[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes an automatic method for registering terrestrial laser scans in terms of robustness and accuracy. The proposed method uses spatial curves as matching primitives to overcome the limitations of registration methods based on points, lines, or patches as primitives. These methods often have difficulty finding correspondences between the scanned point clouds of freeform surfaces (e.g., statues, cultural heritage). The proposed method first clusters visually prominent points selected according to their associated geometric curvatures to extract crest lines which describe the shape characteristics of point clouds. Second, a deformation energy model is proposed to measure the shape similarity of these crest lines to select the correct matching-curve pairs. Based on these pairs, good initial orientation parameters can be obtained, resulting in fine registration. Experiments were undertaken to evaluate the robustness and accuracy of the proposed method, demonstrating a reliable and stable solution for accurately registering complex scenes without good initial alignment. [Termes IGN] relation spatialeRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents an approach for 3D object retrieval, dedicated to partial shape retrieval in large datasets. A word manipulation, i.e. quantized descriptors, as in the Bag-of-Words representation is employed, based on the extraction of 3D Harris points and on a local description involving local manifold harmonic transform. By adding Δ-TSR, a triangular spatial information between words, the richness and robustness of this representation is reinforced. The approach is invariant to different geometrical transformations of 3D shape such as translation, rotation, scale and robust to shape resolution changes. We have evaluated it in terms of quality of retrieval, facing several state-of-the-art methods and on different public 3D benchmarks involving different contents and degrees of complexity. [Termes IGN] milieu urbainRésumé : (Auteur) Recent advancements in remote sensing technology have provided a plethora of very high spatial resolution images. From pixel-based processing designed for low spatial resolution data, image processing has shifted towards object-based analysis in order to adapt to the hyperspatial nature of currently available remote sensing data. However, standard object-based classifiers work with only object-level summary statistics of the reflectance values and do not sufficiently exploit within-object reflectance pattern. In this research, a novel approach of utilizing the object-level distribution of reflectance values is presented. A fuzzy Kolmogorov-Smirnov based classifier is proposed to provide an object-to-object matching of the empirical distribution of the reflectance values of each object and derive a fuzzy membership grade to each class. This object-based classifier is tested for urban objects recognition from WorldView-2 data. Results indicate at least 10 percent increase in overall classification accuracy using the proposed classifier in comparison to various popular object- and pixel-based classifiers. [Termes IGN] occupation du solRésumé : (Auteur) Change detection with remotely sensed imagery plays an important role in land cover mapping, process analysis and dynamic information services. Euclidean distance, correlation and other mathematic metrics between spectral curves have been used to calculate change magnitude in most change detection methods. However, many pseudo changes would also be detected because of inter-class spectral variance, which remains a significant challenge for operational remote sensing applications. In general, different land cover types have their own spectral curves characterized by typical spectral values and shapes. These spectral values are widely used for designing change detection algorithms. However, the shape of spectral curves has not yet been fully considered. This paper proposes to use spectral gradient difference (SGD) to quantitatively describe the spectral shapes and the differences in shape between two spectra. Change magnitude calculated in the new spectral gradient space is used to detect the change/no-change areas. Then, a chain model is employed to represent the SGD pattern both qualitatively and quantitatively. Finally, the land cover change types are determined by pattern matching with the knowledgebase of reference SGD patterns. The effectiveness of this SGD-based change detection approach was verified by a simulation experiment and a case study of Landsat data. The results indicated that the SGD-based approach was superior to the traditional methods. [Termes IGN] phaseRésumé : (Auteur) The obvious directionality inherent in interferometric synthetic aperture radar interferograms allows noise to be filtered very effectively along the fringe direction, leaving the fringe phase undamaged. This paper proposes a highly reliable method for the simultaneous estimation of the direction and density of interferograms, on the basis of which a directionally adaptive filter (DAF) is further proposed. Compared with existing filters, the DAF has a filter window whose direction is able to vary continuously with the fringe direction. The window length and width can be varied adaptively with the fringe density: a large window achieves better filtering results when the fringes are sparse, whereas a small window is better able to preserve the phase detail when they are dense. The processing results of both simulated and real data demonstrate that the DAF effectively eliminates noise and preserves detailed fringe information because its filter window performs adaptively in terms of both direction and size.
