[Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The increase of recreational activities in the mountains and a growing amount of websites proposing geographic data, offer new opportunities for societal needs such as mountain rescue, biodiversity monitoring, outdoor activities. However, the main issue with the websites data is the lack of metadata that minimizes its reuse outside the community that produced the data. The goal of this paper is to study and generate quality and descriptive metadata using ISO standards. To this end, we propose a method based on a common vocabulary such as an ontology and a data matching process. The first one allows to associate to each type of feature from an available geographic dataset an ontology class that will facilitate data matching, reproducibility of results and minimize semantic heterogeneity. The second one allows to define matching links between features representing the same entity in the real world and compute quality indicators based on the validated links. Finally, at the end of this process, we are able to generate descriptive and quality metadata. By following ISO standards and using the QualityML dictionary for measures, the metadata is serialized to XML and can finally be published as open source. Our approach was applied to five different landmark datasets in the French Alps region. New insights were acquired regarding positional accuracy and semantic granularity. [Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (auteur) Precisely localising solar Active Regions (AR) from multi-spectral images is a challenging but important task in understanding solar activity and its influence on space weather. A main challenge comes from each modality capturing a different location of the 3D objects, as opposed to typical multi-spectral imaging scenarios where all image bands observe the same scene. Thus, we refer to this special multi-spectral scenario as multi-layer. We present a multi-task deep learning framework that exploits the dependencies between image bands to produce 3D AR localisation (segmentation and detection) where different image bands (and physical locations) have their own set of results. Furthermore, to address the difficulty of producing dense AR annotations for training supervised machine learning (ML) algorithms, we adapt a training strategy based on weak labels (i.e. bounding boxes) in a recursive manner. We compare our detection and segmentation stages against baseline approaches for solar image analysis (multi-channel coronal hole detection, SPOCA for ARs) and state-of-the-art deep learning methods (Faster RCNN, U-Net). Additionally, both detection and segmentation stages are quantitatively validated on artificially created data of similar spatial configurations made from annotated multi-modal magnetic resonance images. Our framework achieves an average of 0.72 IoU (segmentation) and 0.90 F1 score (detection) across all modalities, comparing to the best performing baseline methods with scores of 0.53 and 0.58, respectively, on the artificial dataset, and 0.84 F1 score in the AR detection task comparing to baseline of 0.82 F1 score. Our segmentation results are qualitatively validated by an expert on real ARs. [Termes IGN] vision monoculaireRésumé : (auteur) Depth estimation from a single image is a challenging task, especially inside the highly structured forest environment. In this paper, we propose a supervised deep learning model for monocular depth estimation based on forest imagery. We train our model on a new data set of forest RGB-D images that we collected using a terrestrial laser scanner. Alongside the input RGB image, our model uses a sparse depth channel as input to recover the dense depth information. The prediction accuracy of our model is significantly higher than that of state-of-the-art methods when applied in the context of forest depth estimation. Our model brings the RMSE down to 2.1 m, compared to 4 m and above for reference methods. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationMots-clés libres : PROMETHEE Résumé : (auteur) Cartographic generalization is a process similar to text summarization that transforms a map when scale is reduced. Cartographic generalization simplifies the map content while preserving as much as possible the initial characteristics and spatial relations of the map. The automation of this process requires a deep understanding of the context of each map feature, which involves different criteria such as the shape of the feature, the semantic nature of the feature, or the spatial patterns of its neighbouring features. This is why multiple criteria decision techniques can be relevant during the process. This paper proposes two use cases of cartographic generalization sub-tasks where multiple criteria decision techniques improve past techniques: the classification of urban building blocks and the ordering of the buildings to keep in the map as a priority. In both use cases, the proposed methods are experimented on large real cartographic datasets, and evaluated in comparison to alternative techniques. [Termes IGN] voisinage (relation topologique)Résumé : (auteur) Spatial information is often used to enhance the robustness of traditional fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering algorithms. Although some recently emerged improvements are remarkable, the computational complexity of these algorithms is high, which may lead to lack of practicability. To address this problem, an efficient variant named the fuzzy clustering algorithm with variable multi-pixel fitting spatial information (FCM-VMF) is presented. First, a fuzzy clustering algorithm with multi-pixel fitting spatial information (FCM-MF) is developed. Specifically, by dividing the input image into several filter windows, the spatial information of all pixels in each filter window can be obtained simultaneously by fitting the pixels in its corresponding neighbourhood window, which enormously reduces the computational complexity. However, the FCM-MF may result in the loss of edge information. Therefore, the FCM-VMF integrates a variable window strategy with FCM-MF. In this strategy, to preserve more edge information, the sizes of the filter window and generalized neighbourhood window are adaptively reduced. The experimental results show that FCM-VMF is as effective as some recent algorithms. Notably, the FCM-VMF has extremely high efficiency, which means it has a better prospect of application.
