[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The modeling of a landscape environment is a cognitive activity that requires appropriate spatial representations. The research presented in this paper introduces a structural and semantic categorization of a landscape view based on panoramic photographs that act as a substitute of a given natural environment. Verbal descriptions of a landscape scene provide the modeling input of our approach. This structure-based model identifies the spatial, relational, and semantic constructs that emerge from these descriptions. Concepts in the environment are qualified according to a semantic classification, their proximity and direction to the observer, and the spatial relations that qualify them. The resulting model is represented in a way that constitutes a modeling support for the study of environmental scenes, and a contribution for further research oriented to the mapping of a verbal description onto a geographical information system-based representation. [Termes IGN] profondeurRésumé : (Auteur) The metric nature of stereoscopic depth perception has remained an enigma. Several mathematical formulations proposed for measuring the stereoscopic effect have not shown to be reliable. This may be due to the lack of a conceptual distinction between the 3D model geometrically obtained by intersection of visual rays (geometric model), and the 3D model perceived in the observer's mind (perceptual model). Based on the assumption that retinal parallax is the only source of information on depth available to the brain, we developed an equation that shows real and perceptual space to be connected by a logarithmic function. This relationship has allowed us to formulate the vertical exaggeration for all sorts of stereoscopic conditions, including natural stereovision. The obtained formulations might involve possibilities of technological applications, such as the artificial recreation of a natural stereovision effect, ant the design of stereoscopic instruments with a desired degree of vertical exaggeration. [Termes IGN] retour d'expérienceRésumé : (Auteur) Technological development and increasing awareness of geographical data and its use has triggered an explosion of digital content. This has not, however, been accompanied by measures for dissemination and accessibility. Spatial Data Infrastructure allows extensive reuse of geographical information and may offer a solution. SDIs currently face organisational, technological and legal , as well as cultural and linguistic challenges. The aim of the European project eSDI-Net+ is to facilitate exchange of experience and problem-solving at local, regional and national level.
