the 10-m, but still height saturation problems were observed when accounting for height differences in tall eucalypt trees. As more global products for forest height and biomass are becoming available to users, more validation exercises as presented in this study are needed to assess the suitability of CHM products to forestry needs, and facilitate the uptake and actionability of the next generation of global height and biomass products. We provide recommendations and insights on the use of GEDI laser data for global mapping and on the potential of commercial forestry areas to benchmark the accuracy of satellite mapping missions focusing on tree height estimation in the tropics.
